My husband and I needed a quiet relaxing vacation and this property fit the bill perfectly!!! The “Retreat” is a beautiful property that is nestled among the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. As soon as my husband walked in he said this is definitely a place we will be reserving again !! Very tastefully furnished and lots of gorgeous views also some squirrels and hummingbirds joined us as we set on the screened porch .Thanks to the owners for sharing their “mountain Retreat” with us.

The cabin was exactly as advertised. It was spotless and very comfortable. We were there on the winter solstice, and we had gorgeous sunrises AND sunsets out of the same windows!!! It was warm enough for us to also enjoy the screened in porch! I would come back to 'The Retreat' in a heartbeat. Thank you Joanie!!!

Truly one of the best rentals we have stayed at and we’ve been going to the Mtns for 35 years +!! The owner was top notch in communicating as well as in the decorating and upkeep of her rental. You can easily tell there has been a lot of thought & hard work put into this place. The beds and linens are outstanding. All the cookware, tableware and generally the entire rental is stocked with not only comfort in mind, but also usability. The View from anywhere from this place is stunning. The entire property is so welcoming & comfortable. Can’t wait to go again. What a wonderful experience and pure joyful time through the entire stay and process in renting! 100% happily satisfied

This place was exactly as advertised, no surprises. The owner was always available via phone and text. The house was comfortable and clean. They do not allow pets or children for a good reason. It's high up and the drop off the deck would be a disaster. The view is remarkable! We enjoyed a great Thanksgiving feast up in the mountains with a warm fireplace.

What can I say! It doesn't get any better than this for a relaxing week. Everything you could possibly need to get started. QUIET, RESTFUL, GORGEOUS VIEWS. Can sit on the porch for hours reading, doing hobbies, or just listening to the quiet and watching the hummingbirds and finches. Pre-visit instructions excellent. Two TV's makes it east for couples with different viewing habits. May I say, we have been renting vacation homes in Cherokee and Clay counties for over 15 years, and this has been the most welcoming and generous.

This property was very nice, nestled in the trees. Peace and relaxing. Great veiws. Highly recommend the property.

I can't say enough about the view of this cabin and the wonderful screened-in porch. We had been to Murphy many times and have done every thing there is to do so this time we just wanted to stay and sit on the porch and take in the view. Some mornings the fog was picturesque. Very unique, cozy, homey and just right for 2 couples or four people. Very comfortable furniture. I plan on returning. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Barbara from Nashville, TN

My husband and I just adored this place! It’s so clean and artsy! Everything was organized. The view was beautiful! We just enjoyed eachother on our honeymoon. We love Joanie! We will definitely be back.

I'm writing this review even though it will mean more people will want to book this great cabin, and we want to return as often as possible. Two very comfortable king bedrooms, stylish and comfortable sofa and easy chairs in the living room, everything needed to cook a meal in the convenient kitchen, comfortable screened in porch facing a serene mountain view. Swing on 2nd level of porch with a good grill. Plants in bloom, and birds at the bird feeders. Fast, reliable internet, and plenty of convenient electrical outlets. We've rented vacation cabins for over 35 years and Joanie is the best, most considerate, and communicative owner we've ever encountered. Truly, if we didn't need to walk back up the mountain, we could walk about 2 miles to downtown Murphy with some really good restaurants-another plus. We've already booked The Retreat for a month next summer--we liked it and her that much!
