There was so much to do and loved the Assateaque National Seashore! We had Beach fires with s'mores, kite flying, surf fishing, sting rays, scooters, electric carts, crabbing, and amazing sunsets on Chincoteague Island!!

Jay's Retreat was the perfect homebase for our family of four to explore Chincoteague and Assateague for the week. The home was very clean, convenient and comfortable. We especially enjoyed crabbing right from the dock behind the house. The neighborhood is quiet but a quick drive to all there is to do in the area. We would definitely stay again.

The hosts were very communicative. We made good use of the propane grill and ran out. The host was there with a new tank within 5 minutes.
The kitchen was very well equipped with everything needed to cook and a good supply of a variety of spices. The hot water on demand was welcome for warm showers on chilly nights.

We had a fantastic time! The house was lovely with all amenities you’d need. The island was great! It was overcast and cold but we still had a great time. Definitely recommend Chincoteagues island adventure with captain Randy! He’s fantastic! Thank you for everything!

The house was perfect for our Chincoteague visit. Well stocked kitchen, excellent outdoor seating and just clean and comfortable all around. The bikes and kayaks were important to us too as was the peaceful neighborhood with lots of trees and bird life. Would definitely stay here again.

we were all so pleased with the features of this home. Large screen porch, canal deck with gas fireplace, cozy decor. Small sq footage but cozy for friends gathering! The pictures are accurate.

We were impressed with the attention to details. Everything we needed was supplied, beds were comfortable, location was great. We loved having the kyacks to use. The bikes were not in very good condition and one of them got a flat while riding because the tire was dry rotten. But, we made the best of riding them and were grateful for having them. I would recommend this place to others and would stay here again.

My daughters and I were looking for a fun place to escape for a few days for April vacation, and my daughter’s and my birthdays. We absolutely found the perfect place. Jay’s was clean, in a wonderful location, had amazing view, amazing amenities, and the girls are already talking about when they want to go back. We were able to cook a lot of our meals in the great and well-stocked kitchen, which was key. We used the bikes and the kayaks, and Chincoteague is an amazing town to visit. We were even greeted with a personal message and a little something sweet for our birthdays. We will definitely be back.

I brought my family to see the Ponies of Chincoteague. We found the home and location to be calm and charming. A highlight was taking the kayaks out, turning to the right, right again after a short distance to the bay and seeing the oyster beds up close. Everything was perfect!

Trees and water are my jam!! The location was absolutely gorgeous. The house was cozy and comfortable. The decks were fantastic places to hang out. The kitchen counter was veeerrry long. The place was well stocked with everything. I appreciated the story behind the house. Such a peaceful retreat, I look forward to returning next year.

The house was clean and had everything we needed and lots of extras that most rentals don’t have . We loved having the use of kayaks and bicycles. My husband and son even caught some crabs off the dock. We would definitely stay again.

This was our first-time visiting Chincoteague Island. Jay and Ann were very helpful giving us ideas of different things to do in the area, places to eat and the general area. They were very responsive to my messages and usually got back to me within minutes.

Great home for a gathering of 5 women for pony week. Peaceful setting on the water, very quiet but still close enough for us to bike to all the pony events. Very comfortable and well stocked. Bonus: came with soaps, shampoos and paper products. We never had to go to the store for forgotten items. Only ate out once.

Jay’s Retreat is in a perfect location on the island! It sits nicely on the canal so there’s lots of opportunity for kayaking and crabbing. The screened in porch is a life saver with the mosquitoes! The house is very nice with plenty of space. It was very nice having the additional half bath; it is in a very tight location so it’s better for smaller individuals. All in all, it’s a great place for a vacation home and we hope to be back in the future.

Vacation for 3 generations of water lover. Adults could supervise children from the deck and screened porch on the dock below. Close access to the inlets plus view of the sunsise over the same. Layout of house perfect for Multigeneration family. Owners seem to care about tenants .

The property was very clean, the rooms were wonderfully decorated and comfortable, and there were bikes and kayaks available for use. The porch and neighborhood atmosphere was very welcoming, and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. This was also the first place we’ve stayed where there were so many kitchen and toiletry items. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Chincoteague, VA is halfway between where I live, and where a long-time dear friend lives—this cottage on the water was perfect for a weekend catch-up. Ann was wonderful, welcoming, and responded quickly when my Vrbo account—and all relative info—would not show up on my cellphone. It’s a lovely place, very well maintained, convenient and comfortable. I would love to go back!

We quite enjoyed our little winter trip to Chincoteague and this house provided the perfect place to relax. It is close to everything, including the wildlife refuge (we visited every day), but is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with nice water views. The house was clean, clearly cared for, and check-out procedures were reasonable. Will definitely stay here again!
