Our family of 10 had a wonderful stay in this peaceful, beachfront home.

Beautiful setting, home, property and location. Fabulous communication with owner. Well stocked with bedding, linens, dishes, games for a large family. Kayaks were a super bonus. Would not recommend the lower level for sleeping.

Large beautiful oceanfront home with beautiful views! Plenty of room for our extended family, private bathrooms for everyone, large kitchen with lots of seating, downstairs rec room was great and outdoor spaces were awesome. Can’t say enough good things!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The setting is absolutely stunning from the front lawn to the back porch and private oceanfront beach. We were a group of 4 adults and 5 children ages 2-13 and everyone enjoyed the property. We really enjoyed using the kayaks, eating dinner on the spacious deck, and playing soccer on the lawn. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out as well as a nice open kitchen with plenty of seating for everyone to eat meals inside or outside on the deck. We went to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park several days and were there in under an hour. Our favorite meal was at Perry's Lobster Shack only a few minutes from the house. Highly recommend for family fun!

Spent the week celebrating a 70th birthday with our family. This home was perfect! We had ping pong competitions, worked puzzles at night, collected shells, went out in the kayak and canoe, saw an eagle and other wildlife, went to Acadia a couple of times, Bar Harbor and Kennebunkport, played golf, saw several lighthouses and ate a lot of good food. Great vacation! And would definitely stay here again!

The house and property are waaaay better than the listing shows. House is huge and well stocked. It feels like a friends’ home rather than a rental. And the view is gorgeous! Make sure to take the kayaks out to see the seals up close. We used this as a home base for Acadia but could easily have spent the whole week on the property. All around a great trip.

This home is gorgeous, spacious and the location is ideal. I've ben kayaking in Maine during august vacations for decades and I've never seen more seals. We had the best time visiting Schoodic, Grindstone, Acadia and just enjoying the property. Everything was clean and comfortable and even better than expected.

We were sad to leave after one week of fun with our family! The house is in great setting, spacious and airy. Highly recommend it!

Our first trip to Surry was filled with wonderful adventures on land and water! Hiking trails in Acadia and lobster boat fun in Bar Harbor made this vacation such a fun time with family ! But the wonderful treasures found along the property was such a joy for my grandchildren! It will always be remembered .Our thank you to Dottie for being so helpful and patient with our concerns.

This vacation rental was perfect for our Maine vacation. It is a beautiful property in a perfect location. The location is perfect; it’s a easy drive to Bar Harbor/Acadia N.P. and perfectly situated to explore the Blue Hill peninsula. The owner was very responsive and we appreciated all of the wonderful tips she provided that helped to make for a awesome family vacation. I would highly recommend this property!

Beautiful view of bay from anywhere in house. Very quiet setting. Only complaint was the bedding in all rooms but master which mattress topper could solve. Hopefully will get a chance to return someday, had a wonderfull time.

My large family had lots of space to spread out at this lovely home! There were plenty of games to play inside during the rain and the outdoor space, magnificent! Situated right on the water we kayaked,strolled the beach and enjoyed beautiful sunsets! This home has it all. The host was warm and inviting and communication was easy!

We stayed for an annual Maine coast vacation with friends. We were a group of 8 with 4 children ages 2.5-7. The home is perfect for a large group, especially multiple families. Bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and the beds were comforable overall. Multiple bathrooms and a well equipped laundry room were a major plus. The location on Patten Bay was one of our favorite spots we have ever stayed at or visited in Maine over many years. The beach was quite manageable for little kids for a Maine pebble/rock beach. At low tide the tide pools and shore line were perfect for searching for crabs, starfish and other shellfish and at high tide it was incredibly easy to launch paddle boards and sea kayaks to go exploring. The bay is very quiet and has limited motor boat traffic and is a pristine marine environment, thankfully untouched by the effects of warming thus far. Bald eagles, great blue herons, cormorants and coopers hawks patrol the coast, and harbor seals and schools of mackerel hit the water throughout the day. It is isolated enough to be away from any semblance of a crowd (except at Perry’s Lobster Shack), but close enough to the Maine roads to make day trips further out on the Blue Hill peninsula and MDI very reasonable. Dottie was incredibly responsive, helpful and easy to deal with. The back deck is huge with a great view and perfect for congregating to eat or relax day or night. Only criticisms would be that the kitchen appliances, particularly refrigerator and stove, are quite a bit outdated, but they held their own for a group that likes to prepare food and drinks throughout the day. Also some of the interior spaces could use some updating and space utilized better. But we did not pick the location or home for the kitchen or to hang out inside, and the important things like the deck, beach, and location are as good as you’ll find on the Maine coast. We would make a return trip in a heartbeat

The host was very responsive. We appreciated the resources for places of interest in the area that were provided by the host. We enjoyed many of them. The house was spacious and comfortable for our family of 11 (ages 8-75 coming from 4 households). Kitchen and outside deck were large enough to allow all of us to be together. Coming from Wisconsin and New York being together was important. Children and adults enjoyed game room in the lower level. Everyone enjoyed the beach area at both high and low tide. Paddling as well as hunting for sea creatures were favorite activities. Leaving was difficult, we all would like to return

We had a great week in Surry Maine for our family reunion. Hacienda Del Mar had the perfect layout for our group of 11 (6 adults and 7 kids) with plenty of space so we were not on top of each other. The bottom floor rec room was a haven for the teenagers where some epic ping pong tournaments ensued. The outdoor deck was spacious with spectacular views of the water. Exploring the tide pools and kayaking were a favored activity in the morning and evening after spending the days in Acadia. The main part of the park itself is 45-60 minute drive to Mount Desert Isle depending on location. One of the main reasons for us selecting Hacienda Del Mar was it’s central location between the main part of Acadia and Stonington where you can catch the boat to Isle au Haut for some adventurous coastal hiking. So glad we found this property and made some great memories.

Wonderful house, great beach location -- great for a large family vacation.

We stayed at this home with our adult children and nephews. Everyone had privacy when needed but also great gathering places!

The leaves were glorious and we enjoyed the house and location. We toured all of Acadia, took fun hikes and explored the nearby towns. Our large group was very comfortable here

This property was great for our family members ranging from 91 years old to 3 months! Plenty of space, wonderful sunrises, short drive for ice-cream or lobster or coffee at Rooster Brothers. GREAT week in Maine!

I lovely home in a gorgeous location. Three generations of our family spent a spectacular week in July at Hacienda Del Mar. Dottie was excellent to work with. She was gracious, helpful and responsive to all questions. The pics underrepresent the home. It is much more spacious and airy than I expected, with plenty of room for a family of 13 to play and chatter with ease. The dock and the boats were a real bonus. The Kitchen was well equipped and roomy enough for everybody to pitch in with meal preparation. We would definitely stay here again.

Our family had a great time at this property. Plenty of room for all and good suggestions from the owners about the area.

We really enjoyed our stay! The home was very big with plenty of bedrooms and living area for our party of 11. We loved the view and spent many nights on the deck. The kids loved kayaking and looking for shells, snails, and crabs on the shore. The drive to Acadia was a bit longer than I had expected... almost an hour to Bar Harbor and the beautiful parts of the national park... so we only went there twice, and were happy to use the owner's recommendations to find closer hikes, restaurants, and things to do.

Our group of 10, two families of parents and adult kids, had a wonderful time at Hacienda del Mar. The house had plenty of room and bedrooms to easily accommodate our group. We took advantage of the big kitchen, comfortable living room, ping pong room, back deck, and spacious yard. Although the weather was warm, the house remained cool and perfectly comfortable with the windows open. We loved our daily kayaking and canoeing in the area. Along with seeing seals, porpuses, eagles and numerous schools of fish, a small bear meandered along the property line one morning. Cool! Our families from Minnesota and Colorado really enjoyed exploring a part of the country that we hadn't visited in the past. Highlights were nearby towns of Blue Hill, Stonington, Castine and Bar Harbor/Acadia. Dottie was very responsive and helpful in our communication leading up to the stay. Thank you, Dottie!! Overall, we couldn't have been happier with every aspect of the house and trip. We highly recommend this house.

Our family really enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend it. It is in a great location. Being right on the water was enjoyable and we made use of the kayaks (as well as rented an additional tandem kayak). Getting them down to the water takes some effort, but anyone who has kayaked knows it takes some effort to move them around. The house is very spacious with room for people to spread out. Note there is only one TV with cable, but we were out and about most of the time so it was not an issue for us. Mosquitoes and a few other biting bugs were an issue, but to be expected in Maine in June. Being there in early June made getting into Acadia and Bar Harbor easy. Pugnuts ice cream shop is wonderful. My parents stopped by and they were closed, but the owner came out and let them taste some ice cream. Perry's Lobster shack is also a must.

This house is absolutely wonderful. The location was great, not to mention beautiful. The house was very well equipped from kitchen to baths to bedrooms. It easily accommodated 6 adults easily. We would definitely consider visiting again.

We had the most wonderful holiday at the fabulous 'Hacienda del Mar ' The house is great - stylish & comfortable. Our group of ten (nine adults + one baby) had plenty of shared & private space both inside & outside the house. We loved the location of the property - spectacular views & direct access from the lovely grounds to the delights of Union River Bay for kayaking, canoeing, paddling, swimming & even seal & porpoise spotting! Wonderful beach walks & views. We found the owners very easy to deal with & appreciated the warm & welcoming style they exhibited in all correspondence, holiday activity suggestions & even in the gentle requests at the house itself, which helped us to feel immediately comfortable & 'at home' from the moment we stepped into the stunning property. We enjoyed exploring the area & the beautiful Acadia National Park and were so happy to return each day to our wonderful holiday 'home from home'! In fact, we'd love to visit another time for a second taste of the wonderful Hacienda del Mar and of Maine & all its delights!

This house was absolutely amazing! We had 10 people (4 adults, 6 kids) with us and there was more than enough room. The kids enjoyed the basement and all the fun games provided. Corn hole and ping pong were the favorites! They loved the board games as well. The views of the water were incredible! SO fun to canoe and kayak right in the backyard. We enjoyed sitting on the deck each night stargazing and relishing in the peace and quiet. Homeowners provided a list of their "favorites" in the surrounding areas which we LOVED! Ate at several local places including Mainly Meats BBQ. AMAZING! Breakfast at Cafe This Way in Bar Harbor was another great find! The blueberry pancakes were the best we've ever had! We cannot say enough about the house and the location (only 45 min) from Bar Harbor! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us! We are already planning our return trip!

The booking process was smooth, check in smooth. Location perfect, house clean and well maintained. The kitchen needed a few minor updates and an ice maker. Owner provided a ton of info on the area. Six of us stayed and there was plenty of room. Loved the canoe and the games. The whole experience was perfect!!!

Our multi-generational family of 10 gathered recently at Hacienda Del Mar in honor of our 50th anniversary. The 6-bedroom waterfront house was large, well-equipped & situated perfectly for our enjoyment of kayaking, tide pooling & lovely vistas on Union Bay. We hiked, biked, ate lobster & went blueberry picking at several nearby locations. Although the front lawn was large & perfect for Badminton, Croquet & Bocci, our favorite gathering place on the property was the large deck with 2 tables & comfortable seating for all. The weather was perfect & we ate most meals on that deck - played lots of card & board games there as well. A wonderful week was had by ALL!

This is a gorgeous home with tons of living space right on the water. The deck was a favorite of mine with wonderful water views while the grandchildren kyacked or swam. There was plenty of space for all of us to spread out in the house and on the property. A bit far from Acadia but the drive there was easy and went quickly. We loved our week at this amazing house.
