The location was peaceful and quiet. The size of the house was perfect for our family. There was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked. The house wasn't as clean as I prefer. The hot tub room needs fixing up, window screens torn, spider webs, carpets need cleaning, etc. The lock on the door of the upper deck was broken, so we had no access to it the entire stay. Overall the stay was very enjoyable.

Great location. Plenty of room to gather or to get some alone time. Group of 10; ages 8 to 61. Clay responded quickly to questions. Comfortable bedrooms.
I will say the house needs a good cleaning. We enjoyed our time there.

Window screens have big holes in them. Sheets were put on beds incorrectly. Some floors in bathrooms were not swept. Leftover trash in one trashcan. Main floor’s air conditioning was not working. Contacted property manager about cleanliness and air conditioning. Was told cleaners would come and spot clean - never came. We overlooked these things and had an enjoyable family time.

The stay was good! But when we arrived: needed cleaning!!!!

We stayed for a week in May of 2024 and we had 6 adults 2 teens and a 9 year old. It was a very big house. Every bedroom has their own bathroom which is a plus when you are sharing with multi generation families. 2 decks with beautiful views of the mountains . The only thing we observed was it needed was a little more detail on the cleaning. There were some cobwebs, the big couch in the basement had hair and hair rubber bands left in the drink holders and floors need a better sweep .

We loved staying at Sunstone. We have decided that it will be our cabin in the future. We have a growing family, it was big enough and has room to grow!

Beautiful view and good location to the Park, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. The hot tub was not working on arrival but Clay responded and we changed out the filter and was fine. The house has some wear and tear on it, and needs some maintenance work. Overall, unit was clean.

We decided for our annual family trip to visit the Smokey Mountains and this place had everything! Amazing views, tons of space for everyone ( 10 adults, 1 toddler), everyone could eat together, lounge around together, and there was enough space for people to have time away from everyone if needed. The hot tub was a great bonus and we even saw a bear laying in the backyard for a little bit on one of our last days! Clay was easy to get in touch with if we had questions and he made sure our stay was great before we left! We will definitely rent this place again!

House needs a deep clean, hot tub didn’t work and needs cleaned. Also, need to put 4 towels, 4 wash cloths in each bathroom at a minimum. Need more dish cloths and dish towels as well.

Fantastic layout and great views.

Overall a great place for large group. Didn’t realize though it was way up the mountain so not the easiest ride up and down. Definitely need a DD at all times. Because it’s in the mountain it’s very private and we saw plenty of bear which was exciting!

Large, spacious property is perfect for large family or group. Great amenities. Easy to work with host.

Beautiful location in Chalet Village. Spacious rental with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. High chair and pack-n-play were an added bonus with 3 under 2 in our group. Highlight of our stay was watching a mother bear and her 2 cubs play in the rear of the chalet. Clay was great to work with and communication with him was always easy. 10/10 would recommend and stay here again. Our 3 generations ages 4 months to 63 loved Sunstone Lodge.

We really liked the location. Very quiet and peaceful. We liked the hot tub and pool table. Nice big kitchen. Great place for family to gather and have enough space for the kids. Could have used a few more towels in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Overall we would definitely would come back.

Group of guys loved this place. Wonderful views of mountains and plenty to keep you busy. Each room had its own bathroom which is nice with a bunch of dudes. Well stocked kitchen too.

The door lock battery wasn’t working upon arrival so we couldn’t re-lock the door and the property manager asked us to drive into town (25 min each way) and replace. Visible caked on dust all over the cabinets so when you open them up, huge dust bunnies fall into dishes. The exterior was dirty and in need of repairs. A huge hole in downstairs ceiling and just a board put up. Extremely worn and damaged carpet. Overall the dirtiest, most unkept, not maintained property I’ve ever rented and it was not discounted at all. We chose this place due to having 1 more bedroom over others we have enjoyed. It was likely a nice property years ago but apparently has had minimal to no upkeep. I have learned a lesson to read reviews more closely, as there were warnings on cleanliness. We will never stay at this property again. We have pics and video of the condition upon arrival.
While I’m not sure what the owner’s could do, pay attention to the bear warnings as a group of them tried to get into our vehicles and one ripped a door handle completely off. There was no food in the vehicles.

We have stayed at this same property for the past 4 yrs for our family Christmas. With there being 12 of us, the house suits our size and need. The grands always ask when we start discussing our Christmas plans if we will be going back to the same place. They love it. If we ever have any issues we call the owner and they get corrected. There are a couple of things that could be updated but that is a personal preference and does not hinder our stay.

The property location was beautiful. The house was large enough for our crowd of 9 adults and 3 children. We enjoyed the large basement family room for movie time and games. Communications with the owner was excellent and he responded very quickly to questions. The kitchen doesn’t have a garbage disposal, which after a week became a little annoying with our large crowd and not a lot of garbage can space. The kitchen could use a few more hand towels to utilize as well. Overall, we had a great time with our family and would recommend it to others.

This house is a great space for immediate and extended family. It had rooms for adults, kids and grandparents. It was a plus having bathrooms in all bedrooms as well as two living area spaces to accommodate big groups.
If you’re looking to spend more time in downtown Gatlinburg or visit Ober Gatlinburg, this is a great place to stay. Pigeon forge is close enough to drive back and forth as well.
Keypad entry is a plus.

Sunstone was a great, comfortable place for my family gathering! The view was fabulous, the kitchen well stocked, the family room a great place to hang out and my grandson learned to play pool! We had special visitors each night - a mama bear and two to three cubs! What a treat! Our host was so kind and helpful with all our questions. Thank you Clay!!!

This property was perfect for our large family. The size of the cabin and the location to nearby attractions, fit our families needs perfectly. There were just a few small inconveniences, but nothing that would hinder us from renting this property again. I also wish I could give the property manager more than 5 stars as he was very quick and efficient to reply to me during the week with a few "minor" issues.
Positives: The five large bedrooms each with an attached bathroom was perfect for each couple. The the large kitchen / dining room was perfect for our big group to all be able to eat together and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed. The lower level was perfect in the evenings for everyone to just hang out together (some in the hot tub, some playing pool and some just relaxing on the very large comfy leather sofa in front of the big screen tv). The driveway was large enough for all of our vehicles and we still had room to play corn hole and ladder ball. The views of the mountains, sunrises and sunsets off the decks were amazing!
Negatives: Cleanliness and maintenance could be addressed. Ceiling fans, air vents and windows could all use a good deep clean, along with the mold on the bathroom ceiling in the kids bunk room. The sliding door on the main floor was extremely hard to open/close, the towel bar in lower bathroom was broke right off the wall, pool cues missing tips and the main door to the cabin does not stay closed unless it's locked.
We also had an issue with using the pool. We were told the owner had not paid the association fees for this year, so we were denied pool access. I contacted the owner, he assured me he had paid, but we were still turned away.
Overall, we had a great trip, made many great memories and enjoyed all being able to stay together in one house with great views of the smoky mountains and a lot of things to do nearby! We would definitely consider renting this house again if we every return to the Smokie Mountains.

Pros: Main floor bedroom/bath and easy access for my elderly grandparents to get around. They didn't have to climb steps at all and able to join us on this trip because of the layout of this rental. Large enough for our group to be together to eat and spread out and do our own thing. We were never on top of each other. Beautiful views of the mountains, especially from the top deck - hello sunrise!!!! Bears came through daily - including one unexpectedly a little closer than my dad would have liked as he was loading up the van.
Cons: Needs a REALLY good deep cleaning more frequently. Lots of spider webs, spider eggs, dust, etc. Also needs some general maintenance and upkeep done. Getting in and out of the driveway requires expert level driving with 3-4 vehicles! With the cons being listed - I know there is a huge shortage of cleaning/maintenance workers in the area so that may be the case in getting things deep cleaned and repairs done.
Overall, it was still a 5 star week and an amazing place to make memories with my family and extended family and to celebrate my grandparents' 63rd anniversary with them. My grandma said, "Let's get it booked for next year!" We would go back again!

being from Michigan our initial ascent to this property was a bit harrowing. We did not realize how far up we were going but once there it was beautiful. The drive improved as we became more used to it on our everyday excursions. The home was terrific and VERY accommodating to all of our family's needs. We had 4 couples, 2 twenty yr olds (bunk room), and 2 little ones. We loved having our own spaces and bathrooms. The only exception was we felt things could have been cleaned (dusted) and cared for a little better. With that being said it was small potatoes to our experience and we would recommend to anyone.

Sunstone Lodge, Gatlinburg, TN
The property was perfect for a large family gathering. There were a few problems: blender didn’t not work well, air vents were terribly dirty, alarm system did not work (we were told that), cue sticks were missing tips, owner had not paid association fees for this year, so we were denied pool access. These were minor problems, but could and should be addressed. Air conditioning was great! The property was not easy to find the first time, but we figured it out from then on.

Family vacation
We. Rented this property and invited our children and grandchildren to join us. 12 of us. The house was wonderful. Big enough for everybody to have their privacy but spaces for everyone to be together and have a blast. We cooked every night and played games and karaoke in the huge comfy theater room. Beds are very comfortable. Saw bears every day. Only recommendation would be blackout shades in bedrooms. Great vacation.

Spacious property with stunning views of the mountains.
The property is roomy and accommodated our family of eleven very well with its large gathering spaces. Kitchen was well stocked and dining room was spacious.
The property is located near Gatlinburg with easy access to both Pigeon Forge and the entrance to the park. The house offered spectacular views of the mountains.
The house could have been a bit cleaner and is in need of some maintenance. Windows needed cleaning and sliding door did not operate as it should. We were not able to get the large television downstairs to work, but that may be that we simply didn't know how to operate it.
For whatever reason, the owner's txt or email with the entry passcode for the house was not received. We worked with Vrbo for approximately 2 hours for them to approve and find us another property. Meanwhile the owner did receive our txt/email and was able to forward the passcode. The owner was out-of-town and only had spotty cell service. This information is being shared to explain the low rating given to "communication with owne" and "check-in process".

Great place
We really enjoyed our stay at this location and it met all of our needs. We rented this property for a family vacation of 3 families and it was plenty room for us. Each family took a floor. My husband and I was on bottom floor with our 2 kids. My sister in-law was on middle floor. My brother in law and his family was on top floor with their family of 5. We did not feel congested and was glad that it really looked like the pictures this time. Hot tub was working and clean. Last year when we rented a cabin that was not the case. My 16 year old said the cabin was more then he expected due to the outside looking plain.. he loved sharing a room with his brother because the bunk beds where truly full size beds too and bottom. All beds where so comfortable I love the foam mattresses definitely would be renting again

Gatlinburg with Friends
Beautiful Chalet in Gatlinburg. There were FIVE adult couples total and it was nice we all had our own space and bathrooms. The fifth bedroom in the basement was designed more for children with uncomfy bunk beds and corners full of cobwebs. It was also hot and hard to control the temperature in that room. The shower also squealed the entire time you were taking a shower. Not the most comfortable room in the house. The hot tub had a panty liner floating in it when we arrived so it didn't make for a welcoming experience. The entire home could use an upgrade on the decor.
We loved the location of this home with the private back yard and overlook of the mountains.

Gatlinburg visit
We were sold on this chalet because of the handicap accessible. My 86 year old Mom was with us. The place did have a ramp and bars in the one bathroom, but that was it. The main floor bedroom, which should of been the handicapped accessible, had a bed that sat so high that my Mom could not get in it. She had to sleep in a chair the first night. After that we layed the mattress on the floor.
The bars in the shower were too low and the shower bottom was very slick. She couldn't use it.
The front door did not latch, so it had to be locked at all times to stay shut. The slider did not slide, nor did it shut. You had to pick it up to open it. It was heavy, I could not do it, so my time on the balcony was very limited. It also did not shut all of the way, or latch.
Half of the toaster didn't work. The kitchen decor was filthy. The lighting was horrible. The dimmer switches didn't work properly and there were bulbs out.
Under the beds was filthy. There was socks, trash, and toys under them. The windows were so dirty you couldn't enjoy the view.
The house was beautiful, but pricey. I wouldn't mind that if these details were addressed.
If you have a handicapped person this is not the place for you.

Beautiful location
Our group of 12 had a wonderful time! Close to downtown Gatlinburg and many popular trails in the National Park. Also an easy drive to Pigeon Forge. The 4 large bedrooms were perfect for all of the adults and the Queen Bunk Bed room was ideal for the 4 kids (ages 14, 7, 5 & 3)! We cannot wait to return next year!

Wonderful house in the woods
The house was perfect for our annual family trip! The view was great and we got to see a mama bear and her two cubs playing in the backyard during our stay! It was fully stocked with everything you could need for entertainment and cooking with a couple days of hand soap and necessities! The only downfall was some of the cleanliness There were spider webs and cob webs all over the house, in the corners, on all the windows, in the screens so you couldn’t open the windows, hornets nests in the INSIDE of the house that made the stay inconvenient. We understand we were in the woods, but there were multiple spiders and wasps in the house from the webs/nests inside the house. None of the remotes to the TVs worked, even though we followed instructions and all the lights were working, making it difficult to watch tv or movies together because you could not hit the play button for the DVDs or surf channels to find something to watch. The towel rack in the basement bathroom was knocked off and the toilet paper roll in one of the top floor bathrooms was not there. Lastly, the floors looked clean but weren’t cleanly enough. The first night there, we had to wash our feet twice because they were black from dirt after walking on the barefoot on the floors and then wore socks the rest of the time. With having a child there with us, it wasn’t great to have such dirty floors with them playing on them all.
These were small inconveniences compared to the overall trip, but something to note.
Overall, we had a great trip and enjoyed all being able to stay together in one house with great views of the smoky mountains and a lot of things to do!
