We recently stayed at this beach house in Mission Beach, San Diego, and overall, it was a pleasant stay with a few areas needing improvement. First, let's talk about the positives. The location is perfect! Being just a short walk away from the beach and local attractions, we enjoyed the convenience of exploring the area with ease. Parking was also a breeze, with ample space available for our vehicles. The home itself was decorated nicely, providing a comfortable and welcoming ambiance. However, the cleanliness of the house left something to be desired. The floors didn't appear to have been cleaned recently, which was evident by the gritty feeling underfoot. Additionally, the bedding was disappointing; one room had stained sheets and hair in the bed, while another had dog hair all over it. This was quite off-putting and not up to the standards we expected. On a brighter note, the bathrooms were well-maintained and clean, which was a relief. While our stay was mostly enjoyable, a deep clean is definitely needed to bring the house up to its full potential. With a little attention to cleanliness, this beach house could be an excellent choice for future stays in Mission Beach.

Nice property, very clean. The only issue was parking. There is a parking spot but it is quite narrow. When the neighbors park in front of their garage it is impossible to make that turn in a van/truck/suv

The stay was enjoyable and loved having a patio and area to enjoy sitting outside. The condo was very clean and would consider staying there again in the future!

We enjoyed our stay. The rental had all that we needed. Location was just steps from the beach, which was very convenient. Parking was very tight. Luckily we saw that in other reviews and made the trip in our sedan instead of a truck. All in all, we had a great time and i'd recommend this place to others.

Very clean, very spacious. Honestly the pictures don’t do it justice! Only thing was that there was a unit upstairs we weren’t really aware of and we heard someone up there a few times although I thought it was just supposed to be us at the property. A few little things like the remotes not having batteries and one of the exterior doors being impossible to close after being opened, other than that it was amazing ! So close to the beach and very well accommodated!

We loved this home. We travel to San Diego a few times a year (often in Spring to watch our son's lacrosse games: he plays for SDSU). We bring extended family, including grandparents: so renting a home that has at least one ground-level bed/bath is key. Parking is a must as well-and the fact that this home has two spots was stellar because we had no parking issues when our son brought his car down from college to hang out with us. This home fit our group of six perfectly with room to spare on the (very comfortable) pull-out couches. It was clean as a pin and the decor was so beachy and cozy. We loved the sunny patio and also loved that we could hear the waves crashing just steps away. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you to the hosts for creating such a comfortable beach getaway!

We stayed for 5 days over spring break and had 10 people total (6 adults, 4 kids) and had plenty of room for everyone. We loved how close it was to both Mission beach and Mission bay. As others have said parking was tight but we were able to fit 2 small suvs. Plenty of towels/blankets for everone and it was great having the washer and dryer in the unit although the dryer vent definitely needs a good clean out. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will boomagain for future stays.

We stayed at here for one week in January 2024. This condo is well located, just inside the Strandway, and about 3 houses from the beach. It was also well stocked with staples including spices, condiments, laundry soap, toilet paper, reusable coffee filter, etc. The main living areas are on the first floor and were a little dark for that reason. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms are also nicely remodeled although not shown in the photos. We did run into some maintenance issues and pointed them out to the owner, who was very responsive and helpful along the way. We did not encounter any upstairs noise as nobody was staying there at the time, but we can see how that might be an issue as the upstairs staircase is right along the side of this unit. Also, the smart TV gives you access to all the streaming services (with your own subscription) but unfortunately uses Roku rather than cable TV for basic channels. We found that to be not very user friendly—couldn’t get the football playoffs, for example . Overall a very nice beach condo with the caveats mentioned.

We selected this location because it was close to Balboa Park, Zoo and other kid friendly activities. Having the beach steps away made this even better. We enjoyed that it was not directly in front of the beach so we did have constant foot traffic in front of our location. The house was very well equipped for what we needed. Would have been nice to have plastic wrap and foil, but we made due. All in all it was great for our stay. The only problem we had was with the parking. The space is super narrow and if you have anything larger than a sub compact it will be difficult to get in and out. And parking in the area is very scarce. There were many restaurants within walking distance and some nice bakeries and coffee shops. I would definitely book this place again.

Great location!! Beautiful home with everything you need. So much within walking or biking distance that you never have to get in the car.

Used the house as base for a mini reunion in the area. We were out and about most of the time so didn’t take advantage of all the house had to offer, but it had all most would need (well stocked kitchen, coffee maker, washer/dryer,linens, etc) House was a short walk to the beach or bay. Tons of restaurants and shopping within walking as well. Parking space was very tight, so recommend you bring/rent a smaller car. The small places seemed to be the norm for the houses as well as businesses in the area. Small car will save you some headaches.

The overall house was as described. It was recently updated and super nice. The owner was also really great to work with and very responsive with any questions. I only had two complaints with the stay. The backyard patio had a nice table set up that was lovely to hangout throughout the day into the night hours. My only complaint with the patio was that it was infested with flys. I believe this was due to the wood chips starting to decay from all the moisture it holds. I would recommend taking the wood chips out and replacing with some nice river rock or artificial turf. The neighbor in the old single store house that is west of us was extremely rude and showed his hate towards tourists. He stormed out 2 times during our stay trying to belittle us. He also stated that he was the property owner of the building (which I confirmed with the owner of this rental he was not). Again, this is something out of the control of the property owner, but it just be aware of the neighbor.

I rented the property for myself and my best friend and her family. We had a blast and enjoyed chilling on the patio and of course going to the beach. Seriously just feet away from the beautiful Mission Beach and bustling boardwalk. My nephew his wife and three boys from Texas joined us for their first California beach day and loved it. They boogie boarded all day! You can't beat the views and the beach lifestyle. I can definitely get used to it!! The house was comfortable and perfect for us!! We never even turned our tv on. So many things to do. We rented bikes and rode up and down the boardwalk all day and checked out the Giant Dipper and all the fun at Belmont Park. I truly had an amazing time on my first beach trip back to Mission Beach since I lived there in the 90's and had a blast sharing my favorite eats and treats with my friends and family! Luigis Italian restaurant, Gelato and the taco shop were a big hit! I can't wait to come back!! Thank you! Anni

Overall amazing experience. Great location steps away from the boardwalk and beach. Short walk to great restaurants and amusement park. Very clean and updated home. We will be back!!!

The condo was very clean and the owners were thoughtful in supplying you with everything you may need. Only problem we had was the renters on the floor above us were loud and partying all night. This was hard with a 2 year old but other then that our stay was very nice.

Absolutely brilliant property, perfect location, just exactly as described. All the reviews you have already read about this property are true. It is truly amazing and we are looking forward to our next visit.

Check-in and VRBO customer support were a complete disaster as our family could not access the property manager when she failed to provide us a key-code or instructions about the property. Then spent 2 hours on the phone with numerous VRBO customer support specialists that also failed to resolve the situation. My family sat in a park as darkness fell trying to resolve the situation. We had reached out to the property manager a week prior who said we couldn't get in early because it was being cleaned earlier that day. Nobody was there and then we couldn't get in when it was the correct check-in time. It wasn't until a neighbor of the property contacted the property owner who actually helped us. I would never stay somewhere this property manager represented and would be highly reluctant to use VRBO as their customer support was abysmal with a stranded family of six.

This property had the perfect location. It was also extremely clean and had all the amenities we could wish for. I’ll definitely be back.

Very nice property with a well stocked kitchen and beach items. We had a couple of unfortunate things happen; when we arrived the upstairs area was infested with termites. Within a couple of hours they had someone clean up and spray. The other odd thing was they supplied a nice grill, but told us we were responsible for the propane, so we had to go to a store and pick up a tank, which was very heavy and inconvenient, to say the least. The owners said we were to receive a discount for the bug situation; however, we have not received anything yet, but it has only been a couple of weeks. Overall, we had a great time, loved the location, loved the unit, and loved the beach. I'm sure these issues have been resolved by the owners, so I feel I can give a "thumbs up" review.

This property was in an amazing location and had everything that was promised as well as needed. The grandkids had a blast, not to mention so did their parents and of course me, the grandma. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. You can tell the owners really want you to feel at home and comfortable in the house, and have made sure you are able too. We are already talking about coming back next year. The only advise I have is to maybe have a pest control spray for the ants, or put out any baits, as it is the time of year and they want to join you . Wonderful time and looking forward to it again!

The location of the house was great! Very close to the beach and Belmont park. The house was perfect for our family. We had all the supplies that we needed and the decor was really cute. The parking area is a little narrow but was still convenient to have two parking spaces. Thank you so much!

Overall I was happy with the place . That said, I would suggest upgrading the queen mattress in the room upstairs. I was fine for a couple days but it was not pleasant. The couches downstairs have several stains . It does not seem like a big deal to address it and it would improve the overall impression.
