We felt welcome in the Bordal house from the first minutes, Susana personally met us and showed around. There is a beautiful garden, swimming pool, vegetable garden, and banana palm trees. We enjoyed having dinners in the garden during our stay. Susana also gave us lot’s of great advice of activities around Funchal and the red of the island.

Love the place. It was perfect for us three. Just a shame we couldn't make use of the pool so much as it was cold- couldn't be helped as it was in February. Susana was very kind to let us check-in early. She looked after us very well. Loved the welcome fruits and wine plus the cake that she baked us. It's also very nice of them to allow us to pick fruits and herbs in the garden.

The house with two bedrooms was great for our stay with our teenage son. Comfortable, clean, simple/cozy, good beds and a modern bathroom with rain shower. Well equipped kitchen and Susana even brought us an electric BBQ grill when we were talking about grilling fish for dinner. That’s just one great example of the kind of hosts that Susana and her family are. Bordal Houses are next to their own home, but completely separated, giving full privacy but with occasional moments to see each other; usually ending with some useful tips for an even better holiday! The beautiful garden and pool including its herbs, veggies and fruit make it a difficult decision each day of whether to visit the beautiful island… or just stay at home! We did both :)

We absolutely loved the house and the location, but be (mentally) prepared for the walk home. The road - like most roads on the island! - is steep.

We had a fantastic stay at Bordal Houses! We stayed in the one-bedroom villa which was all very clean and well equipped for cooking in the evening. Susanah was a brilliant host- she picked us up from the airport bus stop, and left home-grown fruit, jam and cake with us during our stay which was always a lovely surprise. The pool area was beautiful and the perfect end to our afternoons after a busy day of walking. Bordal Houses is within walking distance of Funchal. We had a wonderful stay and really didn’t want to leave!

Bordal House consists of two separate flats on top of each other and even though the pool is shared, the top apartment with its own patio was very private. Very tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. Fully equipped kitchen and nice, large bathroom. The hosts were super friendly and helpful and provided us with a delicious chocolate cake and Madeira wine upon arrival. The garden is full of fruit trees, a vegetable pad, and tons of fresh herbs that you're free to harvest. The outdoor space of the house was also well-maintained and looked after.

Unfortunately there was a construction site behind the house (July 2022) of which the host informed us. Nothing they can influence but something to keep in mind if you're looking to spend more time at the pool or traveling with small children (also keep in mind that there is no parking on the super steep road so you need to walk up or down every time you need to get to the car). There were a lot of flies which weren't super annoying but insect nets in front of all windows would have been great to keep them out.

loved the pool area , garden, living space, bedroom and bathroom. can rave enough about the house that we stayed in and arranged transfer for us to the airport for early departure. Susana is a very kind host and also Martha was great to drop us to the airport. the view from the property is priceless. the property is on a steep hill. everything in the property is as it seems. you also share the pool with the other guests who stay on the property. you don’t have the same entrance as them and have different levels we stayed in the top apartment. the property had a herb, salad and fruit garden that you could pick from

coffee machine wasn’t clean and didn’t work properly initially the property was double booked but the issue was sorted out within the hour, very stressful to deal with but as soon as Susana was able to deal with the issue everything was handled with care. if you are booking this property contact the host to ensure you’re their only people booked for your stay. Susana did do her best to make it up to us, ensured we had everything we needed and more, sweet treats, fruits, we had beer and water on arrival. if it wasn’t for this initial problem I would’ve given the property a 10/10.

Everything

The place was wonderful, very clean, cozy, everything essential was present. It was easy to walk to the places of interests or to the restaurants. The bakery and food store was also in a walking distance. Host was very kind, very fast to reply any questions and even surprised us with a chocolate cake! I would recommend this place to everyone - with kids/family or without.

Perfect place to explore Madeira from in a nice neighbourhood with lots of restaurants. Susanna the host was excellent, personal welcome on arrival, lots of tips for shops, restaurants and trips on the island. A few nice gift surprises on arrival and during the stay. Very comfortable and clean appartment in a green oasis of quietness.

No parking at the appartment but a few hundred meters further up on the hill.

Wonderful garden, very private and calm space, very well equipped apartment with lots of personal touch. Great location to explore Funchal and all of Madeira. Host was very friendly and accommodating, giving us lots of private space and yet checking and making sure that everything is fine and giving recommendations.

The apartment is beautiful, the garden and pool superb and It Is very tastefully decorated so you feel much at home and money well spent. The view is a gift in the early morning. Susana is really helpful and try to make your stay easy and enjoyable.

The only downside is that parking is a pain in the nearbies. They say that in the future they will provide parking right aside the apartment. A must!

We all loved the house interior design and outdoor feeling, a beautiful swimming pool and the organic garden with fresh fruit and veggies every day... Amazing hosts, super helpful with a lot of great tips and welcoming details. The location was amazing and it all exceeded our expectations. The kids didn't want to leave!!!

I highly recommend this cosy, lovely property. The property has stunning outside views and is in the good location near city centre which has amazing restaurants and bars. The owner is lovely and she made us feel that we are special guest. She provided everything and recommended the best places to see and the best food to taste. She welcomed us with Madeira vine and pitanga homemade jam and she forwrote every detail of where we can find everything! We felt overwhelmed with the owner attention. We travel a lot and so far this villa and service that we received was the best! They provide amazing pool, slippers, towels, robes, comfy beds. Little electric BBQ were provided as well. They grow in the garden fresh lettuce, carrots, bananas, pitanga fruit and other veggies which were available for us to eat, how lovely is that?! I think that is amazing attention to make us (as a customer) feel very welcomed and enjoy our stay at this villa. When I will return to Madeira I will definitely be back to this place! P.s thank you Susana for everything you are the most lovely lady in the world! And for home made banana ice cream that you made and shared with us it was the best ice cream we have ever had! Susana as a host is a charming person with so many tips and recommendations about the city ready for you if you need. Spacious place with garden and own pool and all so stylish.

Bordal house and the garden is beautiful and well equipped and it could an oasis of tranquility despite being located in a busy part of town. The pool is lovely and well maintained, the garden is large and very nice. The hosts are kind and welcoming. There is a nice garden sitting area.

The property is located in a very busy part of town. We struggled a lot with access to the property which is through a busy, very steep hill road without a pavement or a walking path. It isn't safe for young children and very uncomfortable for older people. Street parking is not always available. Toiletries and consumables have not been replenished during the 8 day stay. Linen has not been changed either.

An exceptional location and property with a very welcoming and friendly host. Highly recommended!
