George was an amazing host. He met us at a really unfriendly hour to show us to the property and make us comfortable. He also had superb recommendations and was super kind in every way. The property was beautiful. Close enough to the Old Town but away from any tourist hustle and bustle. Very calming sitting out looking over the sea - you almost don't want to leave!

I think this place will forever be in my top 10 from now on! The house itself is spacious and bright, it has so much character! The garden by the fortress is a true gem! You have central location, sea view, a private garden, but it's still very quiet and secluded. Wish we could have stayed there longer, definitely recommend!

Perfectly clean. Perfect for families with children. In the heart of Rethymno. George is a great host. He thinks about every detail. Parking is not difficult. Just let know George when you are coming and he'll help you out. Great coffee machine 🙂. The place is better than in the pictures and the description. There is a washing machine, ask George about it. We stayed in Casa de Maria for 3 nights. The interior of the house is clean and authentic. For us, the most amazing part of the house was the garden with a beautiful view. The location is great. It’s only 5 minutes walking to the center. George is an amazing host. He was very responsive on Booking. When we arrived he helped us looking for a parking spot and carried our luggage to the house. We’d definitely recommend this place!!

Casa di Maria is just an exceptional place to stay. The garden and the view to the back of the property is incredible. The host George was very helpful. The check out process was smooth and at a time that was convenient. The beds were very comfortable. I had friends staying near by and we enjoyed the wine from the wine rack and the beautiful view from the garden.

I don't know where to start.. This is the BEST place we've stayed during our trip in Crete. The villa has an amazing ambiance and as soon as you enter, you feel like home. We loved the family pictures and the stories that George told us. It is very well furnished and equipped with more than we need. The AC works perfect, Wifi connection was one of the fastest we experienced in Greece, we could literally work without any problem. George was so kind to leave a bottle of wine and a bottle thyme honey. Also, he literally did some fruit shopping for us, and we were truly amazed. The garden is just a dream. There are all kind of trees from fig to lemons. We enjoyed sitting under the olive tree, watching the sunset next to the Venetian fortress.. So hard to explain this feeling. The area is inhabited by locals and feels very safe. The walk up to the villa is not that steep or the neighbour's dog is not really disturbing at all - he was so sweet btw. I must also mention that we didn't have any troubles with the mosquitos at all. George provided us the products to use against them, and we had our repellent with us. Although mosquitos like biting me a lot, I had no issues there in the middle of July. We had no problem with parking at all. There are available spots on the same street or you can park in the big parking space next to the villa. George has been so helpful and we are grateful for his instructions. Overall, it was not just a stay for us but a fantastic experience. We will never forget Casa di Maria, and we can't wait to come back. Finally, it is fairly priced, and I do recommend you to stay here, and also meet George.
