Loved the location of this house!! Just be aware that even though it lists that it comes with paper towel and toilet paper - ONLY one roll of toilet paper is given per bathroom and one roll of paper towel in the kitchen. That's all. If you want more, you must provide them yourself.

THOUGHT we were getting luxury home for our family vacation. Built in 1991, it WAS an incredible house but is in desperate need of repairs. VRBO complaints from 2021 unresolved! Landlord’s replies indicate these are resolved but “repairs” are slipshod at best - kitchen cabinet doors loosely duct-taped on, no door for slide-out kitchen garbage cans, light fixtures w/bare bulbs, screens ripped & falling apart, old mattresses & pillows (mattress covers supposedly sprayed with Lysol?) no hot water in basement shower, garbage under beds, dirty socks, trash, & animal feces strewn around patio & exterior. Decking is falling apart, zip-tied together, & DANGEROUS! Basement dorm room sliding glass door almost impossible to open - it bucks like a bronco. Landlord actually told me to go out the front door and come around to use patio and/or for beach access (previous complaints about this 3 years ago). More unresolved complaints: jacuzzi inoperable, bathroom floor tiles missing, ceiling damaged & bare insulation showing, sliding glass doors in queen bedrooms broken & will not open (one handle is hanging by a thread.) Landlord: “don’t use those sliding glass doors,” so some of the balconies are unavailable. Incredible view - water steps away. 3-story windows in Liv room (but WINDOW AC unit badly fitted w/plywood - daylight shows through cracks & temperature control is poor - it gets very hot). With a little effort and a few small repairs, this could be an amazing place!

The location is amazing. The house is very spacious, a little worn but met our expectations. The beach is great, saw some dolphins. Suggest to bring a Bluetooth speaker for tunes.

This house is an awesome place to get away and relax. There are some issues with the house itself, such as part of the ceiling missing and exposed insulation, but nothing that interfered with the security or comfort of the home. The host did advertise a jacuzzi tub, but the jacuzzi function did not work. Outdoor hot tub was also out of service. Apart from those issues, we had a pleasant stay. The neighborhood is nice, and is close to many great restaurants and attractions.

In town for an event during very early spring. Overall it was fun, easy, comfortable and laidback. However looking at the pictures we thought this was a lavish place. It might have been MANY years ago. I do not feel that the place is well maintained. Nothing horrible, just quirky things. Ceiling falling down in one section, cabinet door broken and some of the veneer coming off. Door to outside in dormitory room broken. Window in master bedroom broken (wont close well). Deck is VERY rickety and feels unsafe in many areas. Many lights do not work. I feel that property is slightly more complex than others and it would be helpful for the owner to do a walkthrough and instructional or provide written instructions. Elevator was a huge help at check in/out given the crazy stairs. Art and decor is VERY cool. View was fabulous along with amazing beach access. Short drive to the VB city etc. Lovely community. Overall we enjoyed ourselves once we got acclimated.

Well, first let me say - Lori is very responsive to your communications and needs during your stay - so do not hesitate to contact her if you need something managed. I will say that when I read the reviews last year, before renting this house and the one next door I didn't see all the reviews I'm seeing this year which seem quite neg. After staying there and reviewing recent reviews I will say the following. We had a large group 21 pp that shared two houses - we were 3 churches pooling our resources to make a local counseling conference more affordable for more pp to come. We succeeded in staying at these rentals - we could make our food on sight - the kitchen had all the utensils and bowls, and pans we needed - I don't always find that in houses we rent - it had both a perk pot and a keurig allowing for the various coffee/tea drinkers to do what they needed. these homes are aging and are used by weekly renters so things begin to happen, I do believe the owner knows about them and addressing them - further these houses are for sale. what I noticed I mentioned to the owner - for instance the cleaning service she uses didn't clean something I mentioned it and she said she would get right on it with them. I'm pretty confident the issue was resolved for the next renter - so when I say she's responsive just message her. your on the beach - house is clean - organized and we had our own school of dolphins all week - amazing.

The location was awesome! The dolphins gave us a show everyday! The house has a truly unique feel. The elevator was a help to get our stuff upstairs to all the floors. The kitchen was well stocked with all of our needs. The staircase ensured that we got our steps in everyday. The house needs some repairs but our host Lori is making them happen. Lori was extremely easy to contact and communicate with.

Good stay

Overall, our stay was great. The home is in a great location, the beach is beautiful, and it's an easy drive to most places in the area. The property is very spacious. Some issues we had: Various light switches in the house didn't work (especially in the two queen bedrooms / bathrooms), the outdoor shower wouldn't turn on, the railing on the back deck was breaking, and the speaker system didn't work. We noticed some ceiling damage above the entrance to the downstairs bedroom. It looked slightly patched, but still looked concerning We didn't contact the host about most of these issues (contacted her for the speakers, she said they didn't work) and instead chose to focus on having a good time in the house (which we did!). If these minor issues are fixed, this property would have blown us away. The location is perfect, the house is beautiful overall, and we really enjoyed our stay here. Also, the note in the listing to bring your own towels and sheets should be more visible. We didn't see that until the host reminded us a couple days before we arrived (we were very thankful for that so we could pack some! she also provided a link to a rental service which was nice). I've never stayed at a vacation home before that didn't provide sheets and towels so that was a bit of a surprise. Our fault for missing that in the listing, but still should be more visible so others are more prepared for that

The architecture was very unique. Reminded us of a Frank Loyd Wright design. Breathtaking view… see dolphins surfacing several times every day! The most exceptional aspect of the property is the view- I would strongly encourage whoever stays here to gets up for the sunrise! Side note: On the middle floor, I would suggest fixing the sliding doors - remove the hanging handle, Attach the loose tile in the second bedroom . Provide an instruction manual for basic appliances- : Gen-air, TV, Sauna master bedroom, jacuzzi, resetting WI-FI locations. Locations of thermostats. Overall- exceptional- view- beach- access to basic needs- wonderful neighborhood to take walks- ease of access.

The house is amazing and spacious. The view is breathtaking and Lori is very responsive. Would highly recommend and stay again!

This house is right on the Atlantic and we had the beach to ourselves A LOT. It was a very spacious home and definitely met all the needs of our family. The dramatic staircase is unforgettable. There was an ocean view from basically every room. VB Boardwalk was a mile away by car. We had a few technical and mechanical issues but the host was very responsive. If you’re ok with a lot of steps (or an elevator) this place was a great beach stay!

Great location and spacious house right on the ocean! The amount of space and uniqueness of the house was awesome for our family's desires. The house is in need of some TLC repairs/updates and just with any place you rent nothing is going to be perfect. Most importantly, you are at the beach and even when not on the beach you have awesome views of the beach from the house including watching the sun rise in the morning! We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Was what we expected from the pictures and reviews we read. Could use renovations but everything that you need for being on the ocean is there. And Lori was easy to communicate with, even though we were a little noisy our last night…. Would def recommend

There are no less than 5 direct safety hazards with this property. I took extensive pictures of the property when I rented on 5/26/22.Also, very basic discrepancies from the pictures and listing details are prevalent. Safety Hazards:1. Most glaringly obvious: there are two exposed electrical wires in the living room (I took pictures). They are at floor level.DO NOT BRING CHILDREN TO THIS PROPERTY! Depending on the power coming out of them, they might kill a child or dog. This issue is compounded by the fact that one bedroom had no power at all. Lights didn’t work, fan, bathroom lights, all non-functional. Did someone do un-licensed electrical work? No way of telling.2. Deck railing has a loose column that a child can easily fit through, above a concrete patio below. Again, could easily KILL a toddler! I was told specifically that the deck was safe before the rental. 3. Detached railing on deck. Another fall hazard.4. Stairs to beach are totally unsafe and caution taped off.5. Drywall is coming down from the ceiling! It looks like it was taped or stapled back up? There was clearly severe water damage,and it was not repaired properly. Again, drywall could fall from 20 feet up and land on someone. We attempted not to walk under this area, but it is directly next to the front entrance. There is perhaps a 6 inch segment that had fallen at some point, but landed on a window sill. (I also checked the reviews and it has been at least 3 years since this major repair has gone unfixed)5b. The water damage is so bad that the casings to the ceiling lights are falling out of the drywall. One was totally missing. Several others are about to fall. We attempted to not walk under these lights. Misrepresentations:No doors to the master bedroom or bathroom.Installed microwave did not work.Refrigerator was taped together in at least 3 spots. There aren’t carpets in the bedrooms, furniture is different. No water in the hot tub, totally non-functional Water was coming through the side slider. Could not use patios, as tiles were loose, and there were wasp nests.No central air conditioning on main level. Can't get temp below 80. I could go on, but vrbo has a word limit, and won't allow me to post pictures.Finally, when I confronted the owner of this, she instantly charged me 250$ for bogus repairs. This seems like a scam. The owner will likely respond saying she will fix everything, then make no true repairs, like other reviewers stated.

house was prob nice 30 yrs ago. Was expecting a glamours house. House is literally falling apart. None of the sliding doors worked correctly, Hot tub inside and outside did not work. Jetted tubs do not work. Refrigerator falling apart and actually taped together. Microwave handle glued on and that didnt work either .No shower curtain in one of the bedrooms. no doors at all in the master bedroom Patios were not useable either because of wasps nest or they seemed so detartrated that it didnt seem safe. Piece of cardboard stapled to ceiling, Walk out deck to beach is not safe to use. The downstairs dorm room bathroom had streaks down all the walls. Pieces of the deck were lifting up and railings were loose . Literally had a piece of cement from the building fall down on the deck .Only thing this property had going for it was the view. I was completely embarrassed to invite my guests into this home.

the house was everything it seems like in the pictures however there were some issues with it. The dishwasher kept falling out of it's space when you tried to load it. There were signs of neglect throughout the house. The downstairs bedroom was moldy and dank and not fit for anyone to sleep in. The main living area was fantastic and the space itself was fun to hang out in. Ceilings are falling in above the stairs with half hearted attempts to fix ie plywood painted white. I would definitely rent there again as we had a great time if the place is still standing

Very impressive property. Everything falls in line with expectations for an oceanfront property of this age. The host's customer service was excellent being both very timely and accommodating. Would definitely stay again.

This house must have been magnificent in the past, but has been poorly maintained over the years. There is a collapsing ceiling over the stairwell, the dishwasher falls out of the cabinet when baskets are loaded, the kitchen is infested with ants, loose carpet on a stair, most air intakes look like they have never been cleaned, and the cleaners left an unwashed sheet covered in feces in the washing machine. The beautiful ocean view is the only good thing about this house.

My family and I enjoyed our stay for it had a quite private beach. House was huge and had plenty of room for us. Only down side if anything was just the sliding doors in the master bathroom was hard to open and close.

Owner says just enjoy the beach. House is old, rundown and dirty. Beware of the mold throughout the house it is a safety hazard. Broken everything, ceiling patch about 4 x 5 where bathroom must have leaked. Broken blinds, overrun by ants, grill too dirty to use. Refrigerator filthy and shelves broken. The house was cleaner when we left than when we got there. So disappointing should have done more research. The renters have always been blamed in the responses, too many issues to list. Live and learn!!!!!

This property has a location on Croatan Beach that is absolutely amazing. I have never been so close to the beach in the mid-Atlantic. Lori, the host, is very responsive and quick to answer questions.

This is an architecturally unique house with very unusual features. PROS: It is close to the ocean with a beautiful view and a very private beach. It is located in a quiet, pleasant residential area, yet grocery stores, restaurants, and places of interest and entertainment are nearby. We did not have any issues with bugs, which can be common in humid areas, and we found the house to be pretty well air conditioned given the high ceilings. An abundance of outdoor chairs made it easy to enjoy the large deck and the beach. The manager, Lori, was very responsive and communication with her was easy. CONS: It is essentially a five story split level house as follows: Level 1: garage, laundry Level 1 1/2: Bunk Room Level 2: 2 BR, 2 BA Level 3: Great Room/Family Room Level 4: Kitchen, DR Level 5: Master BR and BA Stairs are peculiar; sometimes you have to walk up stairs to walk down to another level. The elevator does not stop at the great room level. The great room has expansive walls that go all the way up to the top floor ceiling, along with a powerful room air conditioner. The result is that sound bounces around easily, and with the room A/C there is considerable ambient noise. This makes conversation difficult if you have the slightest hearing impairment. There are several issues showing a lack of upkeep. The house has two ice makers, one in the refrigerator/freezer. and another built in....neither one worked. One of the support shelves in the door of the refrigerator/freezer was broken, causing the shelf to easily fall off the door. At least one of the jacuzzis was non-functional, and multiple sliding doors did not work. Master BR shower was dated with door handles that were clearly glued on, and sliding them open was difficult. Oven control knob seemed not to be accurate. Linen was not supplied.

Location was perfect, and far from the VA Beach crowds! Private beach access, and only a few feet from the waves! Extremely soft, sandy bottom for playing in the waves, and at low tide it is waist deep and good for kids! Sand crabs were cute and fun to watch, dolphin sightings every day, and in July 2021 there was a sea turtle nest marked off and waiting to hatch! Lights in the bathrooms are old fluorescent fixtures and need to warm up, but once you figure out the quirks it was a wonderful place to relax and clean up after spending every day on the sand. Lots of room to spread out and great tables to play games in the evening. Very close to NAS Oceana commissary/NEX/Package Store which was great for shopping for Military I’d card holders!

Enjoyed the ocean. House was very nice. Lori was responsive to issues. Would definitely stay again.

The location of the property was breathtaking. Being on the beach was invigorating. We were able to see dolphins and surfers everyday. Lori was easy to work with and was responsive to our requests.

We had a great long weekend in this rental home. The owner was friendly and communicated well. The location was amazing. The only notable issue was the house needs a little TLC. It was showing its age a bit, however, it didn't significantly affect our stay. We would definitely go back!
