Our first time on OBX had great time. We will be back. Sandra was great as our host.

The Backyard was a nice calm after a day at the beach. Location was great, it was close to just about everything and in a nice quiet area of Nags Head. The apartment was clean, well stocked, great towels, and comfy bed. Thank you Sandra for such a great weekend! We'll definitely book for our next Nags Head trip.

We had booked the Backyard a couple of years ago but unfortunately Sandra was unable to host due to an accident. We knew that we wanted to rebook this year because the space looked so special and we’re glad we did!
The Backyard was comfortable and convenient and so nicely decorated. Sandra was a great host and we loved our visit!

Exeptional accomodation...clean, spacious, quiet, well stocked kitchen, beach supplies and comfy furniture/bed with great AC and fans for circulation. Private with outside space overlooking the yard. Fun eclectic beach vibe and excellent communication and availability of host. Safe and secure with driveway parking. Location was perfect for exploring north and south of OBX with restaurants and markets abound.
Beaches are beautiful and widlife peaceful areas as well as martime history ( and some history in the air also...😉).

Sandra is very nice and has very good taste. My husband and I enjoyed the beauty of the interior and the beautiful gardens and outdoor patios and dining areas. We had everything at our fingertips and it exceeded out expectations. We slept really well and the inside was super comfortable. Will want to return.

We would stay here again. Sandra was very hospitable, welcoming, happy and kind. The part of her home where we stayed was comfortable, spacious, clean, close to everything and very affordable. Sandra had thought of everything and has done a wonderful job to ensure your vacation is better than you thought it would be, including having amenities you didn’t know you’d need, such as a beach umbrella, umbrella anchor for the sand, beach chairs, bicycles, outside shower to rinse off sand, etc. we are looking forward to coming back and staying here again.

We loved our stay! The place was cute, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The bikes were also a huge plus. We rode them everywhere! We would definitely stay again.

The property is well kept, clean, comfortable and has the most beautiful and eclectic decor! Sandra was so welcoming and gave us all the information we needed about the area to have an amazing trip. Checkin and check out was easy, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook up some amazing meals and she provided beach chairs/umbrella, bikes and all the towels you'll need for a week...not to mention that whatever she washes all of the linens in smells like heaven. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something that feels as cozy as home.

This was our first time at OBX and everything far exceeded our expectations. The backyard was the perfect home away from home for us. Sandra’s kindness, hospitality and attention to detail was spot on. We loved the short bike ride (bikes provided) to the beach and hanging in the quaint yard. Suggestions for food checked all our boxes and service was great everywhere we went. We truly do not have one complaint. I would give 10 stars if allowed.

The property is spacious and well appointed. The interior was clean. The only cleanliness issue was outside. The outdoor furniture was not clean and could not be used. Otherwise, the stay was enjoyable and convenient for the area attractions.

Pictures do not do it justice. Great location to everything. Check out the ridge at sunset and the Epstein beach access (showers and bathroom).

Excellent location and very quiet. Very well appointed, to include all kitchen utensils and toiletries, two tvs and tons of reading material -- including my favorite, "Blue Highways." Sandy was very helpful and provided us with a lot of "local" information.

We loved the location of Sandra’s “Backyard.” We visited most of the attractions suggested by the travel brochures and it was always nice to come back to the friendly neighborhood and clean, welcoming accommodations.

Sandra's Backyard is a whimsical mash-up of color, art, and creativity. Everything you could need is there. I enjoyed my stay but wish the mattress was not so soft.

We loved the proximity and easy drive to Jockey’s Ridge, Fort Raleigh on Roanoke Island, and the more remote beaches of Pea Island.

Cozy apartment in perfect location.
We loved staying at The Backyard. It was the perfect location for all we wanted to do at the Outer Banks. Sandra was a great hostess and has made the apartment cozy, eclectic and personal. We walked to the Sound for sunset. We also walked to the beach in the morning but drove with our chairs and coolers for the day. Straight shot to public beach parking and access. We would definitely stay again.

The Backyard was such a nice place to stay. Everything was so centrally located and the rental was right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to be. Sandra was also a very helpful and responsive host! Thanks!!

Sandra is the greatest host I’ve ever stayed with. The apartment is incredible, the backyard and koi pond are beautiful, and both the beach and sound are easy distance from the apartment. First time in the OBX, will come back for more and definitely staying here when we do!

Nags Head long weekend beach get away
The location could not have been more convenient to everything we wanted to do. The wedding venue was just down the street. We really enjoyed exploring on the bicycles; it was quick and easy to ride to the beach, restaurants and bars! "The Backyard" was perfect for our needs, and the homey garden vibe was better than a hotel. Thanks Sandra for your hospitality!

Between the Beach and the Sound
This property fits perfectly for our two-day stop at the OBX to experience Nags Head and Kitty Hawk. The one-bedroom apartment is comfortable, quirky, and convenient to the beach and the sound. There is a nice backyard and deck for relaxing as well as beach chairs and bikes. We would rent the property again.

We enjoyed our stay here, and Sandra was a wonderful host. We were unable to use the bikes due to the high winds, but we appreciated that they were there for our use. The location is fantastic here, as we could travel in either direction with no problem. We tried out many of the restaurant suggestions that Sandra has on her list, and we suggest you start there if you're looking for a place to go.
If we go again when it's warmer, we'd look to stay here again.

This is a lovely apartment with a cottage feel. Very private, very quiet yet close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. Great place for a couple looking for a laid back getaway!
