Everything that you expect from a good 3 star hotel. Very helpful reception staff, very good breakfast, excellent location for ferry departures.

The cleanliness, the amenities, the location, excellent breakfast, the hospitality of the staff. We got upgraded to a room with a balcony and a view to the port which was terrific 😀

The room that I stayed at was brand new. The amenities met all my needs and the staff was very helpful.

The Aegli is a comfortable and stylish hotel, situated on the front facing the passenger port and the sea. It offers pleasant designer rooms with minimal furnishing, good lighting, and easily controlled heating and ventilation. Excellent and plentiful breakfast and, unusually for hotels, good coffee (Douwe Egbert)

Minimalism comes at a cost: there was limited ordered storage space for clothes (no drawers at all) and no shelf or dressing gown hook in the otherwise excellent shower room. No bar! Alcohol was visible at breakfast but I could not get a beer in the evening.

Location

The property when we arrived was a construction site, the entire exterior was covered with scaffolds and net. The lobby was a construction site. The construction works were not separated, you could see the workers and the works ongoing next to the breakfast area. Very purely managed and disappointing. Usually in other hotels works are separated so guests cannot see. Not here. There was no lobby or reception. Breakfast was okayish. Rooms were okayish too but nothing great, no kettle, no coffee machine, nothing just the bare minimum. A few free soda's in the minibar. Room was quiet. I booked 2 rooms and requested them to be close by, but I was given 2 rooms on different floors... Elevator was tiny and could not fit a family of 4. There was a smell of humidity in the corridors. Staff told us that they informed all guests about the ongoing work, they did not contact me. Value for money was absurd.

Great location

Building work going on during the day, very noisy at times with jackhammer etc ripping up the ground floor reception and breakfast room. If I'd known I would have made my trip a different time as was staying several days. Disappointing as have stayed several times over the years. They did say it should be complete before Christmas....but check!

The location, close to the ferries. The room and its soft bed. The breakfast selection and the helpfulness of the staff

Needs to offer an earlier start time for breakfast even if it's slightly reduced in its offering. Hardly any time to enjoy the buffet if catching a ferry or hydrofoil and need to buy a ticket too. Not the hotel's problem i know but it would be a nice gesture all the same.

Fabulous hotel really friendly attentive helpful staff, spotless modern rooms, delicious breakfast in the best location for the ferry close to lots of bars and restaurants so pleased we chose to stay here.
