Beautiful little guesthouse in the middle of Tunis Medina. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast and Achmed the host was very friendly and hospitable, and even helped us book a table at a fantastic restaurant nearby. The location is perfect - meters away from the hustle bustle of the Medina.

The position is in the center of the medina, walking distance from all the interesting point, the guest house it is exactely as a traditional old tunisian house, with the patio and the forniture...exactly the same..made me travel back in a fantastic way... the matrass are great but there is a bit of humidity due to the walls of the medina, but the heater is working great, and everything was clean. The breakfast it is amazing, with everything
Ahmed it is very helpful and gentle and it gives lots of information.
I will definately go back there if I go back to Tunis

Perfect place for an easy, cozy stay with nice breakfast.
Having 3 rooms only make it a family feeling.
Kind people caring.

Personnel accueillant. Propre.

This little riad is just magical - stunningly beautiful and cozy, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the room was precious. I was awed by the beauty and comfort. The A/C worked great, which was crucial in +47C (110F( heat). The staff was very accommodating and plain sweet.

Beautiful place, very kind staff.
The ladies who make breakfast were very nice and helpful, so was the manager.
The access to the Hotel is difficult, especially at night due to its location in the Medina.
2.0 / 5.0
The hosts were both very friendly and accommodating. Great personalities.
The location is right in the middle of the old town, great if you like such atmosphere- with narrow pedestrian roads (no car access) and traditional amenities.
The hotel only has 3 rooms, so it's a very, very quiet atmosphere...
Rooms are very traditional too.
But I was surprised that most reviews I saw did not warn about the issues I point out here below;
Despite the friendly staff, I personally won't go back due to these reasons;
The room did not feel clean at all - and the carpet was very dirty and worn off. I even felt uncomfortable using my slippers, its best to walk with shoes in your room - which I don't like doing.
The breakfast is not a buffet - it's a set breakfast made by the friendly hostess, very basic, including eggs, some bread, and minor things with it.
It is NOT a buffet, and with only 3 rooms in the whole hotel - it's a very dead and often awkward atmosphere when you're having breakfast with just 1 or 2 people from one of the other rooms, in the quiet lobby area.
Also, you have to tell them what time you want to have your breakfast - which is not convenient to plan the night before.
When you come back to the hotel, you have to ring the bell - for him to open the door for you. So again, this is uncomfortable when you come back late and you have to wake him up to open the door for you.
Also, it was very inconvenient to reach the hotel with my bags - most drivers will NOT know how to take the cars inside those narrow roads to reach the hotel, and roads are mostly closed in that area to get inside. So if you have larger bags - its a workout and quite a tough walk to get there.
Its a very friendly staff - but all of the above makes me uncomfortable to use that hotel again.

With its traditional structure that seems to have been traced back in history, with high-quality antiques, furniture, and abundant plants, this carefully decorated house allows you to quietly savor Tunis' old culture. There are attractions and a large traditional market nearby, so you can explore it every evening for fun. The people in the vicinity are also very friendly to foreigners. Breakfast is carefully prepared so you can eat your fill, and you can climb up the secret ladder to watch the sunset from the rooftop. The manager does his best to provide travel information and is kind and friendly especially to those who travel alone, so they are comfortable and not bored.

The position is perfect, near the main streets of the medina but not too noisy. The staff was really kind.
The room was not very clean, especially the bathroom…

This hotel is a charming three bedroom bed and breakfast in the heart of the medina. The rooms are lovingly adorned and the property is very clean. Breakfast was simple but nice, served in the covered courtyard downstairs. Note that this is really a guesthouse, not a full hotel--there is not really a proper front desk and the street outside the hotel is too narrow for cars to reach directly, you'll need to walk from the entrance of the medina.
The hotel staff are only available to answer the door during check-in hours (2-7) unless you arrange in advance. I arrived from the airport, sweaty in the midday heat, and without a phone that works in Tunisia and didn't realize this. While I resolved the situation by having a mint tea and a sandwich at a cafe around the corner until the hotel opened, this is important to know. Additionally, although the medina feels very safe, to reach restaurants or anywhere requires walking to the main roads as taxis cannot reach the narrow street the hotel is located on----keep this in mind if you have a lot of luggage or are a woman travelling alone, as there are some logistics involved.

We were staying in this old and very traditionally decorated house. The decorator paid attention to the tiniest details to create this real beauty! The owner selected such stuff to give it warm, Arabic, welcoming soul!
Ahmed, thank you very much to you and the lady in the kitchen that made our stay so pleasant.

We had an amazing stay at El Patio. Ahmed, Basma and her sister were extremely kind, helpful and contributed to make our vacation in Tunisia exceptional. Ahmed in particular gave us a lot of tips to help us discover hidden places in the Medina and we really appreciated having him around. The place is cozy and has a nice familiar vibe. Highly recommended!

The hosts were lovely. Arranged the taxi and greeted us at the entrance to the medina to walk us to the hotel. Fabulous breakfasts. The rooms had all mod cons, but also felt like old Tunisia. Couldn't have asked for a better welcome to Tunis.
I would just warn guests that the area is very quiet at night. Not the neighbourhood if you're looking for night life. It's a short walk to find a taxi, they're cheap and can take you into the centre of town quickly. You're in the medina, so expect people to try to sell you things during the day when the market is running.

The hotel was stunning, very traditional. A lot of thought had been put into the furnishing and decor.
The breakfast was appalling, cold weak coffee and over cooked cold omlet. Did not take breakfast on second day.

This place exceeded by far our expectations. From the moment we stepped in, we felt like we went back in time. This boutique hotel is decorated with very very good taste, with antiques and lovely traditional items. The place is quiet, even though it is located in the medina, very close to the big mosque. The room, although not very large, was decorated in the same manner, creating a sense of peacefulness. We were welcomed by Ahmed, who was very friendly and helpful. When we return to Tunis, we will definitely stay in El Patio!

Mr. Ahmet and the so kind lady who prepares the breakfast were AMAZING people that do not stop smiling (Literraly), it felt like a little family and it changes so much from the traditional hotel staff. Staying at El patio was an incredible experience, it's in the heart of the old touristic city, very harming. I was there with my wife, and we both appreciated the stay there. For all visitors of Tunisia, I recommend it 100%, I'm returning whenever I can again.

This is a gem of a place, beautifully and tastefully decorated with lovely plants and great ambiance. Very easy to get to cafes and restaurants and the other fabulous things to see in the Medina. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay. Bed was exceedingly comfortable and room was beautifully decorated. Shower excellent and room had a radiator which was needed for the evenings.
The icing on the cake was Ahmed, who was there to greet us and explain everything when we arrived and very kindly walked us to a restaurant one night which we wouldn't have found on our own. He was very helpful, very kind, friendly and just a really good host.
WiFi was a little weak in the bedroom but fine downstairs.

Besides the beautiful interior design of this Dar, the hospitality was easily some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Ahmed was extremely kind and useful. Even during one of the days during my stay where I missed the complementary breakfast to explore, he messaged me to ensure that I was okay. Next time in Tunis, I know where I am going to stay.
No dislikes, this place was great.

Great location and great staff.
Felt really welcome which was mostly thanks to Ahmed who gave great recommentations and was in general very nice to talk to get to know and talk to.
Some solution to get inside through the main door of the guesthouse indepentently would be nice. There was always someone there to let me in, so no problem all in all, just for my own feeling of independency.

The Property was in excellent location to explore the Medina of Tunis
Our stay was made exceptional by Mr Ahmed who was the reception , he went out of his way to make sure our stay was excellent, he walked with us to show where the restaurants were, made sure all of our needs were met during the breakfast and then on the last day hailed a cab for us so Mr Ahmed made a very good stay into an excellent stay for us
