Sandra's apartment was all my husband and i needed to enjoy all that the Outer Banks has to offer. The location is perfect for getting around to all the major sights in the area. Having access to the community pool for $6/ person was a nice respite from the extreme heat one day, and being able to ride the provided bikes there was an added bonus. The apartment itself was cozy and we enjoyed the decor. Very clean. Sandra was a great host.

My partner and I had the best time on our first trip to the Outerbanks. This cozy cute and adorably decorated apartment, hosted by Sandy, was so close to all the attractions in Nags Head. We were within a ten minute drive to the beach, golf course, Jockeys Ridge and Lighthouse. Highly recommend to anyone for a fun packed vacation!

First Timers in the OBX. We enjoyed our time there very much. The place was clean and the vibe was very fun. We would definitely recommend another couple to stay here. And we hope to visit again. Thanks Sandra for sharing your amazing home to us. We will always remember this trip.

The minute we walked into our place, we loved it! The place is funky, whimsical, warm and cozy, with such a good vibe. It's close to the beach and OBX attractions while feeling private in a quiet neighborhood. We will be back!

The Backyard was a nice calm after a day at the beach. Location was great, it was close to just about everything and in a nice quiet area of Nags Head. The apartment was clean, well stocked, great towels, and comfy bed. Thank you Sandra for such a great weekend! We'll definitely book for our next Nags Head trip.

We had booked the Backyard a couple of years ago but unfortunately Sandra was unable to host due to an accident. We knew that we wanted to rebook this year because the space looked so special and we’re glad we did!
The Backyard was comfortable and convenient and so nicely decorated. Sandra was a great host and we loved our visit!

Exeptional accomodation...clean, spacious, quiet, well stocked kitchen, beach supplies and comfy furniture/bed with great AC and fans for circulation. Private with outside space overlooking the yard. Fun eclectic beach vibe and excellent communication and availability of host. Safe and secure with driveway parking. Location was perfect for exploring north and south of OBX with restaurants and markets abound.
Beaches are beautiful and widlife peaceful areas as well as martime history ( and some history in the air also...😉).

Hi, this was the second time staying with Sandra at her beautiful home. Her list of restaurants is spot on and she is very accommodating for guests. My wife and I love the area and the restaurants and beaches.

Sandra is very nice and has very good taste. My husband and I enjoyed the beauty of the interior and the beautiful gardens and outdoor patios and dining areas. We had everything at our fingertips and it exceeded out expectations. We slept really well and the inside was super comfortable. Will want to return.

We would stay here again. Sandra was very hospitable, welcoming, happy and kind. The part of her home where we stayed was comfortable, spacious, clean, close to everything and very affordable. Sandra had thought of everything and has done a wonderful job to ensure your vacation is better than you thought it would be, including having amenities you didn’t know you’d need, such as a beach umbrella, umbrella anchor for the sand, beach chairs, bicycles, outside shower to rinse off sand, etc. we are looking forward to coming back and staying here again.

The property is well kept, clean, comfortable and has the most beautiful and eclectic decor! Sandra was so welcoming and gave us all the information we needed about the area to have an amazing trip. Checkin and check out was easy, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook up some amazing meals and she provided beach chairs/umbrella, bikes and all the towels you'll need for a week...not to mention that whatever she washes all of the linens in smells like heaven. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something that feels as cozy as home.

This was our first time at OBX and everything far exceeded our expectations. The backyard was the perfect home away from home for us. Sandra’s kindness, hospitality and attention to detail was spot on. We loved the short bike ride (bikes provided) to the beach and hanging in the quaint yard. Suggestions for food checked all our boxes and service was great everywhere we went. We truly do not have one complaint. I would give 10 stars if allowed.

The Backyard was just as advertised and also just what we needed this week - no hassles and no stress! Sandra was an excellent host and was available for questions or recommendations. We have stayed here twice now and never had any issues. We highly recommend staying here when you are in The Outerbanks!!!

Pictures do not do it justice. Great location to everything. Check out the ridge at sunset and the Epstein beach access (showers and bathroom).

We loved the location of Sandra’s “Backyard.” We visited most of the attractions suggested by the travel brochures and it was always nice to come back to the friendly neighborhood and clean, welcoming accommodations.

Sandra's Backyard is a whimsical mash-up of color, art, and creativity. Everything you could need is there. I enjoyed my stay but wish the mattress was not so soft.

We loved the proximity and easy drive to Jockey’s Ridge, Fort Raleigh on Roanoke Island, and the more remote beaches of Pea Island.

Cozy apartment in perfect location.
We loved staying at The Backyard. It was the perfect location for all we wanted to do at the Outer Banks. Sandra was a great hostess and has made the apartment cozy, eclectic and personal. We walked to the Sound for sunset. We also walked to the beach in the morning but drove with our chairs and coolers for the day. Straight shot to public beach parking and access. We would definitely stay again.
