We stayed in the top floor apartment (no 7) first two weeks of September. Great location if you don’t mind stairs and some walking uphill, central to the harbour but not on a main street. Very quiet at night. Good views of the harbour and views of a tree-covered bank/old olive grove behind, where I never saw a soul. A nice private spot. Owner Johnny very helpful and responsive. Our apartment had balconies front and back and lots of windows so really good for ventilation during the day. Air condition. Plenty of wardrobe / cupboard storage. Parking on site and some on street nearby if this is full (only happened once in a 5 night stay). Lots of tavernas along the seafront within 5 minute walk as well as a tiny pebble beach / nice swimming spot. A bigger beach (Paradise beach) with taverna on road above just 1km away (15 minute walk or 5 minute drive). The best restaurant we found however was the other direction (inland) 5 minutes away - Pergola - a family run business with a lovely upstairs terrace and views and the best food we had anywhere. A couple of small mini-markets in the town within 5 minutes walk, for basic food provisions. Payment cards accepted pretty much everywhere but good to bring cash as it’s generally preferred due to bank fees (and the economy was traditionally cash-based). Electricity in apartment on all the time (not key-dependent) so you can charge your phone/tablet while you’re out. Agia Efimia is a good base for exploring the island by car. Quite close to Melissani Lake & the Drogerati Cave (combined entrance ticket just €10, just turn up). Owner Johnny also does small power boat hire if you fancy a self-drive day at sea.

Wifi not up to scratch - very patchy and intermittent (which was more of a problem for me than normal as I had a couple of work things to attend to which proved tricky). Maybe Johnny will consider upgrading this for next year as it’s so important to many people now. Kitchen equipment a little sparse if you want to cook much, though Johnny rectified this somewhat when asked. Could do with a bread/sharp knife (there were two steak knives but not so good for cutting fruit and veg)! A few ‘end of season’ maintenance issues like a blown lightbulb in the bathroom and the fridge-freezer needing defrosting (so the fridge kept freezing the contents until we got the temperature suitably adjusted and the ice melted off the back) - but these were small issues which I hadn’t bothered to raise with Johnny and in fairness I’m sure he would have put them right if I had. The kettle was broken which he immediately replaced when asked. Generally good standard of cleaning. Room layout a little bit awkward to manoeuvre (getting at wardrobe, going to the loo at night without stubbing your toe on a chair leg or your hip on a counter corner) until I did a little rearranging (turning table orientation around, sliding sofa & coffee table across a bit, moving a chest a few inches...) which improved this no end! Perhaps it just needed a woman’s touch! 🥰

Great location. Very clean. Fantastic panoramic view. Big space. Nice balcony for breakfast and evening drinks.

The bathroom was in the main bedroom, it there were more than two of us there would have been no privacy. Inadequate for a penthouse. The shower tray was tiny and the curtain didn't hold the water, especially when washing your hair, it leaked all over the floor.

Johnny is the perfect host, always available for every need! The sea view apartment has the best view in Agia Effimia!

Beautiful, comfortable studio apartment (perfect for a solo traveller) with a lovely balcony and sea view! The location was ideal as it's relatively straightforward to travel to most other areas on the island.

The view

Johnny kindly gave us an upgrade so we stayed at the penthouse. It was incredible, the views are astonishing. There is plenty of space so you can feel at home. The balcony is amazing, specially for a wine at night with the little town and port at your feet. Walking distance from main street with all the restaurants and shops.

The bathroom doesn’t compare to the rest of the apartment, the shower may need an upgrade so it completes the great experience that is staying at the penthouse. Also, note that the parking space is very limited. Most of the days we needed to park in the main street.

Lovely penthouse apartment that had amazing panoramic views over the Agia Effimia harbour. Huge bedroom and living area with air con, just what we needed! Johnny was great at communicating with us and organised a very efficient airport transfer. We had a fantastic time in Kefalonia and would definitely return.

Nothing to dislike

The position of the property gave a beautiful view across Agia Efemia. The apartment was very clean, spacious and a great base for our holiday. The bathroom was lovely and the kitchenette had everything we needed for self catering snacks and simple meals. We loved sitting on the balcony, late afternoon, in the sun with a glass of wine!

Johnny is very easy to talk to and always at your disposal if you need anything. He also rents out boats right on the promenade of Agia Efimia - we will definitely check that out next time ! The apartment has a really spacious balcony (Johnny kindly gave us a free upgrade) with a beautiful view of the small harbor of the town. The room is equipped with a kitchen (refrigerator), grill & stove & a pretty big bathroom (shower). Theres plenty of space for your things & a nice AC for the summer months. Our room also had a nice, warm blanket for two, which we loved - usually you are just given sheets & thats just too cold when the AC is running at night. The room was clean & comfortable. Would definitely stay here again ! Thank you Johnny =)
