Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff! We requested for airport pick up and drop off - thanks a lot to Mr. Youssef for the service. We also received great recommendations for traditional dining within the medina - this was important, especially we stayed during Christmas holiday.

Wifi didn't reach our room (not a major concern, since it's easy to connect in the common areas) If guests wish to use the fridge, they must label their bags properly. We lost some of the food we placed in the fridge. One of the guests may have thought it's food available for anyone.

- It's a beautiful traditional house in a nice area in the Medina of Tunis. I always felt very safe walking at night back to the hostel. - Very friendly staff. All people were very nice. - Nice breakfast.

- Wifi is terrible... almost non-existing. Forget about it during your stay there. - Water in the shower was sometimes warm, sometimes hot, sometimes cold... but it was fine. It can just be an issue during the cold months.

Very good place if you want to stay inside the medina. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place it's a very well preserved authentic medina house.

Despite booking months beforehand the hotel was full on the first day I arrived. However the staff went above and beyond to look after me. They arranged for me to stay at another hotel, paid for my taxi and then picked me up the next morning and brought me to Dar Ya for the rest my dates.

Private rooms can be slightly loud as breakfast is also served on the ground floor, in the patio, where rooms are located.

The hotel is right in the Medina with traditional architecture. The staff, especially Jousef, are very helpful, friendly and at the same time professional. The breakfast is a full breakfast, not just coffee and bread. Also eggs and fruits. And it's super clean and tidy.

Really beautiful old house in the centre of medina (although not easy to find for the first time). Kind terrace on the roof. Staff is really nice and helpful.

When we came to the hostel it appeared no towels were available... can you imagine? After all-day journey at almost 40 degrees outside you can't even wash yourself. We booked double room and got dormitory with 3 bunk beds, thanks god for private use. And a single fan wasn't efficient for such big room - really hot at night. Wi-Fi connection was very unstable and more often it didn't work than it did. Breakfast poor as in similar places - eggs, toast, cake, jam. Not the best value for money.

Cozy, authentic architecture, that gives you a perfect base for experiencing the culture of Tunisia. The rooftop is perfect for silent evenings, while overlooking the whole Medina. The staff is always friendly and try their best to help you out. We had our reservations about the shared toilets, but they are plenty and always clean. Overall a place to recommend.

The rooms had very little privacy due to the windows directly to the breakfast area in the middle of the house. Additionaly, there's no window to the outside, wich leaves with either inviting the whole house to watch you sleeping, or waking up with air thick enough to cut through.

The location and quiet neighborhood. Excellent breakfast. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Great ambiance. No view from the room, but the rooftop terrace made up for that.

The price (30euros) for a room squeezed between the corridor and the reading room which gets hot in summer is a bit over the top. Besides other guests can see through the lattice windows so that privacy isn't garanteed. Careful when coming back to the hostel through the medina in the late afternoon. The shops start closing before 18.00 and all are closed before sunset. I didn't expect that. You may then find yourself finding your way through a maze of dark deserted alleys. Having experienced it, I could feel this wasn't really safe and it was confirmed to me by locals. Also the issue is that dining options close to the hostel are very limited if you do not wish to walk through those streets. Only the Sidi Ben Arous street has a bit of activity in the evening (in summer) till 22.00. So in a word, a cool location in daytime, not in the evening.

The hosts were welcoming and made you feel like family. When I ran into some trouble they went above and beyond to help me. Good breakfast, great location and beautiful courtyard. Would always come back!
