It was close to a lot of stuff we wanted to do in Ocean Shores. Within walking distance to grocery store, beach, bike rentals, kite store, Sharky's ect. The place was nice.

We have stayed at this property before and we will again! We love the themed villa, as well as the great location. Just about everything we wanted for the weekend is within walking distance. We had a great trip.

Brought the kids and they had so much fun in the Hawaiian themed room. They thought it was very cool. Place is very family friendly, from the room to even having activities outside for them as well. Area was perfect. Quiet and an easy walk to most things.

Recently stayed. Loved the decor and general vibe. Easy to park and quiet neighborhood. Only reason not giving it 5 stars is that the listing doesn't make it clear that all the adult sized beds are on the second floor, accessible only via the spiral staircase. I mistakenly assumed from the pictures one was on the ground floor. This meant the person I was with had to make due with what we could arrange on the first floor, as they could not navigate the stairs.

The property was very nice and the location was perfect for our needs. The only issue we had was the “third” bedroom. It’s really just a day bed in the hallway at the top of the steps with no privacy. Otherwise everything was as advertised and we would stay here again.

We absolutely loved our stay!! Super clean, close to the ocean, awesome Hawaiian theme inside. The host was so quick to respond to our questions and take care of anything we needed. Overall a great experience!!

The unit smelled of urine upstairs. There were wires hanging over heater burnt and kitchen items broken and dirty. Dust on everything.

We stayed in the Hawaiian unit and it was just as it looked in the photos and actually had a lot of space. Pet friendly and three beds upstairs. Everything was clean lots of towels and plenty of soap and shampoo. Close to everything and the themes are fun. I would go again

We took my daughter and friends for her birthday. It was perfect for us. Close to the arcade and walking distance to many fun activities. We will be returning.

The cottages are artistic and creative. They are so fun to walk through and find all if the hidden treats left behind. So well thought out, very beautiful. Can't wait to come back!

Perfect for Kids!
This little Hawaiian-themed A frame cabin did not disappoint. It was the perfect size for me and my two girls, 9 and 4. There is plenty of hot water, everything was clean, and the kitchen, though tiny enough to make me feel like a giant, is totally functional. My girls loved the colorful decor and the beds were comfy! The best part, however, is the courtyard. All of the kids in the development of cabins congregated there to play on the fun outdoor toys and many friends were made. The on- site employee is friendly and informative. The only thing that the cabin is lacking is lighting. The living area is pretty dark with no overhead lighting. Overall, we loved it and will be back. Also, there's wifi and cable, which was great.

Hakuna Matata House
This house was great for a weekend away with friends. The house was clean and so unique. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to, the house is only a short walk from the beach. Thanks for a fun stay!

Very cute bungalow and only a couples minutes away from the town and beach!
Skip the hotels, for this adorable place of your own at the beach. We stayed in the nicely decorated Hawaiian style bungalow complete with all the comforts of home. Loved the sweet touch of the uke for us to play. We loved our Hawaiian style stay.

Very Cute Hawaiian Villa
My family and I enjoyed staying at Hakuna Matata! This is our second time staying at Shorebirds (we were in the pirate villa last year). We were a group of five with two dogs. We had plenty of space to move around and were very comfortable. We liked walking to the ocean, as well as the shops, cinema, and grocery store. We'll definitely be back next year.

We stayed at the house for our annual women's convention. It was absolutely perfect. We had 7 ladies staying there and there was not a feeling of crowdedness. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of spare pillows and blankets. The decorations were adorable and made you feel as though you were on a Hawaiian get away. We will defiantly be checking back again next year yo stay here again.

Everything you need for a cozy stay at the beach! Love the character and charm!
Such a cute and cozy place to stay at Ocean Shores! Our family loved it. Great location to the beach and love that mini golf is just around the corner. The beds are really comfy and the kitchen is well stocked. A wonderful place to stay!

Fun, clean, spacious !
The theme of the place was super fun, we loved it! It was really clean and fresh smelling, which can be hard to find in coastal properties. Can't wait to book there again.

Clean but the lighting and staircase could be improved.
This home is an older A-frame amongst a group of similar buildings that may have once been a motel. The unit has many kitschy touches (grass skirts, stencils, decorative lighting, etc.) that the owners have used to make it reminiscent of Hawaii. It was clean but the lighting was extremely poor and the staircase to the bedrooms almost hazardous.

Hawiian oasis!
Wow! What a lovely staycation we had. The attention to detail was so appreciated. I booked last minute and the response times were amazing. Check in and out was a breeze. We saw deer roaming the grounds often, my kids loved that! Can't wait to come back!

Great fun and a great location
Just a couple of block walk to the beach these chalet's are charming and super clean.
Our group reserved two units and had a wonderful time. we left an item behind and they located it, and shipped it to us the next day.
Our group will be back again.

Great location for walking the couple blocks to the beach and easy acess to shops and restaurants.
Perfectly decorated in a Hawaiian theme. Super clean thruout. All made for a fun nite getaway and definently would return and recommend!

Wonderful and reasonably priced!
This was a quiet and fun little place. The only thing I think people should know is that one of the bedrooms is completely windowless. This actually may be a plus for people who like pitch dark to sleep in and it shouldn't deter you. Also the spiral stairs might be tricky with young kids. Other than that, however, I loved it here. I had no issues at all. It was clean, decorated in a fun way, and just overall convenient. It was within walking distance of the beach, the restaurants and the convention center. I would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Ocean Shores Experience
First time renting the Kakuna Matata Villa - We had a great time. The villa is clean with nice bedding/bedrooms. Loved that there was a BBQ. The decorations are fun and comfy. Very near the ocean and town. It was a great location for our needs. Loved it so much I've already put in our reservation for next summer.
Tried to cook a pizza in the oven.... didn't seem to heat up enough. Could have been we didn't set the temperature right though..... That was the ONLY small issue. Can't wait for next year.

Highly recommended
We had a large group and 2 pets and we were so happy to find this villa! Any hotel would have charged us twice as much and we wouldn't have been able to bring our pets along with us. Here we stayed all together in one place with a full kitchen and a beautiful Hawaiian decor. Definitely best deal in town!

Loved it!
This little getaway is both charming and very affordable. I stayed here with my best friend as a girls weekend without the family and afterwards we both thought of bringing our families next time!
I could see my two small kids LOVING this space and it's all very much kid friendly! The place is pet friendly and super clean!
The location is right next to all the shops and restraunts which is just blocks from the beach. And how could I almost forget the deer that walked up to us in the parking lot!
Overall it was a lovely stay in a lovely little duplex in a quiet neighborhood.
I definitely recommend :)

Wonderful vacation!
What a great place! Perfect for our family of 4 and fun to explore. The owners did a great job decorating it with Hawaiian decor: vibrant colors, nice details like real ukulele you can play on and great wall art. The villas are located right in the middle of everything in downtown but at the same time tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac. It was nice and quiet there and in the morning we could hear the sound of the ocean right from our bedroom. The location couldn't be any better: a 10-minute walk to every place in the city including the beach. Adorable place, very friendly neighbors and lifetime memories. Thank you so much, we'll be back next summer!

Appreciated the kindness of the manager...but this place was disappointing. Stove malfunctioned, refrigerator froze things, neither smoke detector worked and really wasn't worth the money. In addition, residents of the adjacent houses were verbally abusive to anyone who dared park! Not cool and wouldn't do it again.

We loved the place, the manager who hand feeds deer to the neighbors large friendly dog it was a nice place to stay.

This property was great for my family. We have 2 small kids and with the small nook my they were able to have their own rooms. Great space for a family.

Very nice and comfy spot
It was well kept and very comfortable. Very kid friendly except for the neighbors they were a little grumpy don't think they liked the fact it was a rental. It was close to the beach and downtown. We will defiantly go back next year.
