Vielen Dank!

We loved every minute of our stay. The owners Marie and Adrian go out of their way to make your stay memorable, the location and the garden is just soo beautiful and the rooms are big & integrated into the gorgeous garden and have comfortable beds. There are lots of things to do in St. Lucia, the Hippos walked by while we had dinner in town😂 and Cape Vidal ist just perfect for a day at the sea.
That we had had to leave...

A wonderful find. Great quality accommodation, a few minutes walk from town but with the beautiful gardens it was like staying in a tropical paradise, with resident tree squirrels and chameleons. Hippos on the corner in the evening!
Adrian and Marie were so helpful, organising trips for us. Lots of personal touches and fabulous breakfasts, different every day. We were sorry to leave.
Nothing, it was all great.

Adrian went out of his way to help us with a great itinerary for our stay in St Lucia and was extremely helpful, even lending us equipment to enjoy a day on the beach. The room was very comfortable and nicely furnished, and breakfast was excellent. The surrounding area is very interesting and incredibly beautiful.

We spent single night at the Kwalucia Safari Retreat in May 2021 and would highly recommend it to anyone. In fact, were we to do it again, we would spend 2 or 3 nights there. Adrian and Marie were superb hosts - they were very friendly, accommodating and informative. The retreat itself is located on a very quiet side street only a few steps away from the center of town where the bars and restaurants are located. The inside of the retreat is a beautifully maintained tropical garden. The room was spacious, clean, well tended, beautifully designed and well appointed. Marie went out of her way to prepare an incredibly delicious picnic breakfast for us as we left very early to iSimangaliso Wetland Park. The park really requires a minimum of 2 full days to visit comfortably, and ideally 3 to spend some time at the beach. You will not be disappointed if you include Kwalucia Private Safari Retreat as your accommodation while in St. Lucia.
Nothing not to like - stay was superb.

Adrian and Marie are the loveliest hosts. Both take time to recommend day trips and restaurants and help with questions. The breakfast was great and we even got a to-go version, when we were early heading to the park. The B&B itself is elegant and the heating blankets kept us cosy at night.
All great!

We stayed at Kwalucia for 4 nights. It is just a few minutes (safe) walk to the restaurants.
The owners, Adrian and Marie, were so welcoming. It felt like we were visiting old friends rather than staying at a guest house. They are so helpful and welcoming. When we arrived, Adrian sat down with us to recommend our activities for our stay - and then they booked them all for us. Adrian even took us himself to some of the places we wanted to see.
Highly recommended! Great accommodation and delicious breakfasts (Marie’s food is wonderful).
We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to St Lucia.

Hosts exceptionally attentive. Breakfasts made with the greatest of love. Accommodation probably the best in St Lucia. Room thoughtfully laid out with lots of storage space. A mere 200 metres from the nearest restaurant. Park across the road where you might get lucky and spot a hippopotamus amphibious.
No complaints.

What makes the accommodation exceptional is the hospitality of Adrian and Marie. They welcomed us warmly and gave us the most important tips for our day trip to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi NP, Cape Vidal and for the best restaurants in St. Lucia. The rooms are equipped with everything you could want, maybe a little dark overall, but that didn't bother us. Adrian and Marie organized a wonderful HippoCroc boat safari for us, we didn't have to worry about anything.
Marie's homemade breakfast of jams, fresh squeezed juice and all sorts of goodies was great. Adrian took us to see a grazing Hippo in St. Lucia in the evening, that was one of our absolute vacation highlights.

Stunning property in a tropical environment, not too large, with extremely friendly hosts! Separate cabanas, private, overall very well kept, very clean place with unexpected amenities such as an honesty bar and two (veeery different) guard dogs that took care of the monkeys (that are common in SA). The dogs are super friendly and extremely well behaved, mind you. But one is a great dane which may frighten some people, just an FYI.
Nice breakfast setup with the ability (and request) to choose an approximate time for it as things are freshly made, where possible, and an introduction by the host of what's available.
As for the dreaded loadshedding: this property has many lights and the fans hooked up to the battery backup. Host offered to run the generator which does not normally run (contrary to the neighboring property...) but one does not need hot water for showering smack during loadshedding, right?
Even though the property is shielded and surrounded by high walls topped with an electrified fence (much appreciated in such a country) one has the ability to enter and leave by oneself at any time once checked in. Check-in was unusual in the sense that we were presented lots of input about the town, the nature, activities, etc immediately upon arrival, prior to being able to go to our room. I'm sure we could have said something but this was unexpected. Maybe better to ask your guests what they'd prefer, if we may make a recommendation. Especially since most if not all people coming to St. L. will have had a bit of traveling by then.
Property is very close to the main street, some 5 minutes walk if you're walking really slow, where there are a couple of food options (none at the property usually), including two supermarkets, a liquor store and gas station. Oh, and did we mention that there are Hippos? Yes, Hippos roaming about the town center every so often during the evening hours. Not something most people will see during their life, we'd think.
This is nitpicking and both things would not be something that prevented us from coming back:
Even when power was on, the hot water took a very long time to arrive and then went out quickly until after another long time it briefly came back, and so on. Something to consider, and it unfortunately leads to a lot of water being wasted, waiting for the hot water to return - and no, I don't like cold showers.
While the WiFi broadcasting APs are apparently running on battery backup, the actual router (or maybe the ONT, or both) seem not to as the signal remained but no actual "Internet" was available. We didn't mind as we had data on the phone. But this could possibly be improved, especially as this might only be a mistake with an electrical plug not being in the right outlet.
I do not consider any of this as negative but since it's probably an easy fix, especially re the Internet as the APs are already running on battery backup, it is worth mentioning. And we didn't really have any time to mention any of this during our stay so please don't blame us, ha! Again, it didn't make our stay less enjoyable. You are both doing a great job, thanks for the great stay!

Dear Adrian an Marie
Thank you so much for the great stay at Kwaluci.
Planning 2 nights, we stayed 5.
You are great hosts! You made us feel very welcome in your beautiful B&B.
Adrian gave us a lot of tips about the area and booked us for some trips, he also helped us when our car was broken. And last but not least: he took us on a private tour where we saw lots of animals. Thank you dear wildebeestwisperer for al your information and stories.
Marie, thank you for the great breakfasts and specially for the fun and the laughter. Your a woman after our own heart.
When you visit Holland, please call us.
All the best to you both

We've never ever experienced such a personalized experience. Always with a large smile both Adrian and Marie really went out of their way to help us plan our days in and around St Lucia. We'll miss the daily weather update at breakfast and the lovely prepared breakfast buffet (Marie is a lovely chef!). If you plan to visit St Lucia or isimangaliso, look no further and book a room at Kwalucia, you won't regret it!

we spent 2 nights on the hottest summer day, in humid St Lucia, even if there is no aircon coz load shedding, the lush plants in the garden make the room very cool, and there are fans for backup as well, each room is individual with good privacy, the beds the pillows are very comfortable to sleep , all the deco in the rooms & tableware and toiletries are prepared with care. When you check in, Adrian will give you a detailed introduction of what to do & where to eat in St Lucia, as well as map markings. They can help you make an appointment for a day or 2 hours boat trip, they also offered renting of the beach chairs umbrellas, snorkels surfing boards etc for Cape Vidal trip. The breakfast made by the Marie in different ways every day is so delicious! they helped us to find out the crocodile center’s feeding time before we planned to go there, which is very helpful coz it’s only once a week, and without feeding activities it could be bit boring there seeing all the crocodiles hiding or sleeping like fake models
The hot and cold water switch in our room is not easy to control. The swimming pool is not as big as the photo shows.

The attention to detail and dedication of Andrian and Marianne was exceptional. They ensured that we experienced the best that St Lucia has to offer. They are great people. The breakfast was extraordinary too. Well thought of menus on a daily basis and superb homemade items. They also went the extra mile to do a romantic turndown of our room for our anniversary night at no cost. We even got a treat at breakfast on the day after our anniversary. Really enjoyed our stay. Excellent selection of soaps and lotions too. Crazy that I am even complimenting the soaps and lotion but it deserves a mention.

Like everything! Especially the owners! South a
Africans who love their town and country and want to help you enjoy South Africa and St Lucia. They were friendly, offer a spectacular breakfast and are great source of information about the area. Adrian is a wonderful host that gives you a warm welcome, he assists you in everything ! Marie is a wonderful cook, she really enjoys preparing the most delicious things. They both enjoy making people happy and that shows. Marie's pancakes with caramel sauce + fruit salad for breakfafst are so good !! We also had a dinner with them which was just sublime. The room and the whole retreat are furnished very cosy with eye for each detail. You will also be able to see chameleons in their garden. Our advise: if you get the chance, stay and eat here !
I can't think of anything negative about this place. All is fine and cosy here.

Exceptional hospitality of hosts Marie and Adrian. Amazing peaceful surroundings in beautiful tropical garden full of resident wildlife, right in the middle of town, just two minutes walking distance to restaurants and shops - though you wouldn't know it considering how quiet and secluded the property was. Perfect breakfast with locally sourced ingredients served in the lounge by the swimming pool. Access to a multitude of activities in the surrounding area, including game drives, hippo tours, beach visits etc, all very efficiently booked by the hosts.
Absolutely nothing that could be improved on.
