For the price, this rental is just what we were looking for. It’s not super nice or fancy, but it is clean and has plenty of space.

Dunescape was a nice location, only stepped away from the beach. The house was well furnished. Only one small TV in the living room. Yard not maintained, grass and weeds growed up all around.

Reviewer Comments: We had our original reservation across from the beach cancelled when that house was sold to new owners. We normally stay on the beach or across from the beach as was our original reservation but by the time of the cancellation, there was no availability for our large family. This house fit our needs as far as the size goes with the added bonus of the downstairs guest suite (access is separate from main house). Access to the beach was a little over a block away but was not bad, especially since we rented golf carts but it was also easily walkable taking 1-2 minutes or so. The house is older but could use a little TLC. Note there is no dining room so plan for that when dining. It still worked for us. Property was clean except that it could use additional cleaning on baseboards, etc. (deep cleaning). We had to call for the wifi password as it was not included in the paperwork we received but other than that we had no issues.

Really bad soft spots in floor at one end of house. Encountered a swarm of flying termites in the living room one night. Poles under deck ate up by termites. One out of five ceiling fans in
the house worked properly. I could probably list more but will run out of space. Would not recommend unless these things are taken care of.

Property was quite roomy with an ocean view. Kitchen is well equipped.

Everything I wanted in a beach house rental. I’m not wild about being directly on the water, so this being a block from public access was perfect for my vacation. Everything worked well in the home, parking and living spaces were more than adequate. Area is quiet and secure, far enough from town that you don’t have much traffic. We will definitely be staying again!

Upstairs was better once we turned air down, opened doors. It just seemed as if it had been closed up. The clean towels on the beds even smelled like the house. I have stayed in several houses in the island and this was by far the least updated. Rotting wood on the outside. It was ok for the weekend. Weather was beautiful so we didn’t have to stay inside much.

The inside of the house had an awful smell of mold/mildew and there was a stain from a leak in the ceiling above the kitchen. The downstairs room was unbearably moldy/musty that we couldn’t even use the space. The wood around the stilts of the house had rotted through. There was also mold and dust around the air vents inside the house.

If you are allergic to mold or mildew sleep upstairs. The front porch is scary, use the back deck. When we stayed the outdoor shower area was gone, but there was a water hose we used. It was clean, thank you to the cleaning crew! Nice view of the ocean from the back deck! Nice price for the area!

Unfortunately there was some unfinished construction work outside that was a mess and an no fish cleaning station. We have rented this house several times and it has served us well.

A few things were not up to expectations and it was slightly disappointing. The pictures on the website were clearly pre-hurricane. Both decks were not safe and a lot of the wood was rotting. We were completely unable to use the front deck due to it leaning forward a worrisome amount. On the back deck, the two sides that were not covered were scary to walk on. One side detached probably 6 inches from the house while we were staying there and it made us not sure if we should even use that deck. Also, an outdoor shower was advertised and there was not one there only a water hose. Other than that, we love the island and wish the best!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Beach Birds on SGI. The house was comfortable and spacious. Would rent there again.

Extremely easy renting this property. The check-in/check-out procedures were simple and concise.

Good location for beach access. The home could IBstand to use more TLC on the inside like bathrooms could use some updating, just freshing up the inside more would help like fresh paint, cleaning doors and windows. Outside area could realy use a little improvement cleaning up work to make the outside space more usable under deck area. Overall for us it was okay but didn't show like the pictures advertised.

The only problem with this place is the oyster shell driveway. It's like walking on an oyster bed. It's not good for us old people. Could easily twist an ankle or cut a foot.
