Had the pleasure of staying here over a BMS race weekend. Penny was easy to reach and communicative before and during the stay. The house is conveniently located (roughly 15 minutes to BMS with raceday traffic), was nicely equipped (including a snack basket!), and had everything we needed for our stay. WiFi was good enough to support a couple kids streaming with no issues. Would happily stay again.

My sister-in-law and I decided we could live at this house. Warm inviting big quiet. The owner was always immediately answering our questions. Everything we needed was there. Hope to be back next year.

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at John and Penny's property. It was so spacious, so clean, and had everything we needed. Only 15 minutes to Bristol and 20 minutes to Holston Lake. The best part was the view from the screened in porch as we watched a storm pass through. We are very grateful that we found their place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and Penny was great at checking on us. We enjoyed the view from the porch and one of our party even caught a trout. We would recommend this wonderful spot to others!

This is the second time we have stayed at Penny and John's lovely home on the banks of the South Holsten River in eastern Tennessee. The river is well-known for being full of trout and is considered one of the best flyfishing rivers east of the Mississippi. The home itself is spotless and spacious and up on a hill with views of the mountains beyond the river. My husband and I had a quiet, relaxing vacation fishing, reading, taking walks and roasting marshmallows under the stars. Be aware that the access to the river right across the road from the home is a bit of a steep climb, but there are other access points nearby and guides for the fisherman who wants to learn more about the river.

We had a guys trip to Bristol Motor Speedway. The host was great let us settle in early. The place was clean, spacious and very quiet. Really enjoyed our stay the place was perfect. I would highly recommend for anyone. Thanks

Beautiful home near Holstein River

We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. The bedrooms are so spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. This house is situated between Johnson City and Bristol, giving convenient access to both. We weren’t there to fish, but having the South Holston River across the street was still lovely. The hosts were super responsive when we had an issue getting a channel on the TV and we got it worked out right away. Only 2 things to note: there was a bit of a smoky smell from the fireplace and the 2 queen room is the master. The listing probably said that but I wasn’t paying attention. Just pointing it out for future guests. Overall we enjoyed our time here.

The cozy cabin was nestled next to the roaring Holsten River. The cabin was very clean and provided all the comforts we needed for our stay. We enjoyed watching the deer visit every morning while drinking our coffee on the screened in porch. We definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet break.

Fun weekend

Penny and John were amazing hosts. They kept in communication with me the whole time answering any questions that we had. The house was perfect! More than plenty of room for our group and clean as a whistle! We will definitely stay here again!

The property was exactly as listed. Homeowner Penny was extremely helpful and accommodating. The common areas of the home were enormous. Quite rare for a vacation home, where normally as many bedrooms are stuffed in as possible, to increase rate potential. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. While enjoying the firepit, i realized that I hadn't seen a car on over an hour. Highly reccommend

Our 4th of July getaway was simply wonderful! The property was amazing, cleanliness was a huge factor and this definitely met the standards. The host were very accommodating and made the process super easy. I would recommend this property to anyone and would surely stay again. It’s close enough to everything but also far away enough to have peace and quiet!

Owners were very accommodating in discussing before we booked. The location is convenient to SOHO access and short drive to the Watauga. The house is beautiful! Well furnished, it is spacious and like a home away from home! Scenic view and privacy will make you sad to leave at the end of you stay. We'll be back soon!
