The house was absolutely filthy and stank of sewage. We had to wash all the silverware, dishes and pans before we could use them because everything was covered in a greasy, sticky film. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the sheets smell dank and musty. The upstairs toilet wobbles, there are cobwebs everywhere, half the blinds are broken, parts of the subfloor are exposed with nails sticking out, etc, etc. We started calling this house 'the gift that keeps on giving' because of how many issues we kept encountering. It was easy to check in and the location is great, but the house itself is a health hazard.

This property was fantastic! Mountain surroundings with an ocean view. We watched whales from the deck everyday. Home was rustic cabin but extremely clean. Whole process was wonderful. We will definitely be looking into renting this one again. Theresa

We really loved being able to walk right down to the beach. House was cozy with plenty of space for everyone to sleep. There’s not much space for seating in the living room but we spent most of our time outside anyways. Would come back again!

Great place for a getaway, awsome views and secluded. Driveway is tight for large vehicles and a little confusing finding the house using GPS. Absolutely would stay there again.

Loved our stay at the Cedar House! Beautiful ocean views, nice walk down to the beach. Close to Devil's Punchbowl, restaurants and shopping. Quiet, restful and relaxing.

This location was the best part of this property. Deck views of beach, a trail close by to a waterfall and the softest, cleanest sand. You’re a short drive from Depot Bay or Newport as well. But the driveway is steep, which made very many trips to and from the beach very tiresome. The house and linens were clean, but there were some seasonal ants to deal with. We couldn’t find the broom to sweep up until we did a visual sweep of the property at checkout. Turns out it was outside and the dustpan as well but by a different door. The house has enough beds to accommodate two families but only one small couch. The bathrooms have decent water pressure. The outside lights were not working, but that made it easier to see the ocean at night. Not much has changed about this house since it was built in the 60’s, and it’s a quirky setup. But it has what you need and it’s peaceful, nice for the dogs as well. The deck is large and well kept, and the property is clean.

The property is literally at the end of the road- finding it was not difficult with the instructions provided. The cabin itself is rustic, so if you are looking for a modern, up-to-date kitchen and amenities this may not be the place for you. We wanted privacy and access to the beach- and this place was perfect! There is a hike up/down the hill to and from the beach and the last section requires use of a hand-line to lower yourself to the beach. This was not an issue for us or the dog that was with us.

The property is run down, outdated, and poorly maintained. As many other reviews confirm it was very dirty on arrival. If all you are interested in is a place near the beach that fits a medium size group this place will suffice but I wouldn’t return or recommend it to friends. Beach is only accessible to able-bodied visitors.

The first thing we noticed was the darkness in the house. It was all beautiful wood inside, but the lighting was awful. We took the glass shades off the bedroom/bathroom lights to provide more lighting which still was not enough. There was no lighting in the hallway where the pantry was. We were forced to use the flash lights on our cell phones to see inside cupboards, which were filled with junk. We are unable to turn the heater off, so windows were opened.

The few pans there were warped and filthy, which explains the stains on the glass top stove - we scrubbed off with the spray cleaner we bought! Also no hot pads.

In big letters, the ad says the house had a dishwasher (there were even washer tablets) but the fine print said no dishwasher. Hmmm???

One bedroom had 2 bedside lights, 1 light was not plugged in because it was not able to reach any outlet!

The upstairs laundry closet, which was clearly marked sheets, blankets was EMPTY. No spare blankets. My sister did find an extra blanket tucked in a cubby in her room. When she opened it up, Doritos fell out!!!

Previous reviews mentioned the upstairs shower not working. It STILL was not working! This was unacceptable for our large group, and we’d would like to pursue a partial refund. Are the owners not reading these reviews?

Even though the house sleeps 8, the 1 couch and 1 torn chair were not enough for all of us in the living room. The dinner table had the extra leaf in it but the dining area was not large enough to accommodate the table AND us. We had to move the table partially into the living room for any of us to access the table/chairs which was still a tight squeeze.

The long narrow gravel road could be difficult for big vehicles to navigate. Just know that brush could scratch your car.
