Owners couldn’t be more accommodating

Hosts live next door. They are very friendly and will help if you forgot anything or something is missing…which there wasn’t. The place is really fully furnished. A dish rag and food is about all you need to bring.

We really enjoyed the cabin and the hosts were very friendly. Clean and adequately equipped cabin.

Great place to stay

This little cottage was fine for my needs, very close to the boat launch, appliances worked well, tv is over the air only but the reception is fine. My only disappointment was the tiny shower, I’m a big guy so a 30 inch+/- shower is a tight squeeze.

Don and Shirley made our stay so smooth and easy! Coming from out of town my sister in law and I stayed at the cabin with our infants while our husbands camped close by with my older children, so we just needed a place to stay at night! It was absolutely perfect! Close to where we needed to be, super clean and cute! Would definitely go back!

This place is just what we needed for fishing opener. Very friendly owners that were there for anything that we needed. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Highly recommended if your looking for a little fishing get away. 5 blocks from the access and easy drive thru driveway for the boat. We will definitely be going back here again.

My wife and I had a great stay in Federal Dam. Shirley communicated immediately if I had any questions. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Shirley and Don are generous, friendly, and informative. We felt like we were part of their family and will definitely stay with them again.

This cabin was clean but entirely to "busy". Too much stuff ie: pillows, chairs. utensils, bath supplies etc. Very kind and helpful owners live next door. Very close to fishing but not much privacy.

I had a great stay in Federal Dam! Shirley was great with communicating prior to my stay & her husband Don was very hospitable with giving the rundown of the cabin, gave very great recommendations for fishing, was very kind & accessible the entire stay. The cabin is very close to fishing & boat rentals available. Had to travel a bit for some hiking but it was extremely worth it! Will definitely be staying with them again! Jessica A

Top marks to Don and Shirley—Super friendly, helpful, considerate, and informative. The cabin was a great base for our day trips, and was easy access to the recreation area at the dam for a walk in the woods or fishing.

The place is right in the middle of a wide variety of fishing lakes. It is clean - nothing fancy but when it rained all day it was nice to get out of the rain. The owner was pleasant. I would stay again.

We live in the southern suburbs of MPLS, and had to bring our Scamp Camper for repairs on a 3 hour drive to Backus, MN. Instead of driving back & forth from the cities, we decided to make a weeklong vacation out of it and found this cabin on VRBO! The cabin is clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed! Unlike staying at a hotel or resort, we like cooking over an outdoor fire and they have a fire pit with tripod grill, when it rained we made use of the appliances in the kitchen too. This was perfect for the two of us, and there are a lot of things that make it a great getaway for families! The hosts are very friendly, they know the area, and made sure we had everything we needed! There’s a nice recreation park near the Dam with trails and outdoor activities. It’s close to all the tourist towns, and just far enough away that you’re not in the middle of them either! We had a great time!

It is a great location for a weekend or week long getaway.

My daughter and my three granddaughters had a great time! They love all the good old movies they got to watch, a lot of games were supplied for us..plus we had a awesome bonfire every eve and a chance to grill out! I will definitely return to this cabin!
