Great location for our family weekend getaway. Lots of room for all of us and elk in the yard! Great stay!!

The biggest complaint was that the TV wasn't working. We called to have it fixed, and 2 gentleman showed up to "fix" the TV. They said they couldn't fix it. However, on the way out they grabbed my nephew's handheld Game Console, his Switch. Luckily my nephew saw them and ran out the door after them. They pretended to not hear him and my dad yelling at them. My nephew ended up having to taking his switch out of the guys hand to get it back. When we called to let the office know what happened, they didn't even know who they sent to our house. They sent a second guy to "fix" the TV. He had to open an account to get the TV working, which made us wonder if they even ever had an active account. We had called the office for more towels and never received them. At check in they tried to charge us again for the cleaning fee and dog fee that we had already paid through VBRO. We also experienced a strong cigarette smell throughout the house that was an issue for our family with breathing issues. We did notify VBRO about our experience.

Nice and roomy. Location to town is very convenient. Could use a frying pan and sharp knives. TV never was working with poor response from management about problem. Would have liked to watch world news!

The frig is really roomy, the dishwasher worked great. The heating system in the house is up-to-par for keeping you warm in the wintertime.We didn't use them, but there is a clothes washer & dryer just off the kitchen. It is a dog friendly house and we brought two with us. Large yard and adjacent areas for them to walk.We were a group of six for two nights, with ten more visiting for Sunday to celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary.The total price was on the high side, but for six adults and two dogs, who knows.I would recommend the use of this house for those looking to get away, but be close to downtown and of course the Stanley Hotel, just .8 miles away. A nice walk if you would like to get the exercise.

This house was great. Had everything we needed. The only thing I wished I had was some kind of fry pan. Plenty of pots but nothing to make eggs in. Overall a great place to stay.

An excellent choice for multi-family gatherings. LOTS of sleeping space and bathrooms. Beds very comfortable. We were 2 families with 3 kids under age 5 plus two grandparents. And we didn't use all the sleeping spaces. Big main kitchen - very well equipped with more than enough dishes, flatware and lots of pots and pans. Everything in working order. Another small kitchen in the downstairs unit, but no stove there. Extra frig space great.Decor was a bit dated and nothing fancy, which was fine for us because of then not feeling that we had to be hovering over the kids all the time because of breakables. We were only there for 4 days so did not use the washer/dryer, which were small (apt. sized) so don't plan to wash lots of linen or towels, but fine for small loads of clothing. Outside deck (needs some maintenance but is safe) with beautiful views which we used a lot. Great gas grill in working order. And the owner had recently furnished the deck with lots of chairs so we could all have sitting space if we wanted, in addition to the table and chairs outside for eating.We were there during quite warm days (mid-80s) but the evenings cooled off very quickly, so no AC was never a problem. Beautifully cool at night. Windows all had screens in good condition, so no problem having windows open at night.A 5 minute drive to Safeway and town - probably a 20 minute walk, and you have to walk on a main, busy road, which is why we chose to drive when we had the kids with us. Quite private at the end of a dead end street. Lots of space for car parking. And - the elk who visited and had dinner in the front yard was an added bonus!A very good choice for lots of people to stay close to town and Rocky Mountain Park.

Easy.

We knew that the property was not new and needed updates. We knew some pictures might not reflect the property accurately. But, we also knew it could accommodate our large group (6 adults, 2 teens, 4 kids) and was a good location close to RMNP. The house has many positives. We rented both floors, meaning we had 5 total bedrooms and 7 beds plus one working couch bed. It was clean. The kitchen has been recently finished and was mostly well stocked. But we had several frustrating issues during our stay. Number one is that the dryer simply did not dry clothes. We were counting on having a washer and dryer. They were both small, which is fine, but we would put a load of socks in for an hour and they would still be completely wet. We called the office several times, and, presumably, someone came out to fix it. It still did not to work. We were told to put fewer things in the dryer. We did this, but it still did not work. We ended up simply hanging up all of our clothes inside or out on the deck. Not the end of the world, but frustrating, especially with three different families staying. Another frustrating aspect of the property is the deck. One reviewer had already commented that the pictures showed many chairs as well as a fire pit. When we arrived, there were 3 chairs on the deck and no fire pit. No fire pit with the dry climate and a wood deck seems understandable (but don’t advertise it in pictures, please), but having 3 chairs on a property meant for 12 plus people is simply ridiculous. We called the office, and they delivered 5 or 6 plastic chairs. Still not enough for our whole family, but better than 3. The deck itself is another issue. At one point, the leg of a chair went through the wood with someone sitting on it. The wood is rotting and is a a huge safety hazard. Perhaps the reason for only 3 chairs is to discourage people from sitting on it. Another safety issue occurred when I plugged a lamp into an outlet downstairs in a wall with wood paneling and it started smoking. The cord was completely frayed. I was very glad it had been me plugging it in and not one of the children. What a terrible fire hazard. Suggestions: -update your pictures (some furniture in pics is NOT at house) to accurately represent current house -replace leather couch upstairs- it AWFUL and bed inside broken -kitchen needs reorganizing (ex. 12 champagne flutes but 2 wine glasses, pastry cutter (?) but no carrot peeler)

This is a nice place to stay, but it needs some work. The back deck needs to be replaced, & there is a table in the basement that has a broken leg.

The manager at discovery lodge was rude not getting not to us but to other customers. Poor communication prior to our stay and after. Not given information about how to check out, we left a message but was never returned. Discover lodge tried to change the price significantly after we were already booked. Had to get Vrbo involved. House needs upgrading, needs new carpet. Beautiful area.

Very nice, clean, large and close to everything. Management was very helpful and nice. Gave 4 stars for Accuracy Of Listing as showed a porch fire pit/chimenia but did not have one.

A little disappointed with check in. Previous occupants late checking out. Interior of property was great. Exterior is getting rough. Plenty of room for the 11 of us. All the things we needed for an enjoyable stay. Elk visited us on several occasion which the grand kids enjoyed. Overall a great week.

We loved the layout, all the rooms and the decks were great. The location spectacular. The checking was a little slow and some things need some work but it worked for us. We had a child graduating in Fort Collins and we spent the day there and then rented a party bus one night so the grad and friends could spend the night in town. We had 22 year old to 88 year old and it worked for everyone.

Our stay was pretty good for the price! Customer service was great. The house is not super updated and is right off the main road, but we didn't mind. Great views and close to the park and downtown. We would stay here again. If you looking for a fancy cabin, this is not it. But this is a clean VERY large home that fits A LOT of people and has plenty of refrigerator space and accommodations for a large group!

The house was perfect for 12. We were three families and had plenty of space and comfort. With bad weather hitting us we were able to stay another night at the last minute with no problems. The service was also excellent. Maintenance cleared our snow by the time we were up in the morning and the few times I called with a question it was quickly answered and resolved. Very minor was the toaster only worked in bagel setting which means only one side of the bread toasted and the toaster oven also didn’t toast our bread just warmed. Looks like the oven part of it worked but a new toaster would be nice. We ran out of hot water one day but maintenance told us to allow about 30 minutes to an hour due to the size of the water heater, but other than that we all enjoyed the back yard, back patio, and the house very much. We would all choose this house again!

Loved that it was close to everything, and seeing the wildlife around us ! Plenty of room for the 11 people in the house. The beds were a little to firm for our taste but everything else was great !

Overall, we had a good stay. Easy rental through VRBO, and smooth transactions. The property was clean and some updating has occurred, and it is spacious! Proximity to Estes and RMNP is great! However, we were disappointed that the pictures of the deck did not truly represent the property. The back deck is wonderfully huge, but there's only three chairs and there wasn't a fire pit as depicted in the photo. This was disappointing as we were hoping to have a fire and be able to sit out on the deck, but there wasn't enough chairs, and there's plenty of room, but no table either. This space could be improved immensely! The other disappointing thing was there wasn't a tv in the master bedroom, as also depicted in the photos when I rented it. This wasn't a huge deal-buster, but none-the-less, a bit misleading. The front out door space could also be better if there were some seating available. And the rear outdoor area could be improved by having some sort of play equipment for kiddos, and possibly a hot tub. I was also a little disappointed that we couldn't really walk to town because there really isn't a good sidewalk to do so for a few blocks. Inside, everything was clean and spacious, and there were two updated tvs in two family rooms, which is nice! The furniture was newer and modern as was the kitchen. Plenty of bedrooms and sleeping areas and baths. We also appreciated the washer and dryer (although the dryer is really small). The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of plates, glasses and utensils and other kitchen equipment. There was abundant wildlife on the property. The first morning I was there, I saw two black bears. The second or third day, my son saw a bunch of elk, and so that was pretty cool to see. I am not sure I would rent the property again, but with a little more TLC, and updating this place could really be a lot nicer! But overall, it was a decent place to stay, and its proximity to Estes is really pretty good, and pricing very fair. We had no major complaints other than the aforementioned ones. It was an above average place and great for a larger family!

Overall a great place to stay. Wish it had been air conditioned to stop the noise from the main road. Great location, nicely furnished. Did not see deer or elk, though (or bear!).

Property itself was great place for our my active bunch to have fun when babies napped! House was very comfortable, well supplied, and well laid out for combined families. Finally Discovery Lodge staff was pleasant, responsive and eager to be helpful! Thanks!

We had a wonderful week in the Otis Cabin. Our large family appreciated the spacious multi story layout and all ages had plenty of their own space. The kitchens (both upstairs and downstairs) were well stocked with utensils and plenty of appliances. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms had lots of sundries and towels. We liked the location which was perfect to see fireworks over Lake Estes. Instead of fighting traffic after the display we were “home sweet cabin”. Check-in and check-out were super easy! The cabin is close to downtown...movie theatre and Safeway grocery store. Everyone agreed we need to book this again!

We voted on 4 stars for this property. House was well stocked with cooking utensils, which was essential since we cooked every night. Property is close to the grocery store for all those last minute needs. The children loved running around in the house and the yard. We got to see elk, deer, and lots of bunnies right in the yard. The only issue we had was the dishwasher backed up into the sink when it was ran. They "fixed" it one day, but obviously it was not really fixed since it continued to happen.

Stayed with my family of 6 adults and 6 children and it worked great for us. One family had the downstairs and the other the upstairs. First night we were there, 3 deer walked through the property! Every day they were down the street under a deck on another property resting. The next night an elk was grazing on our property! Very exciting! Close to everything but very quiet. Clean and well equipped. First time we had lived without air conditioning for years and it didn't bother us at all! Just wish all the windows had screens on them so we could have opened and the patio door didn't have a screen. Wonderful stay though! Thanks Discovery Lodge!
