Lovely gardens, really well kept! Great pool, loved the serenity of the vineyard with olive trees, more orange trees than you can imagine. And super helpful people - personal service in advance, and while we stayed. Lovely place

Everything and everyone! We had the warmest welcome than any of our other stays even on other holidays -and the warmth continued for our two days there -the staff : manager/ owners were so kind and helpful -we had great advice on our restaurants and areas to visit and freedom to wander around the lavish gardens -free to pick oranges -and flowers! Very clean -breakfast was amazing and plentiful -we hated to leave -we will recommend this to all our friends and family and we will be back 🤗
Absolutely nothing!

We loved the Casa. Made to feel so welcome. The room was rustic and charming. The gardens were amazing, beautiful. You could pick fruit directly off the trees. Breakfast was wonderful, typical Portuguese. We sat outside and had fresh bread, croissants, homemade preserves, freshly made tortilla, ham and cheese…. I could go on! We ate around a large table outside in the garden, what a way to start the day! The location is so peaceful, surrounded by grapevine and olive trees. It also has a beautiful pool with sun lounges and hammocks. We met some lovely people and the staff were so helpful. Great location to explore the valley. We will definitely be going back.
More time! Didn’t want to go home.

The property “garden / pool” areas were very relaxing and well maintained.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Thanks to Maria for her assistance.
It would be convenient to have the ability to have a “simple” evening meal at the hotel. It could be offered in the morning as a signup option.
Otherwise, restaurants are close (10 mins) by taxi or car.

The staff was exceptional.. very attentive, genuinely keen to give their guests a good time. . You don't see that often in the western world. Special mention for Maria who stayed in touch even before our trip, gave us superb restaurant reservations and was in general very warm. Also want to mention tge 2 other staff members (Diego and a lady whose name slips my mind) who were very hospitable
The BnB itself was a highlight of our trip.. beautiful gardens with Rose's and fountains,, a swimming pool overlooking vineyards, orange trees .. truly relaxing and memorable
Some suggestions
Hot breakfast that changes slightly over the days would be great
DVD in room or a few board games on premises

Beautiful garden space, pool area and walk around the vineyards. I think what made this property so special was the staff. From the moment the gate opened and we were welcomed by Maria we knew we chose a gem of a place. Maria showed us around and made us feel so welcome immediately! Breakfasts were fantastic with freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, eggs, toast, cereal fruit, yogurt……wonderful !
Anna Marie welcomed us with some lemonade and once again felt so comfortable !!
Marie is a very special person who kindly spends time with you to help plan your day to catch the highlights and restaurants for supper. We spent 3 nights there and saw a lot of the beautiful Douro Valley
Thank you Casa da Azenha….it was a special 3 nights!!

Our accommodation at Casa da Azenha was very spacious and traditional. The location is just outside Regua, so ideally placed for exploring the river Douro. The gardens are beautiful along with the swimming pool area. Breakfast continental style was served outside on a communal table and Maria and her staff were on hand to ensure everything went smoothly with lots of suggestions of things to do and places to eat. All in all its a superb heritage bed and breakfast location with lots of old family history. The staff really want you to enjoy your time staying there.

This is a ‘home-stay’ type premises with meals served in the family house. The family and staff were warm, welcoming and eager to help throughout and were ever-ready with ideas for restaurants and attractions in the surrounding area. We were free to roam in the family gardens and their vineyards, which have good views across the surrounding countryside. I'm giving this premises a rating of '10' because of the above. Don't expect 5 star luxury - do expect to be well catered for in a traditional Portuguese house, in a peaceful rural environment (only 10 minutes drive to the nearest small town).

Quiet surroundings. Ability to stroll in the vineyards from the courtyard. The booking at a local, intimate restaurant. The friendliness and help of the staff. The good value and quality of the wine on offer. The breakfast. Maria and Becas took very good care of us.
Clearer instructions on the location. Our SatNav was confused and we missed some turns.
A requested dinner reservation took us to a very good but very pricey and glitzy restaurant (Doc) when we would have preferred a more low-key local spot.

Lovely and very helpful staff.
A little more remote than we expected.

Fabulous support from Duty Manageress, help with many excellent restaurants bookings, touring tips, shopping advice, etc, etc.
Slightly more variety for breakfast, I.e. cut up mixed fresh fruit, "Muesli" cereal with mixed fruit, boiled eggs...

One of the most beautiful places we have been in. We stayed in the suite with a separate entrance, very nice and comfortable. the gardens are very nice, view is stunning, and overall feeling is quiet and calming. staff wad very nice and helpful, attended to all our requests with a smile. breakfast was ok, with home made cake made by the owner.
adding some fresh vegetables and some eggs can enlarge the variety of breakfast. we did not use the pool since weather did not allow, but it looks very nice.

Our family of 4 (parents + 2 young boys) had the best time here and we never want to leave! Becas was a wonderful host and welcomed our family with open arms. The grounds are beautifully maintained and so cozey and magical. You truly feel like you are being transported away and into a farm-stay. There's a variety of fruit trees (to pick if you like) and animals that the kids loved. It was a hot day when we arrived and cooling off in the pool was just what we needed. We loved the delicious lemonade that Becas made for us and the coffee was actually one of the best I've had in Portugal! Communal breakfast was a nice change as well and gave us a chance to connect with other guests. The groundskeeper and housekeeping folks were also very friendly and helpful! Even leading up to the trip, they tried their best to answer our many questions about the accommodations (since we were traveling with kids). Thank you so much to Becas and team for a wonderful stay and the wonderful memories!
nothing to dislike. just be prepared and courteous for the single lane road leading to the property and the authentic rustic vibes!

Our stay at Casa da Azenha was quite memorable thanks to the welcoming and helpful staff and the bucolic landscape. The historic manor house, vineyards, and gardens were beautiful and close to many things to do. This property stands out among all the places we have stayed in Portugal and captures the essence of the Douro Valley.
What's not to like? The property and staff were lovely!

This is a piece of paradise, it's absolutely beautiful and the hosts are extremely helpful. A joy to stay here. It was also a great location for visiting the nearby vineyards and Pinhao. The pool area is gorgeous, we spent ever afternoon here surrounded by birds and butterflies!
Nothing, it was just lovely all round

The grounds, room, and staff are absolutely wonderful! Maria and other staff were so helpful to us with booking restaurants, port tours, and making suggestions for how to get the most out of our two day stay in the Douro Valley. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I look forward to coming back one day. The daily breakfast spread was great and their pool was so relaxing. My friend had the best time strolling the beautiful property. 100% recommend!

Breakfast was not of the quality pictured. Good orange juice.
Received a call prior to arrival trying to sell us bookings for restaurants and events. First thing we were shown when we arrived was a list of restaurants, all except a couple $$$ were $$$$. Tried to sell us boat bookings although the weather was extremely windy and a partially rainy day. Hardly anybody on the boats. When we tried to get info on the area they didn't have time and referred us to the above lists. Road to Casa narrows down to one lane and is outside of town. Outstanding pictures of property and breakfast.. Getting ready to do the review I had to double check to make sure it was the same property we stayed in. The wicker furniture needed replacing, garden needed cleanup, pool looks great in the pictures. They never had time to talk about the area although there were only a couple of other guests.

Lovely gardens, spacious suite with vintage decor, and tasty breakfast. The kids loved seeing the chickens and ducks and playing hide and seek in the gardens. Most importantly, the staff was amazing. In an unpleasant turn of events, we tested positive for COVID, but Maria offered to do shopping for us, delivered our breakfast to us, and even called to check up on us after we left.

It's the best Casa we stayed in. The owner and the staff are marvelous. You instantly feel like in your own family. It is worth listening to the history of the building and the family. Buautiful garden with a swimming pool. Very good porto produced by the family. If you go to spend few nights in the Douro valley, I highly advise to stay in Casa de Azenha. You will have good sleep, good breakfast, tips for sightseeing and a lot of nice stories to listen to.
We like everything

Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Love the orange trees and being able to hike around.

We enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Casa de Azenha a lot. The grounds themselves are beautiful, as the manor sits amidst its own vineyards and orchards. Fig and pear jam made on the premises were always part of our breakfast, as well as locally-made honey and apple jelly.
The owner, Ana Maria, and her staff welcomed us with open arms. Right away, they made reservations for a 2-hour cruise on the Douro the next day. They were always ready to help, and gave us very useful information and advice about places we were going to visit. The Casa is very well situated, a 5-minute ride from Peso da Regua with its restaurants and its magnificent Douro museum.

We enjoyed the quiet and beautiful location, the hotel and grounds were very relaxing. The staff we are very helpful and full of suggestions for eating and places to visit. The recommended guide ( Paulo) was well worth the day with, we are now experts in the Douro. We would be happy to stay again and would recommend the place.

Peaceful location. Very Friendly and helpful staff with recommendations of things to do in the area. Nice breakfast provided each morning with lots of variety
No refreshments available on site unless in a suite Booking.com stated a bar / snack bar. These were not available in the room. We had to drive out to the nearest town to pick up drinks / snacks

We had the most wonderful stay at Casa da Azenha! We were welcomed by the fabulous Maria, she went above and beyond to ensure that we had an amazing stay. The breakfast was generous and the rooms were a great size and extremely clean. The beautiful gardens and surrounding areas were brilliant for walking! While the Casa does not provide evening meals, there are plenty of great restaurants a short drive away. The biggest highlight of our stay was Maria, she was extremely helpful, she made reservations for us at restaurants as we did not speak the language and she organised the most incredible tour of the Douro valley with Paolo. It is an absolute must if you are a wine lover, Paolo knowledge was incredible. The stay was unforgettable!
Everything was wonderful!
