We just returned from a week in Port Clyde with our family - 6 adults, 1 child, and our Goldendoodle. What a wonderful and memorable experience!
The house is like walking into an LL Bean catalogue. The highlight is the kitchen— a chef’s dream! Two dishwashers, high end appliances, an abundance of gadgets, table settings for a large party, a separate area with a coffee maker, and wine fridge. Since we had this amazing kitchen, we cooked several meals at home vs going out to dinner.
There are four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Bathrooms were spacious. One bathroom had even a chair for sitting to get ready and a mirror. Towels are provided and there were plenty. Having a washer and dryer was also a big help and we didn’t have to worry about returning home with tons of laundry.
Beds were comfortable and it was so quiet at night, so we all slept peacefully. I loved being able to open the skylight at night and let in some of the ocean air. Each bedroom also has a portable stand up fan which helps on those warm nights.
There are games like cards, scrabble, and corn hole. We played the cornhole outside and spent time on the deck. There’s also a 60 inch tv in a living room area.
The grill could have been a little cleaner, but we cleaned it pretty well and should be better now.
We got the fire pit going, but mosquitoes were thirsty, so we didn’t spend much time there. We did spend time on the deck looking at the night sky, watching for shooting stars.
Would love to return!!!

The rental was just as advertised. The view of the ocean and the beautiful houses on the nearby island is quintessential Maine. Well appointed for the cook in the family and 4 beadrooms to accommodate our family of 4 plus 2 extended family memebers. A patio, nice sized yard, and a firepit were a wonderful extra for this house rental. We would definitely stay again in the future.

Beautiful house on the ocean, peaceful and relaxing just what you want on a vacation.
Walk to the lighthouse, beach, restaurants and Mohegan Cruises and General Store.
Veronika our host was wonderful.

It was a great, quiet, peaceful stay. I did not want to leave!

We had a fantastic week! The property was exactly as described in the VRBO listing and the location made for great walks to Marshall Point Lighthouse, Drift Inn Beach, and Monhegan Island boat launch and kayak launch from Drift Inn Beach. Veronika, the host, was VERY responsive to all queries. Would rent again without hesitation!

this unit is all about the amazing kitchen. True. But also wonderful bedrooms, beds, den and family room.
Not to mention the beautiful Maine scenery.
First Class!

Wonderful property with an amazing kitchen - inspired us to do a lot more cooking at home! The house was incredibly clean when we arrived. Beds were comfortable. My daughters loved walking to Squid Ink in the morning for coffee or the Port Clyde General Store for breakfast. We also loved the sauna! The only downsides from my perspective is that I wish they had more/better sofas for the evenings (we all ended up in the kitchen at night instead) and direct water access would have been fantastic (though it’s easy enough to launch kayaks in Port Clyde or drive/walk to Drift Inn to swim). That being said, it’s a great choice and definitely one of the better rentals we have had in the area.

Fantastic property. EXTREMELY communicative host. Outstanding kitchen. Furniture a bit outdated. Dispute upon check-out related to sheets. Overall a nice stay.

We had a great time staying here with three generations from 18 to 80. The kitchen is incredible, big enough that the two family chefs could work in it together without getting cranky! Port Clyde was an easy walk away, lots of places to walk the dog, get in water. Next time we’ll rent kayaks for the week.

Great location for a quiet getaway.
The home is spotless and very well equipped. This more than satisfied my wife's main requirements re cleanliness and quality linens etc.
Host was very responsive and helpful.
We were a family of 4 and there was plenty of room for everyone to be together and/or to have space to themselves.
Very minor suggestions (not complaints). For us, the lobster tank was unnecessary and the sound was constant . For others this could be a great feature however. The kitchen is huge and would be great for large gatherings. It was almost too much for us. It was nice having so much work space in the kitchen.
We would definitely recommend the property especially for larger groups or anyone planning to do a lot of entertaining.

It is our 7th consecutive year renting here and that should describe our fondness with the property and its management. Veronika Carlson is quick to address any concerns and the property is immaculate.

Excellent property
This house has the most amazing view and location. We walked to downtown Port Clyde and enjoyed every minute. Kitchen is stocked with a super nice blender, a fancy mixer, most anything you need!

It’s a chefs dream
Ironic that a house which sleeps 8, if you have 3 couples and two singles, can feed 25 but that’s what you get here. Short walk to charming Port Clyde waterfront with some nice eateries and galleries. House does have a lobster live well which worked nicely but sweat profusely on the counter. Freezer is quirkily in the garage but you could fit half a cow in it. Manager was super responsive to the one maintenance item we had there.

Thanksgiving 2021
I have stayed at this home several times now and it doesn't disappoint ever!! Extremely well stocked kitchen - just need to bring spices. Beds are very comfortable. Cellular service not great but if you are trying to get away from it all, then who cares!
Will definitely rent here again.

Another great time
Wonderful property and accommodations and you never get tired of the view. Our 5th time.

Pros: beautiful, clean house with plenty of space, enough dish- and glassware to feed dozens of people, games and puzzles, high end appliances, fairly convenient to Thomaston and Rockland. General store is cute and surprisingly well-stocked. Easy walk into the village, a couple of restaurants, and the ferry to Monhegan Island. Showers have great water pressure, beds are comfortable. Black-out shades on the windows. Tower fans keep bedrooms cool at night. Property manager very responsive- we called her at least 3 times!
Cons: there is no king-size bed, even though the listing says there is. This is usually a deal-breaker for us. Husband and I slept in the twin beds, and a twin is really too small for him. One of my sons went to camp on the second day, so my husband moved to his queen bedroom. We had planned to bring our combined four dogs, but decided not to due to proximity to road and lack of a fenced area. There really is no way to let a dog off-leash- the yard is too small. The road is not busy, as the street dead ends at two private drives, but most nights there were noisy teenagers walking by. The ovens take a long time to pre-heat. The brand new microwave stopped working on our second-to-last day. Cookware is old, cheap, and there isn't enough. We started cooking a casserole only to discover there were no baking dishes. Not one. We called the property manager and were brought a very tiny ceramic one that did not at all suffice. Luckily one of the large pans is oven-safe, so we cooked our dinner in that. Other than salt and pepper, olive and vegetable oil, and some very old-looking apple cider vinegar, there are NO staples, so bring your own. The freezer is in the garage. Not a big deal for us, but might bother some. So much water condenses on the outside of the lobster tank that it forms a large puddle on the counter that we were constantly mopping up. You could see where the floor is stained when it is left alone. Not a single book in the house. That is weird. I always like to see what books there are, and usually read one or two while I am there. Only one of the garage door buttons worked, and access was tricky if two cars were in the garage. No walking trails nearby that we could find. You really have to go outside to get cell service, and the wifi was very temperamental and slow. My husband had planned to have some online meetings, but had to cancel because the wifi was too unreliable.
We will not return.

We had a good time in Maine. Property location was good. One issue was there there was a strong smell/odor in kitchen and outside. Also checkout process was very strict and we spent the last evening cleaning, doing the dishes, putting them back and early morning to put all the towels and sheets in wash. All this after paying cleaning fees and premium rates was a bit too much.

The location of the house was perfect, walkable to a small quaint town and to the lighthouse. Our family had a great visit to Port Clyde and would definitely return! Our only difficulty was with the chef's kitchen since the microwave and one of the ovens were not working during part our visit. With a family meal having some of the appliances not working was a little inconvenient. On the flip side Veronica and the maintenance staff were great and super responsive. They were not able to fix the appliances, but I would not hold them responsible in that regard.

Everything was as promised: spacious layout, top of the line kitchen equipment, comfortable beds with cozy linens. We love to cook and the two dishwashers in the kitchen made clean up a snap. We did come slightly before the season, until Memorial Day, many restaurants, local coffee shops, and boat tours are not open at all or open fully, so cooking at "home" in a well appointed kitchen was particularly appreciated. Horse Point Road is quiet with friendly resident and tourist walkers, stopping briefly to share restaurant and seafood outlet recommendations and places of interest not to miss. Our 24 and 20 year old STEM savvy daughters' favorite part: the old-timey LL Bean board games provided by our host, a welcome respite from personal devices and streaming whatever. Both my husband and I had to conduct business meetings via teleconference during the day and internet connectivity was satisfactory throughout the day. Veronica was extremely responsive to our questions, and very quickly handled a couple of minor issues we encountered. Hope to be back with the fam and their guests again next year.

Great house
What a comfortable amazing place! We loved the kitchen, which is fantastic. We enjoyed hanging out together watching the water. Unfortunately, a lot of local areas are closed now, but we enjoyed spending time in the house together away from our home. We have been cautious about where we go during the pandemic, but this place was so clean, we felt very comfortable.

Best Home for Thanksgiving!!
We stayed at this home prior but it still amazes!! If you are going to cook a large meal, this is the home to do it in. Everything you could ever need to cook a meal is in the house with extra plates and silverware. 20 minutes off route 1 but views are fantastic right out the front windows. Well appointed home with comfortable beds and bedding. We will definitely be back!!

Loved Port Clyde & Kitchen
Cooks Cove came just as advertised - great location, great kitchen, comfortable house. The kitchen was outstanding, and we loved cooking and baking there. We took full advantage of the lobster tank, the indoor grill and the griddle. The kitchen and the house were incredibly well equipped, and we found everything we needed. The beds and bedrooms were very comfortable (loved the Bean flannel sheets in colder spring nights). Port Clyde was a wonderful place to be. We took many walks to the lighthouse and the Drift Inn Beach, and we biked all over the penninsula. The location was close enough to run into Rockland, but we were always happy to be back at the house. Thanks also to Veronica who was always helpful and responsive.

2019 Family Christmas
Our family of six loved the house. We enjoyed the open kitchen and bar area where family could spread out and catch up. Christmas Eve and Christmas morning were filled with everlasting memories.... on a side note, my wife and I got away to eat at the general store down the street...wonderful food and hospitality...

Thanksgiving Retreat
This property is exceptional. We had thanksgiving at the property and the kitchen was unbelievable!! Everything you could ever need. Location is a bit off of route 1 but we have stayed in this area before. Don’t miss local fare at the Black Harpoon!! Views out the front of the home are quintessential Maine with lots of windows. Beds were great! Couldn’t say enough about this property. My guests loved it!!

Great time. Weather this tear much better than last year
Great location, terrific views and first class amenities. Se you next summer!

Amazing house! Perfect for families or groups.
The house was everything the listing promised and more. The location was a quiet road that was a 5 min walk to town and a short bike ride to the lighthouse or beach. The views from every window were breathtaking. All the rooms were beautifully appointed with very comfortable--but also unique and style-appropriate "antique" type choices. Rest was guaranteed in beds that were highest quality from the expensive mattresses to the wonderful LL Bean linens.
The bathrooms were clean and modern and had every bit of space needed for our large family, with new fixtures including super cool and fun LED color-changing shower heads that made every shower also a fun experience!
The kitchen was absolutely amazing. There were plates and utensils for every kind of food/meal and with 2 stove tops, a huge oven, a large convection microwave an ice maker, a wine cooler, a massive Viking fridge, and so many comfortable seats for everyone that we could make meals all day long and never get in each other's way!
Overall, just a terrific stay including easy communication & management who made sure all was perfect from start to finish.

paradise
this was our second year renting from Linda Bean, and it was great. For city-folk, Port Clyde is a much needed rest for our annual family get-together, and Bean's services and rentals only compliment the beauty of Port Clyde. This year we needed a larger space to accommodate the entire family and "Cook's Cove" was the choice. The rental properties provide you with anything and everything you could need for a comfortable stay. I enjoy cooking and the kitchen was to die for. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the ocean and the daily routine of the lobster boats. We had a beautiful yard for the kids to enjoy and spent plenty of time trying to find the bald eagle that would pass through. Properties are impeccably maintained which I appreciate. I've come to trust "Linda Bean's Rentals" and she is my go to vacation manager ! Our vacation flew by - can't wait for next year !

When I reserved this house, I did not realize that "Linda Bean's Perfect Maine Vacation Rentals" had any connection with the LL Bean Company. It was only after arriving at the house and seeing all the LL Bean furnishings (as well as the LL Bean editions of Scrabble, Monopoly and chess) did my family and I figure out that Linda Bean was part owner of LL Bean Inc. The house is lovely. The bedrooms and bathrooms are well appointed. The kitchen is a joy to cook in. The appliances are top notch. The lobster tank was very handy, but be aware that lobsters are nocturnal creatures. My college-aged daughter awoke in the middle of the night and upon hearing odd noises downstairs thought that someone had broken into the house. It turns out that the noises were coming from the lobsters quietly banging around in the tank. We had minor issues with a leaky toilet which wasn't bothersome, but the manager was notified, and hopefully this issue has been fixed. We wanted to use the sauna, but the timer button was broken.
The Monhegan Boat Line and the Port Clyde General Store are only a 7 to 10 minute walk from the house. We went on the Puffin/Nature cruise (early August 2018). The cruise was fun in that the first part of the cruise included hauling up 4-5 lobster traps to show us how lobsters are caught. We were able to see harbor seals, porpoises, osprey and eagles, but only 1 or 2 puffins. I am told that puffins are more plentiful in July. If you go on this cruise, I would recommend bringing binoculars.
I would highly recommend making the 2 1/2 hour drive up to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The Park was crowded in some areas, but after a short hike from Sand Beach, my family and I easily found a more secluded and incredibly scenic part of the Park on the shoreline. Also, my family and I couldn't help but make the 1 1/2 drive to Freeport to shop at LL Bean flagship store. In addition to LL Bean, there are a number of other outlet stores.
Overall, my family and I enjoyed staying in this house and would recommend it.

A wonderful get together!
We rented Cooks Cove and the adjacent Sea Sparkle. Five couples and 6 grandchildren who frolicked like yesteryear. Free range fun for the children. I especially enjoyed cooking breakfast for all those people sitting across the counter from that enormous kitchen. Like a short order cook. The kitchen is better equipped than my home.
The house is immaculate with beautiful appointments and amenities. Eighteen chairs in that huge kitchen..just enough for all of us. The property manager, Veronika, was extremely efficient in supplying things we needed.
Will be back next summer before those kids become teenagers and cannot be separated from their hometown friends.

Wonderful stay in the bucolic town of Port Clyde.
House was luxurious, well appointed, and well stocked. The location is perfect for enjoying Port Clyde, close to the ferry to Monhegan Island, and a short drive to museums, etc. in Rockland. Also, enjoyed watching the sunset at the Marshall Point Lighthouse. I would highly recommend this home as your base for enjoying this amazing area. Don't forget to check out the Dip Net restaurant, the Port Clyde General Store. A special treat is the Linda Bean Maine Wyeth Art Gallery and the Wyeths by Water tour.
