The location is good, close to the beach and relatively close to the village.

The sheets of one of the beds were not clean. My son noticed when we went to bed (after 11pm) that the sheets had a lot of sand in it. We knew the front desk closed after ~9pm, but we tried to see if there was any contact information in the apartment and we couldn't find it. We improvised to spend the night (there were four of us and we had three places to sleep) and the next day I presented the case at the reception. They were a little shocked, but that was reflected in an "offer" of a 10% discount on the payment. As it seemed clearly insufficient, I presented the case to Booking, which also did not help to date. In short, we usually see if the service is good or not when things go wrong. In this case it went wrong, the answer given was terrible and here I am commenting so that other people know what they can count on. For a night that costed almost 300 euros, this clearly wasn’t like staying at the Ritz. Next time I'll take pictures, though it wouldn't surprise me that the property would question whether it was us who had filled the sheets with sand and not the previous guest.

The property had water repulsion issues (at the door seal, and possibly underfloor too) in the buildings added to the main building (including the one we were due to stay in) on at least one occasion, several months before, we were informed by one of the employees. The owner had apparently disagreed with the assessment - either way, what seems to some extent avoidable was not addressed by the time we had arrived. We were refunded in cash the cost of our two nights stay. That is different and is not sufficient compensation for what we paid for - two nights accommodation. We are lucky that the formal difference in accommodation was only €10 for two nights - but he refused to cover this cost. This is appalling behaviour and in our view, should not be tolerated by Booking.com. We looked to Booking.com to recover these costs and received no acknowledgement. But the property also included free parking. And this was also not contemplated or compensated by the owner. We spent €30 on parking during our stay, and again we looked to Booking.com to recover these costs. Finally, the owner was in no way engaged with helping us find replacement accommodation. He refused to deal with us directly, left us to a very helpful employee, and indeed left the property before the issue was resolved. We further look to Booking.com to compensate us for this loss and inconvenience to put holiday.

The room was very cool. The views are amazing. The staff were fantastic.

The 15 min walk to the town is dark on the way home and just about manageable with a buggy.

The two girls who operate reception are the best I have met having stayed in many many places! So helpful and pleasant! They made my stay all the better!

The location is beautiful and the room was very nice, it is only a short walk to the beaches and restaurants.

The wifi didn’t work at all for us.

The view! The quaintness of the room. The friendliness of the staff. The village. Almost everything.

One small detail is that when the sun shines on the chickens, the smell gets a bit strong when the windows of the room are opened, and closing them makes the roomy too warm and stuffy. Except for that, everything was perfect! Highly recommend!

The hospitality

We will be back. This is a superb hotel in a beautiful setting. Beaches cannot be bettered.

The owner's son had a party with friends until the early hours in their private grounds. Whilst I appreciate that this is within their rights, it was unfortunately right next to our ground floor bedrooms and we couldn't open the windows/shutters (and it was still very loud even with them closed).

This lovely Bed and Breakfast is in a great location above Lekeitio with easy access to the town and beaches, but in a quiet location. Parking seems difficult in Lekeitio, so the ability to park at the hotel was much appreciated. The young woman at reception was excellent. Very welcoming and knowledgeable and always prepared to offer advice. Just 5/10 mins walk down to the beach and town. It was very hot, but the air conditioning worked well. Comfy bed and a beautiful view from our room and from the terrace where we eat a good breakfast. This was our last stop in Spain, but one of the best.

We loved the location and the views were incredible! It’s about 15mins walk to the beach and 20mins to the town via a steep path. The beach is really stunning and we loved walking to the island. The house is full of character and the gardens are lovely. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, providing non-feather bedding when we requested it too. We had a ground floor apartment in the main house which was spacious but didn’t have its own patio area, or sea views as some of the other apartments did.

We were glad to have access to a kitchen but it wasn’t very well equipped. No sharp knives or kettle, limited pots and pans, no salt, pepper, oil. A lamp by the single bed would have been nice. The bathroom was very small but functional. We would have like one of the side apartments with access to a patio better, but we still really enjoyed our stay. It’s a property that’s full of character and worth it for the gorgeous views.

Ask before you book your room where you will be staying. We booked for 1 night but we were not in the hotel, we were put in a wooden hut beside the main hotel. I am sure in the warm weather those rooms are nice BUT in the winter it was terrible, so cold even with the so call heaters on. To pay 85 euro and get that service was very disappointing.
