We had an amazing holiday at Casa Marmelo! Everything we needed was in the villa and Helena’s breakfasts were fantastic. Great base to explore the Douro Valley.

Kate was very helpful from the beginning to end. House is beautiful and Helena makes it very special. Our friend and family were very happy with our choice.

We LOVED our week at Casa Marmelo, and everything was absolutely wonderful, especially Helena. She is the gem of Casa Marmelo, and the views are the BEST! We wanted for nothing, as the house was very well stocked and decorated. We loved the pool and used it daily, everyone loved their rooms, and the VIEWS!!! We also appreciated all the assistance in dinner reservations, setting up taxi’s, and airport drivers for those leaving early.We loved it so much that we truly hope to return one day. Thanks so much!!

We were a family group of eight coming from different places in the US to celebrate my birthday. Even now members of the family are posting pictures and saying that this was the best vacation they have ever had. Casa Marmelo is exquisite, immaculately maintained with every detail included. Communication with the hosts was amazing, with a detailed book of suggestions of restaurants and activities, which we made much use of, and we received email updates during our stay. Per our hosts suggestion, we booked Chef Pedro to prepare a delicious meal on site for my birthday. And breakfasts—Helena, assisted some days, made amazing breakfasts, and her generous, caring spirit started every day with joy. She is a treasure. If you book, your expectations will be exceeded. Please do keep in mind that roads are narrow, often cobblestone, and navigation even by satellite can be faulty. Casa Marmelo is beyond paradise and will abide in our hearts. Thank you!

This place was so incredible that it ruined every place we stayed after on this trip. Helena was very accommodating, and was very patient with our poor Portuguese. The views were astounding, the pool was wonderful, and breakfasts were a true feast! We enjoyed our walk across the bridge, a train trip to Pinhão, and many relaxed evenings in the villa. I strongly recommend picking up groceries on the way in, though, of. It was tough to drive a large vehicle on tiny roads,

The house was even beyond our high expectations. Beautifully situated above the Douro River, extremely well equipped, excellent breakfasts, wonderful amenities and layout. Kate and Gary could not have been more responsive and helpful hosts. A thoroughly great experience.

The house and location were more amazing and gorgeous than the pictures reflect. Everything was done with impeccable taste, and with every luxury possible, including a full breakfast buffet every morning served by the wonderful Helena. The hostess Kate was incredibly responsive to every question, text and phone call. We felt so well taken care of! We are definitely coming back next year and can’t wait!
