This was the best setup we could have hoped for - Four Fields was in a beautiful, quiet spot, the house was very clean and a great size, and everything in the kitchen and elsewhere was well-stacked. The house isn't far from fantastic hiking either. The best amenity though was the fenced in backyard - we frequently travel with our pets and letting them run around outside with security was amazing. Doug was a great host, too - very communicative and kind and made himself available for any questions or concerns (there were none, but it was nice to know we would be able to reach out if needed!). Thank you for a fantastic weekend. We will hopefully be back in the future!

Great house and location

We wanted a short getaway for part of spring break and Four Fields did not disappoint! The house was clean, well appointed and a great layout for our family. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. Great location for hiking and skyline drive. We will definitely return.

My husband and three grown children loved our stay at Four Fields! The view was amazing. The house was stocked with everthing you could need and it was spotless. The view was gorgeous and oh so peaceful!

Our family of four had such a wonderful stay here! Doug is a fantastic host, went the extra mile with great communication and local suggestions. The house is well laid out, spacious and comfortable. Our dog loved the fenced in area and roaming the property. Our oldest son uses a wheelchair for mobility, and the main floor was perfectly accessible for him. The views are incredible and the setting is peaceful. Not far from Monticello and Shenandoah NP which were our 2 main destinations. Thanks so much for sharing your place and the hospitality!

This was hands down my favorite place I've ever stayed. We were in Madison County for our wedding, and Doug could not have been any kore amazing or accommodating. The view is 10/10, and was absolutely the most perfect house to keep our dogs with us while we got married. The guests who did get to see the house said the same thing! We will absolutely be returning! Maybe even to go hiking for our 1 year anniversary.

The host was amazing. Perfect gateway. We didn’t need to get anything except food. The house was well equipped. I highly recommend it. Definitely deserve 5/5. Thank you Doug, great communication.

Great house so peaceful and tranquil. The only noise we heard was an occasional vehicle and cows!!

We stayed at this property for a couple of nights in late December. Its a lovely house with a beautiful view of the valley and the mountains. The house was very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed sitting next to beautiful fireplace and enjoyed. The owner was available and responded to our questions quickly. Overall, it was a great experience. Definitely recommend it if you are looking a quiet place to stay outside the city hustle and bustle.

Lovely property -- clean, spacious and well-maintained. The views are awesome, and Doug is a wonderful host. There are many opportunities to do short or long hikes within 15 minutes of the property. I highly recommend it!

My two friends, my dog and I were thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail exhibited at Doug's property! Literally any/everything you could need was in the house and the location was perfect for the 360 mountain views and close access to multiple wineries. Dog bowls, mats and blankets topped off the accurate description from many reviewers of the house being incredibly well-appointed. After spending the last three years looking for the right house for our yearly girls' winery weekend, we all decided Doug's place will be the new standard, as long as it is available!

The home was beautiful, spotless and extremely well equipped. The house, property and location were as described and made it difficult to leave. We plan on coming back.

The pictures in the listing are beautiful, but the being there is even better. The place is well-furnished, clean, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. We loved sitting on the deck and enjoying the fantastic views. Our host, Doug, communicated well with us and we had everything we needed. Would definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

This house was so comfortable for the seven of us. The house is three levels with a bedroom and bathroom on each level. The basement level was a nice surprise with its roominess. The house is super clean and well stocked with essentials. The view from the deck is wonderful and peaceful. Doug was amazing to work with. He’s thorough, responsive and very accommodating. We toured wineries in the area and did some antique shopping. We very much enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay here again next time we are in the area.

My daughter got married at the Barns at Madison and this location was perfect. So tranquil and the location was perfect. Doug was great!

Another wonderful weekend at Four Fields! We loved the Hazel River hike. The house is so wonderful. Love the fenced in yard for the pup, the views, the porch, the summer grilling — all close to breweries and wineries! Everything was fantastic and we can’t wait to return soon!

We had a fabulous stay at four fields. We attended wedding events at Early Mountain and this was a perfect property for our family. The house has everything you need will stocked, since it is a drive for last minute items. The views were wonderful and we were able to spot a few deer. thank you for opening your home to us.

Doug is so great to work with and our stay was wonderful once again. Slow and relaxing days - hikes with the pups in the morning and cooking in the perfect kitchen every evening. It’s just perfect!

We were a gathering of old friends, and the setting and layout of the house were perfect for our reunion. The house was immaculate, the view magnificent, the kitchen was incredibly well-equipped, and Doug was a great host and communicator. We will be back, for sure!

Really enjoyed our stay for some relaxation. Picturesque property and immaculately clean, with plenty of room to spread out. We highly recommend.

Happily, we discovered there is so much more to say about Four Fields. The location is instantly calming. We (6 adults and 2 dogs) spent the entire week at the house relaxing. The large deck has a gate to keep the dogs safe and comfy cushions on the furniture. We cooked or grilled every meal and YES, the cookware is plentiful and nice. The dogs made the utmost of their private “dog park” Upon entering you will notice that this home is super clean. No dust bunnies anywhere- I know because I had to retrieve several balls from under the sofa and beds. The attention to detail and thoughtful touches were apparent everywhere: Fire extinguishers inside and outside too- near the firepit; blinds on every window; a very well-lit kitchen- dimmer switch for the lights under the cupboards; night lights throughout; baby gates; and things I was surprised to find such as twine, a digital meat thermometer and blood pressure monitor. Doug, who was attentive to our needs as we needed him to be, deserves the title super host for sure! We were blessed to discover him and Four Fields. We are truly grateful that he loves dogs so much!! We have already booked 2 more stays.

We just left Four Fields after a long weekend getaway for some hiking and relaxation. 4 guys wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the DC area, kids sports, etc. This was an awesome property and location. The house is well appointed and the decor is very well done. We spent hours on the back deck enjoy the quiet scenery with a cocktail. It was cloudy the first night and we saw the most amazing light show provided by fireflies for 2-3 hours. I’ve never experience anything like it, there must have been tens of thousands of fireflies lighting up in the field behind the property, truly amazing Additionally, it’s a 5 min drive to the Old Ray trailhead and close to brewery/winery, Sperryville and the entrance to the national park. Perfect place! I expect to be back with the family soon.

This is our second stay at this property and we’ll probably return again!

Hundreds of fireflies? Check. Peace and quite? Check. Vineyards? Check (so many vineyards). Farmer's Market? Check. The list goes on and on. Do a lot, or do nothing at all. It's up to you! We are so glad we choose this property for a family vacation. The house was close to several hiking trails especially old rag mountain trail. We enjoyed eating dinners out in the deck with the wonderful view. Our dogs had a great time in the fenced backyard. I wouldn’t hesitate renting this house again in the future.

Doug was very accomodating for us since we had to cancel a prior visit with very short notice due to a family emergency. We are very grateful for that! We finally were able to spend our week at Four Fields and could not have enjoyed it any more than we did! Our son's Greyhound LOVED the large fenced in back yard! It was like having our own private dog park! Thanks Doug!

We absolutely loved our stay at this serene property with beautiful views. Our dog loved relaxing in the huge fenced yard and playing fetch at long distances. My husband and I enjoyed the peace and quiet and all of the outdoor space. The house itself was impeccable and Doug was a fantastic host who helped accommodate our stay on short notice. We only wish we had more time there but hope to return again. Highly recommended!

This house was just as wonderful as the listing! Nice layout and furnishings. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. Very convenient to Old Rag…which unfortunately now requires a reserved pass that needs to be booked ahead of time. Plan ahead for that!

Our stay was so relaxing and beautiful. It was just what we were needing. Amazing views, clean, and very homey. You won’t be disappointed.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend stay to celebrate my sisters birthday. There was plenty of space for 3 couples and our pups. The location is so beautiful. We enjoyed the woodstove, fenced in yard, and second floor wrap around deck. Such a beautiful pastoral setting with easy access to trails and only 20min to Madison. Doug is an incredible host and has thought of everything. He was doing some work in the barn next door and refunded us a night out of fear that we were disturbed. This was very kind and conscientious, especially since it didn’t bother us a bit.

Beautiful location & home. Tastefully decorated, everything you might need is here, and our dogs loved the fenced in yard. Will be back for sure.
