This was an ideal spot for our family long weekend. The house was spotless and well-appointed. It's a great location between PS and JT. The pool was lovely, although we could never manage to get the hot tub to work despite following the directions. We would absolutely recommend.

Valerie is responsive and great to work with as a host. Back yard, hot tub and pool are wonderful. Protects against much of the local wind and concentrates the sun nicely. We felt safe here. Easy check-in and check-out.

We had the pleasure of staying at Valerie’s place for the month a month and absolutely loved it. Checkin was easy and we were always able to communicate effectively with Valerie. Our favourite of course was the backyard, I wish I could take it home! This is a true oasis, is very private and protected from the wind more than most homes would be. Kitchen had everything we needed for meal prep and having a BBQ was great as we tend to grill quite a bit. Bed was super comfortable. Added bonus was the use of the garage, so convenient to park, unpack and added security. We wanted something quiet and away from city traffic. Desert Hot Springs is a low key small town that has all of the amenities yet is close enough for a short drive to major shopping and sightseeing. A stay at Valerie’s home is highly recommended, you will not be disappointed. Just remember it is a 20+ minute drive into Palm Springs/palm Desert as the Valley is very stretched out. If you are looking for a retreat, peace and quiet and a gorgeous yard this is it! Thanks again Valerie and we will see you next year!

My family and I (kids - 15 and 11) had a great stay. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The backyard is amazing and a real treat since it was cooler than normal during our stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the grill was a bonus. We really appreciated the flexibility for late checkout since we had an evening flight. I would highly recommend to others traveling to the Palm Springs area!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The place is comfortable and has everything we needed. The patio, pool, and hot tub were wonderfully relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. This was the perfect place to spend Christmas (there was even a Christmas tree in the living room when we arrived!). Another plus, that we’ve never had but really appreciated, was the use of the garage to park the car in.
The house is just as shown in the photos and the homeowner was very communicative. We would definitely recommend!

Very relaxing atmosphere
As a vacation rental owners, we appreciate contemporary furnishings and comforts. This property did not disappoint. The exterior environment and the interior comforts were class A.

Terrific four weeks in this property.
Really enjoyed the quietness of this property and the layout of the backyard to fully enjoy the sun, shade, pool, jacuzzi and fruit trees. The extensive landscaping provides very nice protection from the wind on the days that blew. Valerie has been very responsive and easy to work with. We have already booked for a future stay.

Will be returning
Perfect for my wife and me. House is neat and clean and well stocked. The backyard pool and spa are even better in person.
To top it all off there's a power reclining sofa and loveseat for watching the 65" tv. We will be returning

Beautiful restful retreat
This home was even better than than it looked on line. Decor was a little quirky but in a nice way. Not a cookie cutter house. The backyard is beautiful and we loved getting in the spa and sitting in the sun in the morning. Very quiet. And spotless. Well appointed kitchen so if want to cook you will have what you need.

Awesome place in Palm springs - just perfect
This is a perfect property. Everything was in place, clean and functional. We loved the pool, hot tub/spa, extra towels, perfect backyard with lemon, oranges and grapefruit trees.
Topped up with an excellent entertainment system, kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Stores, restaurants were within 2 mile distance. We brought our board games, but the home had some really good ones too. Extra beds in case, along with bedding. Very responsive host. If you are thinking, I'd say, just book it.

Family oasis
Wonderful backyard for a family with kids. The pool was always heated so we could utilize it no matter the weather. The property was very clean and slept two adults and two kids comfortably. It was nice to have a third bedroom but it seemed a bit of a waste. Would have been good to have another bed for a second couple or a desk to work remote. As jt was it wasn’t very useful. The property was great for us because we just wanted to lounge around with the kids but as others noted, this is not the place you want to be if you’re looking for the Palm Springs vibe.

Wonderful Get Away
This was a wonderful weekend getaway!
Spent the majority of our time in the wonderful private backyard pool and spa that is perfect for lounging with plenty of options for shade for daytime use. The shallow lounge pool was great to cool off in and the salt water instead of chlorine was a major plus! The host was very gracious and worked with our needs for an early check in and check out.

Nice Weekend Getaway
Going into the 2nd year of the pandemic, we needed to get out of our house and have a change of scenery. This was the perfect place to do just that. The sun was out and we BBQ'd and swam in the pool all afternoon and then hung out and made drinks inside while enjoying tv in the evenings. It was perfect for us.

Relaxing 50th Birthday
My 3 close girl friends and i rented this home to celebrate a 50th birthday. We wanted a relaxing private environment with lots of sun and a saltwater pool and this visit gave us everything we were looking for! It is close to Joshua Tree so we could do some hiking and still make it back for relaxing by the pool later in the day. With the amount of cooking we did, we wished we had non-stick pans but other than that we truely had a wonderful trip!

Perfect Weekend Getaway
We had everything we needed and enjoyed the spa, sitting poolside for breakfast or a glass of wine, ordering local Indian food from grubhub, and watching movies in the evening in the comfortable living room area. Short 20 minute drive over to Palm Springs.

Wonderful Oasis
The property was just as listed with clean interior, modern furnishings, smart TV, and the private pool was amazing! The outside temps were very hot, but the AC, outside misters, and perfect temperature of the pool made it unnoticeable. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice place
The place was cleaned very well. Lots of supplies in the kitchen. It was nice to have access to the garage for our car so it didn't bake in the sun. Pool was very nice. The hot tub jets were not really jets though. If youre looking for real jacuzzi jets, you won't get them. The property was as advertised for the most part. I would question the cable TV in the listing. There was indeed a cable box, but only about 10 channels available (most of them in spanish). None of the standard Cable channels were available (FX, AMC, ESPN, USA, etc). It was only a minor inconvenience because we spent most of the time in the pool. But, in the hottest part of the day, we wanted to take a break. I would've brought a DVD player had I known. I also would've liked one more umbrella over the pool. There was not much respite from the sun. Overall we enjoyed our experience a lot though.

Desert Hot Springs
Home and especially the garden and pool area were exactly as promised- great! Access to Palm Springs is easy - about 20-30 min drive and no traffic. Access to towns further East like Rancho Mirage or Palm Desert is more like 35-45 minutes with traffics, so factor that into travel plans.

A modest, comfortable home
Excellent. The only drawback was the sun leaving the back yard too early in the afternoon; but you cannot do anything about that. The kitchen was well equipped. the house was homey. the pool was clean and operating. The only negative, I felt, was not having a local contact person in case something was wrong.

Review of Rancho Del Oro

Great stay
There are very few negatives about the house itself. The inside was relatively clean although we felt a more thorough cleaning could have been done before we arrived. Otherwise, the kitchen is well stocked and the beds and couches comfortable. Great for hanging out with the kids. I booked the place mainly because of the backyard photos. The backyard/pool/spa are as advertised and are great places to hang out. Very private, spa gets hot and pool heater works great. Worth it for the backyard alone and the flow to the kitchen.
Just be aware that you are not in Palm Springs and are missing that “feel”. It is a straight 20 min drive right into downtown PS and it is not a bad drive all in all. We went to dinner several nights around downtown PS with no problem. DHS is a little “rougher” around the edges but did not feel unsafe. Lacks dining options. The proximity to Joshua Tree is great, 35-40 mins. Strongly recommend the park and multiple visits. House location makes that more possible.

Great spot convenient to Palm Springs
A friend and I stayed in this great house for four nights while we checked out the Palm Springs area. Desert Hot Springs itself isn't anything exciting, but the house made it totally worth it. We went into Palm Springs each day (for all of our dinners and one breakfast), and also spent a day at Joshua Tree, but also spent a lot of time just chilling out in the back yard and pool. And that pool was amazing. It was nice to be able to heat it (probably not necessary during the hot season) and not be charged extra. The house is just as advertised, very clean, with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, and there were plentiful towels, etc. Use of the garage was very nice. And the owner was very responsive when I sent her a few questions during the stay. If you don't mind being a few miles from all the action, and want a wonderful place to relax, I recommend this house.

Clean, well maintained property with great backyard
We enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean and perfectly set up for our family of 4. We don’t have any complaints about the property, but we were very surprised at the location. We assumed it was going to be similar to Palm Springs or Palm Desert, but it wasn't. Desert Hot Springs is a very run down area and we didn’t spend any time there (shopping, eating, looking around etc) as we didn’t feel comfortable.

clean,tidy and well appointed. all the appliances and stuff worked. Valerie was pleasant and helpful
2 small quibbles. One bedroom had twin beds which was less than ideal for 2 couples. In my opinion there too many hidden fees that added to the total cost. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we would definitely stsy there again. Oh,and it was nice to be able yo put our cars in the garage!

A little Oasis
We stayed here for a weekend with our daughter and partner, and it was a lovely, quiet oasis. The property has everything you need on side, and the back yard/pool area is beautifully landcaped - we spent most of our time outside. We did a few hikes at Joshua Tree, close by. Desert Springs is not an attraction itself in terms of restaurants or site-seeing, but this is a perfect location if you are happy to cook for yourself, chill out and relax. It is also a short drive away from Palm Desert/Palm Springs.

Wonderful home!
My wife and I and our two kids stayed here over Memorial Day weekend and really enjoyed the property. The home has a nice vibe to it, clean and well equipped. The back yard was private and had a nice lay out. We especially enjoyed the fresh water pool which was perfect for the hot weather, and jacuzzi was great at night. The home is central to everything - 20 mins to Palm Springs and 30 mins to Joshua Tree. We would definitely stay here again.

Great House about 20 minute drive from Palm Springs
House was exactly how you see in pictures, beds, bathrooms and amenities were top notch!! Even though the weather was a bit cold we thoroughly enjoyed the expansive backyard with heated pool and hot tub. We had several very windy days but not to worry the yard is nestled in a small valley which affords shelter from those nasty winds. The family room is very comfy having plenty of large leather recliners situated in front of one huge and curved TV-- a great spot for movie nights and relaxation!! We stayed a week and it was nice to have home like amenities so we didn't have to eat out every meal. Gas BBQ was prepped to use for dinner on the outdoor patio with table and chairs.
Only suggestion would be to modify the patio door as it is heavy and rather difficult to open and close. Neighbor's dogs at the top of the hill can get noisy in the mornings; but only became annoying twice for a couple of minutes and then it was perfectly quite. So not a problem.

Good Family Property
The home was need, comfortable and well maintained. The pool was perfect for our daughters, who pretty much lived in it. The property was right in between Joshua Tree and all the activities of Palm Springs. Pretty much a 30 minute drive to everything you would want to do (Joshua Tree, Tram, Indian Canyon, Whitewater Canyon, Palm Springs for lunch, etc....)

Great value!
Stayed for four days and enjoyed our time here. ‘Quiet Time’ seems to apply only to renters while a homeowner behind the house let her yapping dogs out at 2 AM each night......
House is well supplied , clean and maintained. Down sides were the relative distance to PS, but getting a better value for the distance, and no second queen or king bed. I could see a family of four fitting very well here.

My friends and I loved Valerie's home! The pool was too perfect for the heat and coming home from Coachella to the jacuzzi was icing on the cake! Thank you so much for letting us stay at your gorgeous house, made making memories with my friends that much better!
