7 great Days enjoying the Del Mar Beach with Family

Great location. Kitchen equipment, supplies adequate for preparation of meals

Our three generations of family loved our time on the beach! This home is in walking distance to a playground, restaurants and a surf shop that rented wetsuits for children. Many great memories were made!

The house was as listed a little dated, but the location is what you are after here. It was spectacular, very fun and felt very safe. We loved our vacation and will definitely be coming back. My only suggestion it that the pans be updated because they are scratched Teflon. (I would suggest stainless Steele that people won’t ruin because they are thoughtless.) Ronald was very easy to communicate with and super responsive. I highly recommend this house!

This has become a tradition for a family. A place that is comfortable and feels like home. Even though the weather was May Gray this year still did not disappoint. A wonderful way to feel like you got away from it all but yet close to shopping and restaurants. Everything you need to cook, entertain, friends, and make everyone comfortable is available and ready for you. Check in and check out was seamless.

This apartment ( it is the lower level of the building, NOT the entire home) is nice. It was clean and comfortable, and the location is great. HOWEVER… Monday morning of our weeklong rental, painters started at 7:30 AM setting up, scraping and grinding outside our windows. We let it slide for one day, but when it happened again on Tuesday, I called Ron, the owner, who told me it wasn’t his fault. His upstairs co owner had hired “ his guys” to paint the exterior. He said that he didn’t know anything about it. He tried to tell me not to worry about the dust and possible lead in the scrapings because “ they don’t put lead in the paint anymore.” As a 30 year construction manager, I hated being “mansplained” to. It so happens that lead was still in most paint until the 70’s . If painters are grinding and scraping down to the wood(which they were), in older homes it is likely that lead is in the paint. Had it been tested? I’m sure not. Anyway, Wednesday morning, same story, same painters at 8 AM. I called Ron again and told him we were leaving as we could not use the home ( 2 people were trying to work from the place and the front porch was unusable). When I saw him at the property as our last person was moving out, he was rude and unapologetic. I asked him to consider a rebate and he gave me some snarky response about it not being his fault. Later, to his credit, he did give us the equivalent of 1-3/4 nights rent, despite us leaving 2 days early and having 3 days unusable.

It is the perfect location in Del Mar to enjoy the beach, the park, the town. The house is perfect for cooking and enjoying the views and access to the beach. We so much appreciate this Host making this property available as we thoroughly enjoyed it. The host was responsive to all communications and very helpful. We love it and plan to return.

Accommodation right on the beach, unbelievable view from patio and inside cottage. This is a really pretty beach and felt safe. Everything is available - beach toys for the kids, chairs, umbrella, beach towels. We grilled, ate at Jake’s and the Poseidon. Some things felt a little worn, but understand maintenance is a challenge with salt and sand. Kitchen is excellent - stove/oven looked brand new, nice countertops, large fridge, big table seats 8, laundry, bathroom has door to outside.

This is an amazing location, right on the beach. Lots of seating and the view can't be beat. The family loved the house.

The location is incredible - you can sit for hours on the patio which edges the sandy Del Mar beach. Walk to old Del Mar for shopping, meals, drinks. Walk down the beach to Jakes or Poseidon for dinner. Mattresses throughout house need to be replaced. House and furnishings are old but comfortable. Lovely vacation - thanks to owner for making everything easy.

You can’t beat the location! Nice beach cottage right on the sand. We didn’t even unpack the beach chairs or umbrellas, as you can sit on the deck right outside the door and enjoy the view and awesome sunsets! We will come again

The beach house was a wonderful place for a family gathering at the holidays. The location is incomparable and the house was well stocked and comfortable. This might become a family tradition!

The one thing missing from the listing is the fact that you are renting a duplex. We had the bottom floor so we walked right onto the sand but did not know that until we had paid in full. The upstair renters partied pretty loudly several of the days we were there.

Great location! Perfect for a beach getaway. Home has everything you need. It’s certainly not the Ritz but you cannot beat the location. I would stay near again.

Awsome location and house.

Perfect spot! Needed a getaway close to the beach. This was the perfect location. We sat out on the porch with our morning coffee watching the surfers and people walking on the beach. Kids had a blast playing on the porch with the dogs. Literally walk from the porch steps to the beach. House was clean, spacious for all 7 of us. Ron was great in responding to my various questions leading up to our trip. We had everything we needed once there. Grilled each night on the porch while enjoying the ocean. Neighborhood is quiet and beach wasn’t crazy busy so we could actually enjoy our own space. We were so lucky to find this spot and will definitely be back!!

Even in December it was another beautiful stay in Del Mar with lovely sunsets, walks on the beach and BBQing on the patio. Plenty of space for my adult children to come and go, and everything you need to make meals at home during this family staycation. Check in, check out, amenities all perfect for us making staying here a yearly tradition Thanks Ron!

If you are looking for the right location in Del Mar, this place is it ! A bit outdated, but it's a beach house, ocean front ! I rather be oceanfront and focus on the ocean view/sand vs the interior style. Great time with family and friends

The location of this property could not be beat, however, there were a number of issues for me. The overall feel of the house was old and not quite clean. The washing machine and vacuum were both broken upon arrival. The rug in the living room looked like it had been through a few seasons of use and was caked in dirt and sand. The owner/property manager was very responsive and helpful and did fix the vacuum and washing machine on our third day. One thing I will mention that was strange is that the owner did come up to the house from the beach and tell us he was going into the garage while we were staying there. He and a friend came through the side of the house while my family was sitting in the patio. It made us feel very uncomfortable.

Great location! We especially loved being able to walk out the door onto the ocean front patio and right down onto the sand. It was amazing. My kids loved being able to walk to Del Mar Pizza or to the Snack Shack for an ice cream. The house was clean and had everything we needed/wanted. Thank you!

The house was a great size, very clean and comfortable.

We really enjoyed our week at the great beach-front home. It is very comfortable and the 3 bedrooms provided plenty of space for our family. But the best part was certainly the ocean-front patio and the view of the waves from the living room. The kitchen was well stocked and in good shape. The interior furnishings are comfortable but not super fancy. The bathtubs were a bit dinged up, but that isn't surprising in a beach rental. We'd definitely return (preferably when it is warmer!)

The house is right on the beach. The interior is clean and functional, nothing luxurious but comfortable. It accommodated 5 adults and two Labrador dogs very nicely. We stayed last year for Thanksgiving Week, and again this year. (2019) If you book through VRBO, beware the non-refundable service charge,.

We love Del Mar and you just can’t beat staying at a home right on the sand. It was a perfect fit for our family and we really enjoyed our stay! We look forward to returning!

We rented a car, but then never needed it. This place is perfectly located on the beach and a very short distance to anywhere you may want to go. The property owner was very responsive and the house was great.

Perfect place for a family trip/reunion, step right out onto the beach and parking was so easy too! The place was very clean and spacious, our only qualm was that we had 7 people staying here and only 2 or 3 extra rolls of toilet paper and 1 or 2 paper towel rolls, so we had to go buy some more for ourselves. But other than that small snag, it was a flawless experience. Highly recommend staying here!
