Beautiful Classic Home Near the Historic Center of Merida
Casa Flora was so close to the historic center of the city, close to Paseo de Montejo and central to some of the best restaurants. Casa Flora was so spacious, comfortable and the prefect place to end the day of sightseeing!

Great place to stay
I did enjoy the stay, the house was very big and had all we needed for our stay and right on downtown

The house is most convenient and comfortable
Barbara, the landlady, is charming and responsive. Ana, the house manager, is efficient and also quite responsive. We only used the kitchen for coffee as there are so very many excellent restaurants in the immediate area, but it was equipped for cooking, if we had wanted to!

Perfect location. In the heart of Merida.
Ideal location. Great house. I would want to stay here next time I visit.

Great Time
Myself and a group of friends stayed at Casa Flora for several days.
The house is great as it provides very accommodating space for non family members. In some regards each bedroom is a suite. The patios provide inviting outside space, both upstairs and at ground level. The interior pool was fun, spending time having a drink and talking.
Location was tremendous. We were close enough to al centro to walk as we wished. Merida is a wonderful time. The street Casa Flora is on was quiet and safe. We had the fortune of being there for the New Year and the celebration was excellent. We also used it as a starting point for several side trips, Progresso, Mayapan, Mayan ruins. Also saw (hesitantly) a bull fight.
The staff that greeted us was excellent, the house was clean and the kitchen could have provided easy meal preparation, although we did not take advantage of this. All services were wonderful.
Barbara, the owner, was prompt in answering any questions we had before making final reservation.
We strongly recommend Casa Flora for anyone's visit to Merida.

Having rented this house partly on the basis of the effusive reviews, I felt obligated to write this one to provide a different perspective. Three of us rented this house for two weeks. I have rented 5 houses in Mexico and this would rank fourth in quality and fifth in terms of value for money. There are pros: the location is perfect – 4 blocks to the main plaza. Lots of square footage, though not all that effectively used. The beds are comfortable. The appliances work. The plunge pool is a refuge from the heat. The wifi is generally pretty good and the washer and dryer work well. The light controls are pretty advanced and if you like big canvases of warrior princess themed art (I did), you’re in luck. The decorative touches are nice, although calling the place Art Deco is a stretch. The owner is prompt and friendly.
And yet…. You’ll notice in the photos that the kitchen is not featured. This is no surprise – the kitchen is awful, by far the worst of the 5 I’ve experienced. It’s decently equipped with a gas stove, a couple of coffee makers, a good blender, and lots of plates. There is almost no work space – if you’re at all serious about cooking it is severely cramped. The pots and pans and the cutlery are worn out and cheap – with normal use we bent more spoons than Uri Geller. There is a decent sized yard and two large terraces off the bedrooms on the second floor, but nothing much has been done to make the spaces appealing – no plants, no furniture on the front terrace, nothing inviting at all. The water feature and outdoor shower are connected to a complicated piping system that leaks when you turn on the tap on upper terrace. We didn’t come here to watch TV but the tiny medieval set – looks like about 14” diagonal – with no cable connection is far below the contemporary standard of a flat screen to which you can attach a computer to show movies. There is no cleaning – not even once a week – which is a unique in my experience (in two rentals there was daily service, which was overkill). The bathrooms are drab and comparatively small. The paint is peeling in several rooms, no mirror in one of the bedrooms, and the general aura is that of a house that is rented but not lived in. There’s no “aha” feel to this house, and it’s certainly not luxury digs. It was a place to crash, not an oasis to enjoy hanging out in. It wouldn't take a lot of money to make the place more appealing.

Spacious, cool, peaceful
In October 2014 five of us made Casa Flora our home for ten days. This was a dream come true. The home is spacious and tastefully decorated. The amenities are perfect, the kitchen sufficient and we loved the
walk -in showers. There are original paintings throughout. All rooms are very large and the house is laid out so that all five of us could find our private place to be alone, read, draw or just meditate on the serenity of the place. All of us fell in love with Merida, the people, the food, the nightly entertainment out in the plazas. We cannot wait to return. Barbara has a lovely home and the details of rental are seamless. A purified water cooler is in the kitchen, and refills can be purchased within walking distance. If you need a cab they are plentiful and cheap. Nearby restaurants are delicious. Oh, and the pool is so lovely and so welcome on a hot afternoon.

The perfect Urban Oasis in Historic Merida
Just finished creating a months worth of unforgettable memories in Casa Flora Merida.
A great big thanks to this beautiful home, and the absolutely lovely owner, and property manager.
From the start of considering this amazing home, we knew that it was something very special.
Our first communication with owner Barbara, was prompt, informative...and a sheer pleasure.
The process of reservation was flawless, and swift.
Property manager, Ana, was also a pleasure to meet upon arrival. Ana speaks perfect English, and is very kind, and knowledgable.
The incredibly beautiful Art Deco style of this home is refreshing, and the building is located in what has to be considered the most ideal location for tourists and locals alike. The building construction creates a cool interior temperature, although all rooms have air conditioning, and fans for your comfort.
The kitchen is well accessorized, and equipped for all levels of cooking.
We have moved on to Mexico City, and am already missing our merida home😘

Lovely vacation place!
My husband and our 2 kids stayed at Casa Flora for 2 weeks and had an amazing time in Merida. It was our first time here and the house was just perfectly located in the middle of the historical center, walking to everywhere from the house. The Main Plaza ist just a couple of minutes away. Every Sunday there is a nice big farmers market with yummy Mexican food and all sorts of hand crafted souvenirs to buy. We have seen a lot of great places like Chichen Tza , the beach along Progresso, the flamingos and many others beside swimming in those amazing Cenotes. The house itself, Casa Flora, is super beautiful. A mix of Art Deco and Colonial Style. Very modern but still with old charming features like those old handcrafted tiles that go through the whole house. We showered under the outdoor shower under a huge palm tree - what a treat!!! Really a perfect sanctuary and the sound of the water fountain running added to the oasis-feel. The owner and manager were both extremely supportive and we would come back any time in the future for another stay at Casa Flora. Booking was very easy by the way. We highly recommend this rental to everyone.

Amazing House and GREAT HOST!
My husband and I rented the property for 3 weeks. It is a super charming place. We instantly felt at home. It is right in the Center of Merida, so you walk to dinner and can go sightseeing without a car. Still the house is very quiet and affords a lot of privacy. We especially enjoyed the patio with the outdoor shower and the pool! The host went out of her way to accommodate our wishes. The house is super well maintained and very clean. We highly recommend spacious this gem!

Ups and Downs in Merida...
On the plus side, this house is in a great location. Walking to the centre of Merida was an easy, pleasant walk. Except for the neighbor's dog who barked a lot and actually bit one of us when we were walking by.
The house was quiet. Except for the renovation going on next door. Pounding and hammering. All day. Every day.
The house is quite lovely. Except for the lack of hot water for over a week in the kitchen and bathrooms. The shower heads and faucets were clogged because of the hard water. Water shot all over the bathrooms - inside the shower and out. Easy fixes - but they didn't happen until we complained long enough to get some action.
The kitchen, albeit a little rustic, worked well. The day we arrived we had to purchase a coffee maker, some bowls and a frying pan. And ice cube trays. We were not reimbursed.
We had the housekeeper come in and she cleaned well and was most pleasant. The pool was cleaned and the garden cleared up once during our stay. There was no charge for the gardener/pool service.
Finally, the deposit. We were charged a ton for electricity for 20 days. We live in Canada - one of the coldest and darkest places on the planet in February - and have never experienced a bill quite that high for electricity. We knew there would be a charge - it's in the contract - but felt what we were charged was just a little bit excessive!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Merida - due in no small part to our good natures! The house needs some tender loving care. We paid high season rent - plus more - and didn't receive quite what we were expecting.

New Year's Eve in Merida
My husband and I spent a fabulous week over the new year at Barbara's Villa Flora. The stylish and spotlessly clean villa is very quiet yet within easy walking distance of the best of Merida. With excellent food, very kind and friendly locals, fascinating historical sites (and sights) and such a comfortable place to stay, we had a truly relaxing and interesting time. (there was a slight issue with Wi Fi but Barbara dealt with it immediately and agent Ana was excellent) We definitely recommend this property! Lucie and Tom

Beautiful, tranquil home- in the heart of bustling Merida!
My family and I stayed here for 5 days in early January. From the street the house looks nice, but inside it is like a museum. I really appreciated the owner's attention to design and detail in her restoration of this home. Ana, the house manager, is extremely friendly and helpful, and was available to help us whenever an unexpected situation arose. The pool was bigger than we expected, allowing for a very fun and cooling activity for my two kids in the middle of the day. We loved the nearby Yucatecan market and food stands, and ate there at least once a day. The big attractions (Cathedral, Paseo Montejo's house, multiple museums) were all within a very entertaining 10-15 minute walk from the house, or a very short cab ride. This house was also a perfect home base for visiting the ruins of Uxmal, Progresso, and Celestun. We had the very best trip there, and hope to return very soon!

Great Casa in Merida
Brilliant Casa in a major location with amazing amenities. Tranquil, quiet and well appointed. This lovely vacation rental is all the more reason to visit sunny Merida. The locals are lovely and the culture is wonderful. Barbara was amazing with all of the communication and Ana the manager is a pleasure to deal with. Absolutly fantastic stay

Stylish and central!
My partner and I stayed in this villa for 2 weeks over the holidays and enjoyed every minute of it. Stylishly decorated, outstanding art work, quiet area, wi-fi, modern amenities. This villa was great value for our money.
The house manager was helpful and available whenever we needed.
The owner is reliable, honest and a pleasure to do business with.
The central location is very convenient, close to shops, restaurants, central plaza and markets.
Take a stroll to Santa Ana park for a Sopa de Lima and Rellenos negro at one of the cocina economica.
Enjoy Merida!

Nice place!
It had been nearly 30 years since we visited Merida, We had a wonderful time there and were happy to learn that Merida still remains a very welcoming city that has been wonderfully restored without losing it's true Mexican identity. This lovely home was centrally located (on a very quiet street) to everything that we wanted to do. We found this home very comfortable.

A lovely home in a great locaion
This was our first trip to Merida and we weren't disappointed. The location of this villa is perfect for exploring everything that Merida has to offer. We didn't have a car, but that wasn't a problem. Everything is within walking distance (or a short cab drive away if you don't want to walk). And there are lots of small local restaurants and a couple of cafes nearby.
The villa is spacious and there is a small courtyard garden (including a lime tree) where you can sit at night and watch the stars.
We took the local bus to the coast to visit the seaside towns of Progresso and Chelem. And there are lots of organized tours that you can choose from if you don't want to take local buses or don't have a car. We visited the Mayan site of Uxmal and stayed for the light and sound show at night.
This villa is truly lovely, and Anna the property manager was exceptionally helpful and welcoming. As were all of the folks we met in Merida. People will just stop and chat to you...they are truly genuine and friendly. They take pride in their culture and their city.
This villa is a great home base for your trip to Merida. We hope to come back again soon.

My partner and I stayed a...
My partner and I stayed at this
beautiful home this New Year's eve for a
week. It was a great location to enjoy
Merida and the nearby towns - including
Progresso which is by the shore. Merida
is a large city with a historic center
and a grand boulevard - the house is
near to these and all the other
attractions. We had a car and found
street parking to be no problem. We
didn't drive around in Merida much
because the house is central and we were
able to walk everywhere. We would highly
recommend this well finished and
inviting house to any other guests.

We loved staying in this ...
We loved staying in this restored colonial in the heart of downtown Merida. It is very close to everything and you can walk to the local restaurants, cafes and shops. I would tell people that you do not need a car to be here as you can either walk or rent a car by the day to visit the local attractions such as the Maya ruins or Celestun, the ecological reserve. Also available are very reasonable day tours to all the sites with booking agencies in the central area. I just wished we had several more days to stay in this relaxing home!
