Great location, beautiful views. I cannot stress how lovely the staff were. We had to leave early before breakfast and they were so accommodating, they let us into the kitchen to help ourselves to anything we wanted. The breakfast is sooo much nicer than a continental breakfast, they really go out of their way here. Thank you!

Only minor hiccup was that they took my payment in the kitchen when I saw them, which was fine, but then there was a breakdown in communication and my card was also charged after we checked out. It was all sorted a few days later but was a little stressful in the mean time

There was a great selection of foods for breakfast. Entering the Lemon Tree was a delight. Little cabins named for flowers in a beautiful, tranquil garden.

It would have been nice to meet the owners but the member of staff I did meet was very pleasant. Only real drawback was the proximity to SH1

Incredible location with stunning views of the ocean and the mountains, snow capped for our visit. The best sun rises, and moon rises ever. Within easy walking distance of the town centre, and the railway station/whale watch check in. More importantly just a short stroll to the Slam Club, which is the best meal we have had in NZ. Helpful friendly staff who set up a great continental breakfast choice each day. The property gardens are beautiful too.

Our room could have benefitted from some more subtle lighting.

Our stay in the Pineapple-Lilly Ocean View Room was superb! I image this lodge is at the highest point in Kaikoura and therefore offers stunning views - we were fortunate enough to watch an early morning large pod of dolphins playing in the water from our balcony. Our room was fabulous, large, comfortable and clean with a view to die for. The staff are amazing and the breakfast is exceptional and love that you take it to your room to enjoy. The location is a short walk to the restaurants and main town but remains peaceful and tranquil.

Upgrading from a Garden view to a Sea view was the best £5 I ever spent - wonderful view for breakfast. Wasn't sure about the "get your own breakfast" in the morning, but it was very good. Room was comfortable, and location fine for walking into the town, and for exploring the area generally. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Seagulls a bit of a pain when breakfasting on the balcony - a heads-up about that would have been helpful. The stair to the upper floor was a bit tight for lugging up a 23kg suitcase.

Be careful when booking. I booked because it overlooked the sea. It does but there are 2 separate units with “garden view” not attached to the Lodge that are in the back yard. oh, well….

We received such a warm welcome from the duty manager, Lucia. The location was incredible, close to everything you could need. The hospitality delivered here was 10 out of 10, so accomodating, going above and beyond to provide exceptional service.

garden suite was very noisy as it backed onto a main road bend eased off about 2am but started again at 5am. I’m sure the sea view suites are quieter, but if you are a light sleeper DO NOT choose either of the garden suites. the room needs soundproofing to the rear which would really help.

The views are gorgeous and the breakfast was nice.

The location is great and if you're not staying in a room with a balcony you are allowed the use of the deck which offers stunning views accross the area.

Top of the range price for really average accommodation. The breakfast which was included was particularly poor.
