Nice atmosphere in pub and delicious breakfast . Room full of character

The matress was a bit springy

A pub with history. Kind pub owner who even helped to arrange taxi. Breakfast was delicious and tasty. we could chose room we wanted.

No answer to my phone calls or knocks on return to the property after I had been out for a walk following breakfast. check taxi price before journey starts.

Access to the rooms via an outside wooden stairs wouldn’t be suitable for everyone.

The mattress was very uncomfortable. The area at the back of the pub leading to the rooms was very untidy and could do with some TLC.

Amazing 400 year old timber framed pub.

Very friendly owners could not do enough for you. The location was really nice, and the room was clean.

Mattress on bed very lumpy but other than that the room was clean and adequate for a one night stay.

We loved everything about The Rose and Crown. We took two lovely rooms with en-suites (the larger room had a big walk in shower and the other had a bath with over shower). All four of us slept like logs.

The mattress was extremely old and uncomfortable, with springs poking through. The carpet was very old and worn. Otherwise, cleanliness was good.

Brilliant full English breakfast. Great local real ales. Lovely landlady and staff. Historic unspoiled building (though mind your head if you are tall) in a beautiful Sussex village.

We couldn't work the Roman blinds on the bedroom window.

Breakfast was great, very friendly family style service, with dog cuddles. Meals were very good and value for money.

Lovely friendly pub in a beautiful village. We stayed here for a family party nearby. It was the Jubilee weekend so the pub was really busy but we couldn't have been made more welcome. The room was comfortable, well equipped and spotless and our evening meal delicious and well catered for vegetarians. Breakfast the following morning was excellent and we felt well looked after by our lovely hosts !

Rooms was very comfortable and clean. Pub meal was lovely and staff very friendly.

Not a real issue but parking was a little tight for my work van.

Lovely quiet location in Mayfield village. Owners and staff very welcoming, good quality food and a good night's sleep.

400 year old pub with rooms. lovely staff, great accommodation and facilities - shower was best I’ve ever had ! Breakfast delicious , local free range eggs , great sausages and bacon locally sourced. Location perfect.

The food was excellent, the staff was very friendly, and the rooms were lovely! We’ve stayed at 5 pubs across the county over the last year and this was the best by miles. Would highly recommend and we will revisit as soon as we can!

Just remember to book a table if you want dinner there!

Great location for the village and it’s a wonderful ‘old world’ pub Bathroom was clean

The room felt unclean, lots of dust in and on the wardrobe & carpets not vacuumed. Lacked hot drinks, no milk. Bath towels, bed and sheets were fine.
