This is our 2nd time at Birds and Bees. I think my granddaughter said it all: "It's like we have our own private resort." The owners are the best.

A delightful blend of nature and comfort. Beautiful cottage (Birds n' Bees) with lots of gorgeous tropical flora... and plenty of fauna! The birds are all around, so if you don't like birds, this place is NOT for you! The hosts have fitted the cottage with modern conveniences, drinking water, fully equipped kitchen, and king-size netted bed. A bottle of Antigua Rum was waiting for us upon our arrival. We hated to leave!

Spent an amazing week here last month. Janie and her husband are incredibly hospitable and their property is a true gem. Thank you so much and I look forward to returning.

This is our 3rd stay at Birds & Bees Cottage - 2 weeks each time, we have spent a total of a month and a half here and we love it more each time. Birds & Bees is special as it's an eco-home where you not only have a view of the harbor but also get to interact with all the best island nature including hummingbirds, a tortoise, a variety of other birds that will sing to you, beautiful lizards, horses, and 3 beautiful dogs. We love the cool breezes that come off the water right up and through to our bedroom and living space. We made the best meals in our galley kitchen with everything we need right there. Janie & Geoff were (and are always) so gracious and accommodating and will offer you every thing you need. When you arrive they have wonderful local fruits, juices, breads, coffee and even rum all there awaiting your arrival! But the best part for us is the beautiful pool with a gazebo where you can relax with a beverage, nap, swim short laps, commune with nature, or read a book all with the best view on the island!

By the end of the first day, we were already planning a return visit. After that, we just sat back, relaxed and let the natural beauty of the property and the surroundings wash over us. This really is a magical place. Janie and Geoffrey are wonderful hosts, and our daily doggie visits were a cherished part of our vacation routine. We will be back - soon and often.

This was our second time staying at Janie and Geoffrey's stunning property (April 2023). Please read my detailed review from last year (Feb. 2022, published on March 4, 2022). This time Janie accommodated our extended family of five adults and two young grandchildren. Just like a year ago everything was wonderful. We had both cottages, Birds 'N Bees and Sapodilla, as well as a spacious bedroom suite. Our favourite spot was the pool and gazebo area (for our sole use). It is surrounded by beautiful plants, flowers, and palm trees with stunning views in the distance of Falmouth Harbour. This area also has excellent Wifi. The cottages are charmingly furnished with comfortable beds, lovely linens, mosquito netting over every bed, and well equipped kitchens. This time we rented a large Toyota van which held all seven of us. A rental vehicle is necessary as the grocery shops and restaurants in English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour are a short drive away (not walkable distance). The road up to Janie's property is rough but you do get used to it. With such a large group and two children Janie graciously allowed us the use of her large washing machine on a couple of occasions. We drove to Pigeon Point Beach (twice), Half Moon Bay, Galleon Beach, Dutchman's Bay, and Runaway Bay. The three younger adults in our group hiked to Rendezvous Bay twice from Janie's property - a 30 minute hike and well worth it. We took in Stingray City and Laviscount Island (giant tortoises) which the children loved. We also highly recommend the Creole Lobster Lunch Catamaran Cruise which starts from Jolly Harbour. There are many great restaurants in the area. A great take out pizza place is Famous Mauro's Pizza which is just a short drive away (wood-fired brick oven pizza). Overall another amazing holiday in Antigua which was made very special by our hosts, Janie and Geoffrey, and their magical property.

No screens, no AC, no TV.
Perfect host, view and best of all breeze.
Just the simple pleasures. It’s close to English Harbor, Shirley Heights, horseback riding, restaurants, grocery store, liquor store, ice cream, hiking, beaches. Janie’s place is the antidote in this fast pace, immediate satisfaction world. Not for everyone but perfect for Mark and me. Thanx Janie

Everything about this property and the hosts were a delight.
A beautiful haven amongst the natural world.
Comfortable and tranquil with everything we needed.
We loved being visited by the resident dogs, all with their own super characteristics.
Janie and Geoffrey are such wonderful and interesting people and could not have been more helpful to us.
Thank you for our stay.

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation spot with awesome views, this is your spot. Very nice pool and gazebo - views from pool can't be beat! Cottage is also quite comfortable, and we had no issues. Hosts are very accommodating and friendly, there if you need something and not if you don't. We believe the English Harbour area is some of the nicest on Island. Many choices for eating out (Sweet Ts a favorite local) many spots in/near the harbor. And you can hike (drive if adventurous) to Rendezvous Bay (my favorite spot) and pretty much have it to yourself often. In regard to safety or wildlife in cottage, all doors, windows have heavy wooden shutters that can be closed and locked/deadbolted. We did at night for light and to mask the tree frog sound, otherwise open and let the breeze come thru. The dogs do a great job of protecting the place but also don't bother you if you don't want them around. We came in on Sat. and it was Weds afternoon before we realized we didn't have a T.V.!!! For that alone it's worth it . Great value, stay, experience.

All the people we met on site were very welcoming and there was a very good welcome pack. The grounds and pool area are lovely The fact that the doors and windows were always open for the breeze it felt a little insecure leaving out valuables there when we went out and similarly at night as the gates never seem to be locked

I would just like to point out that obvious-That ALL of the local wildlife will be sharing the space with you! This is includes lizards, birds, moths, spiders and mosquitoes. Please look up the fauna of Antigua!
If this is your thing your stay will be amazing and you will want for nothing ie toiletries, cleaning/cooking products etc.
If you're hiring a car then a 4x4 is a must!

Our time in Antigua will be reflected fondly start to finish with our stay at the guest apartment, we refer to as the tree house.
Jami and Geoff have clearly worked hard to create…
The rustic charm, peaceful atmosphere and the homely welcome. The pleasure really was ours.. James and Joy

Fabulous stay at The Birds & Bees cottage last week. Lovely quiet spot with super views from the pool down to Falmouth and English Harbour. Janie was a lovely host - nothing too much trouble and plenty ideas for beaches and hikes. We found the island to be very quiet in October with beaches to ourselves - particularly in the mornings. Recommend the 40 minute hike from the front door up and down to Rendezvous Bay. Sone restaurants closed but the majority open for lunch and happy to accept walk-ins - a favourite of ours was lunch at Boom (opposite Nelson’s Dockyard) and a chill-out on the poolside beds afterwards. We enjoyed the company of the friendly dogs, as well as the humming birds and yellow finches. Only a few sharp showers but otherwise weather was perfect. Accommodation very comfortable and lots of space for the two of us. We’ll be back hopefully soon!

We loved this place, its so fresh and different. It would not be every ones cup of tea but it was certainly ours. The property is so tranquil and full of nature, we loved sitting on the huge veranda and watch the bananaquits and humming birds feed, a couple of birds use to fly through the cottage, so hide the bread!. The cottage is beautifully designed and furnished, really clean and well equipped. The pool and surrounding gardens are a delight. The view from the pool terrace is breath taking. Virginia is a brilliant host, and just wants you to enjoy her corner of Antiguan heaven. The welcome pack was very much appreciated too.

Perfect vacation
Janie and Geoffrey are great hosts and their property is amazing. We enjoyed the very open aspect of the cottage and the regular visits from the birds and Janie's three dogs. The location is ideal for trips into Falmouth and English Harbours, where there is a wide selection of restaurants. It was a very restful ans relaxing stay and one we would love to repeat.

Paradise
If you’re looking for total peace and to get away from it all Birds and Bees will tick all the boxes. Janie is there if you need her but also leaves you to it if you want. The views are wonderful, watching the birds on the veranda in the morning with our coffee was a lovely ritual and of course looking out to sea. The cottage is well equipped and cleaned regularly. The dogs were welcomed by us regularly but you have the option not to allow them in. I celebrated my birthday at the Pillars, Admirals Inn at Nelson dock which had wonderful views and staff lovely and good good.
Also tried the Caribbean fare at Sandra’s fusion restaurant. Driving was easy and we visited many of the beaches , Pigeon bay was our favourite which had Bumpkins and Catherine’s to get food and drink in at lunch time. Supermarket where we’ll stock but don’t expect Sainsburys standards, all good organic I believe.
We definitely recommend Birrds and Bees and the lovely, elegant Janie Go Go Go!!!!

Home away from home
This is one of the loveliest and most relaxing places we have ever stayed. The beauty of nature surrounding us amazed us every morning as we awoke to the birds twittering or the doves cooing. This is hard to write because there is so much to say. We felt as though we had been transported to a gentler and kinder time which was exactly what we needed after the turmoil of the last 2 years. And the pool! I rose up after floating peacefully and really felt I had been transported to another place and time. We rented a car as we were there for 2 weeks..a four-wheel drive is a recommendation. You are only 10 minutes from English and Falmouth harbors with wonderful places to dine or just relax to the views. The hosts are incredible and you will see them if you want. We wanted because they too were wonderful people. We can't wait to get back there. Oh dear...I almost forgot our best buddies. Janie has 3 dogs who are loving and fun to be with. They helped us feel as if we had found home in Antigua.

An absolute delight!
We were fortunate enough to stay at Janie and Geoffrey's beautiful property for two weeks in February. The large cottage has everything you will need for a very comfortable stay. It is clean, very comfortable bed (king size), large verandah with comfortable sitting and dining areas, charmingly furnished, and private. The kitchen is well supplied and Janie leaves provisions for breakfasts and snacks. The Wifi works very well from the cottage, verandah, and pool area. The pool is a delight - beautifully surrounded by bougainvillea, palm trees and other indigenous plantings. The pool is also very private and shared only by one other couple whom you rarely see. The other smaller cottage (Sapodilla) is also well out of sight of 'Birds & Bees' so there is lots of privacy. Hummingbirds, bananaquits, turtle doves, and others entertain you on your verandah. Janie's three gentle dogs also pay you visits if you wish. If you have questions while there (or before you arrive) communication is great with Janie. All emails were returned very quickly. The road leading to 'Birds & Bees' is rough, however, we were encouraged to rent a vehicle which was a little higher off the road (a Toyota Rav 4) and with slow and careful driving had no issues. A rental car is essential to get into Falmouth and English Harbour (a short drive away). There is no air conditioning but it is not needed. A tall floor fan and an over-the-bed ceiling fan kept us very comfortable. The trade-winds coming in all windows and doors are lovely too. We so enjoyed our peaceful, tranquil visit to beautiful Antigua and hope to return soon. Thank you Janie and Geoffrey!!

Fabulous and Chilled out break
Fabulous cottage and location in close proximity to both Falmouth and English Harbour.
Janie and Geoffrey were very gracious hosts throughout my stay and were close by if there were queries but also left you to explore on your own. I appreciated the opportunity to drop my bags with my earlier than planned arrival due to the very early BA flight and efficient COVID process at the airport.
The cottage and garden is as described and the pictures don't do it justice and its a toss up whether sitting on the deck watching the hummingbirds or lounging by the pool admiring the view was the favourite activity of the afternoon.
If you're a bit homesick for your dogs, their dogs are always happy to greet you with their doggy smiles and I loved the cuddles and check in's from them. There's the option to use the small gates if you're not a dog fan, but I never once used them as loved getting their visits.
Location wise the cottage is in a great spot as only 10 - 15 mins away from Falmouth and English Harbour with its shops and restaurants.
Overall a fabulous stay and I'll definitely be back.

The perfect anniversary vacation
Janie’s place, Birds and Bees, is an exceptionally beautiful place with lovely gardens, inviting pool with a scenic view of Falmouth harbor, a pond with chairs that would make you sit there for hours reading and friendly dogs that check on you now and then.
My wife and I chose this place to celebrate our 35 the anniversary and we could not have chosen and more memorable vacation destination for 6 days.
We were greeted by the most beautiful dogs, friendly and welcoming. The owner Janie gave us so much attention and assistance with settling into the cottage and help us with ideas of nice restaurants, beaches, and local amenities. She then leaves you to enjoy the cottage and we call on her whenever we had to . Our goals were to eat local Antiguan food and the street vendors and restaurants provided that beyond par especially Caribbean Taste restaurant.
Covid precaution is strict, which is a huge plus, you must wash your hands, dry with paper towel and sanitize and mask wearing for all stores and even the street vendors also had the same requirements.
The cottage is genuinely nice and airy and always have a cool breeze no need for ac although there are fans, never had any need for them. Kitchen is fully equipped, and Janie was so kind to have coffee, milk, and water available on our arrival. She has a great collection of novels.
Bathroom toiletries were provided.
Cottage is well lit and one of the safest places I have ever stayed. There are adequate closet space and drawers to store your stuff, so many clothes hangers we never had enough clothes to put on them!
Easy access to the main thoroughfare to drive to the capital St Johns or even to get meals at local restaurants and grocery.
Many trails to take leisurely walks, bring sneakers as walking early morning or late evening is a great way to explore the many other beautiful scenery. Beautiful white sand beaches all over the island and there are beach chairs located under the bed.
Janie surprise us with a bottle of Prosecco for our anniversary. We popped the cork at the pool later that evening. WI Fi works well and there is no TV we never miss it!!!
We will be back !!!!

The Very Best
Birds and Bees Cottage is the BEST place to stay in Antigua, hands down! This was our second time staying with Janie and Geoff, and we enjoyed it more than our first visit over two years ago. The cottage itself is roomy and romantic, set amidst abundant tropical flowers on a quiet hillside with a lovely view of Falmouth Harbor in the near distance. Every morning, loquacious birds visited us on the wonderful verandah and we shared our tropical fruit with them (and a few lizards as well). We love the openness of the cottage that is well cooled by the sea breezes wafting up from the harbor below. It’s well located close to English Harbor and all the amenities; and one of the best beaches on Antigua is a short 10-minute drive away. A dip in the pool is a fantastic treat at the end of a long day exploring, and its airy gazebo on a high vantage point has great views of the harbor and surrounding area. It’s so relaxing to get some shade, read or take a nap there. The grounds are lovely overall, and since our last stay, Janie and Geoff installed a beautiful pond on the property with blooming flowers. Janie and Geoff are long-time residents of Antigua and can advise on things to do, best beaches, provisions, and restaurants. On arrival, our kitchen was generously equipped with enough food and drink to ensure we could put off a trip to the grocery store until later – nice after travelling all day to get there. An added bonus for us were visits from the three lovable dogs, since we had to leave ours behind. This property is the quintessential airy and eco VRBO experience we love. Waking every morning to the beauty and simplicity of Birds & Bees, we thankfully forgot our media and other non-essential needs, which we gratefully left behind. The wi-fi works great in the house and at the pool so it’s easy to catch up on a tablet or phone. We were so sad to say goodbye but dream of the day when we can return again!

Magical
We have the most lovely week at Janie and Geoff's gorgeous home. They are extremely kind, thoughtful and generous hosts and left all sorts of treats to welcome us. We had to spend a lot of the week working on our laptops, but there really is no place more peaceful to do it than the beautiful balcony, surrounded by hummingbirds, flowers and glimpses of the sea.
Would recommend to one and all!

Beautiful tranquil spot!
The property is so beautiful, it was impossible not to relax, even though I was working remotely for most of my stay. Janie and her husband are so thoughtful and welcoming - I hope to be back again! If you have time, definitely do the 30 min hike to Rendezvous Bay - I had the whole beach to my self!

Paradise
We absolutely loved our stay at Janie and Geoffrey's. We stayed there for almost a week and were sad when it was time to leave.
There's plenty to do and see nearby (we LOVED a little place called "Hummus Antigua". The kitchen at the cottage is also fully stocked and we cooked many meals there.
There are friendly dogs on the property who will come visit if you open the door for them, which we loved.
You will definitely want a car. Though the road is road to get up to the cottage, we had no issues navigating it with a compact car. I'm sure a SUV would work better, but we didn't find it necessary.
Overall, the property is beautiful and Janie and Geoffrey were helpful and responsive. Also, they are COVID certified by the government, so there's no issues there.

Deserves 6 Stars !!
We arrived at a very difficult time for the world Covid -19 was making life increasingly difficult for all. Our greeting from Janie and Geoffrey made us feel relieved and safe
it is a beautiful homely cottage everything felt so right. The wildlife surrounding the cottage is amazing the birds kept us amused some of them are such characters.!! We love dogs and adored Janies dogs visiting us.
The cottage is very clean with absolutely everything you would need for your visit plus more. We found the mobile left for local calls most thoughtful and did need to use it when ringing the hire car company. As all other reviews have stated it is the perfect place to stay, and will definitely be going back especially as we had to cut our stay short to take the last plane out of Antigua to the UK. Janie and Geoffrey are the absolute perfect hosts. May you both stay safe from the virus Take care

We have stayed at Birds and Bees Cottage twice and will return soon. If we could create our own private stone hideaway in the Carribean tropics with birds, flowers, a quiet pool, and a distant view of a busy harbor, this would be it.

Just what we wanted!
My husband and I were looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway to celebrate out 25th wedding anniversary. Birds and Bees was everything we hoped it would be and more. Serene, peaceful cottage with beautiful foliage and flowers and fantastic views. We rented a 4-wheel vehicle for the week (car rental a must at this location - use Titi as recommended by owner) so we could explore the island. Rendezvous Beach quite a bumpy and almost scary experience to drive (husband lived the off-roading) but well worth it. Secluded, beautiful beach with good snorkeling.
The owners were on hand to answer questions and provide recommendations but very unobtrusive. Many attentions to detail including providing a cell phone for local calls, a cooler we packed lunches in for our excursions and even thick comfy robes.
My only complaint is that we can't stay longer.

Incredible place
We just got back from a week’s stay at Birds and Bees and our only wish is that we could have stayed longer. This place is nothing less than amazing! It’s the prettiest vacation rental we ever stayed in and the attention to detail and hospitality was on a whole other level. Janie and Geoffrey are incredible hosts that made sure we had a great vacation. From setting up an extra bed for our 3 year old daughter, providing basic provisions, a bottle of rum, beach towels and chairs and loads of good recommendations for beaches and things to do and see. Janie even invited us to join a yoga class on her veranda. We loved being surrounded by the tropical garden and visited by the four legged and winged local residents including brightly colored hummingbirds and even a tortoise that walked up to us one afternoon on the lawn and delighted our daughter.
The pool is beautiful and our daughter loved swimming in it so much that it took some great deal of convincing to persuade her every day to leave it and go exploring one of the numerous gorgeous beaches the island is blessed with. Thank you Janie and Geoffrey for a perfect vacation, we can’t wait to return!

Caribbean Perfection
No one should ask for more of you are looking for the perfect intimate private rental Antiguan accommodation experience. Birds and Bees Cottage has all you need in a delightful mix of old Caribbean architecture and New England decor. Every modern facility is available in a property which is more spacious than some of the booking site photos suggest. The arched windows and verandah doors opened up in the daytime ensure delightful trade wind breezes refresh the house continuously - air con is irrelevant. As ever in Antigua outside living on the verandah is the norm and the verandah in B&B Cottage is the place with its views over the wonderful garden towards magnificent Falmouth Harbour. The bird feeder nearby ensures the regular arrival of the most beautiful Hummingbirds within feet of you as well as other species. The private pool while only a few steps away is large and in a superb setting and has a wonderful gazebo to shelter from the sun when required. We have been to Antigua many times in the last 10 years and sampled a variety of excellent rental and hotel accommodation and this place is at the top for us. It’s far enough away from the main activity areas in Falmouth and English harbours to feel quiet and secluded but not in reality when you need to go shopping for provisions nearby or access the restaurants, bars and fabulous beaches but a short distance away. Cloggys our favourite sports bar and restaurant nestling in the Yacht Club Marina is a must for anyone visiting. Our favourite beach anywhere is Rendezvous Bay but a mile away on the road from the Cottage. Who could ask for more? But make sure you rent a 4x4 to get easily to these remoter spots. Janie and Geoffrey were delightful hosts and a pleasure to meet. Nothing was too difficult albeit we needed little other than was already in place. If you are a twosome and need both a retreat but also the convenience of one of the best holiday locations on Antigua... we heartily recommend Birds and Bees Cottage - Amazing Value.

Perfect resort alternative
We just came back from a lovely stay at Birds & Bees Cottage. Janie is a wonderful host who had us very well stocked upon our arrival - things like coffee, milk, fruit, granola, bread, butter, bottled water and a bottle of rum! All were much appreciated after a long day of travel. It was nice not to feel rushed to drop our bags and grocery shop. She also gave us beach towels whenever we needed them and had a couple of beach chairs as well. We loved the open air living - open doors and windows, the fantastic breeze, the hammock, and birds popping in and out for a quick visit. True island living! The kitchen is very well equipped with all the tools, dishes and supplies you need. The pool and lounging area is a great option with a beautiful view of the harbor. Janie gave us great insight into local events, restaurant and beach recommendations, and other things to do on the island. This is a perfect place for those who don't want the resort option and we can't wait to come back! We already miss the cool breeze and watching the birds and hummingbirds on the porch. Thanks, Janie, for the wonderful accommodations!

Thoroughly recommended.
We stayed at Springhill (Birds & Bees) for two weeks and totally loved our holiday. The venue is truly unique, spotlessly clean and has all the facilities you could need for a tropical break. The gorgeous cottage sits within the grounds of the owners property in a beautifully kept garden. Whilst the owners property is quite near, the lush vegetation and positioning ensures complete privacy. Having said that the owners are delightful and couldn’t be more helpful in pointing you in the right direction for the right beach or restaurant and for insights into island life.
The property is in a great location at the south of the island near to Falmouth and English Harbour so it’s close to lots of facilities such as restaurants, beaches and places of interest.
A car is essential but the owners of the villa are very helpful at providing good local car hire company names. Plus having a car means that you actually get out and about to see the real island rather than being closed up behind the gates of an exclusive hotel.
Our typical day involved breakfast on the veranda with the humming birds and friendly lizard followed by a visit to the beach (normally pigeon point beach), lunch at the beach, late afternoon by the pool and an evening dinner either at the villa or at a local restaurant.
There are four friendly dogs that pop by for regular visits and quickly become part of the family (only if you want them to - we did)!
We felt very sad to leave and would definitely like to be back!

Lovely Stay at Birds and Bees Cottage
My husband and I just returned from a fabulous 7 night stay at the Birds and Bees Cottage. I know that I am only repeating what previous reviewers have stated, but the cottage is absolutely charming, very comfortably and beautifully furnished and although very close to all amenities, very private with wonderful views overlooking Falmouth Harbour in the distance. Yes, the road in is definitely on the extremely bumpy (!) side, but we actually quickly got used to it and our little Toyota was up to the task! It was so nice to have Janie and Geoffrey on site and Janie provided much information on sites to see, good restaurants, etc. In addition, the many little touches not often seen in VRBO rentals were greatly appreciated - a wonderful welcome basket of breakfast items that saw us through the week, loads of condiments available and an extremely well stocked kitchen that had us wanting for nothing, although in truth we only made breakfast there.
Although we had worried about everything being open and having no air conditioning, we found ourselves loving the set-up. The temperatures inside the cottage were so comfortable, and I can't recall when I last slept so well. Waking each morning to the beautiful views through the open windows, and hearing the birds was delightful, and I am definitely missing that now back at home! We loved the birds and lizards always present at the feeder - and the night sounds while enjoying coffee and music on the deck. Although there is another small cottage on the property, the two are well separated, and private. And the dogs are delightful - very friendly and polite, but not intrusive. I loved seeing one or more of them just wander through the cottage and come by for a pat and a little nap on our deck. This part of Antigua is beautiful, and we would definitely recommend a stay at the Birds and Bees Cottage.
