Great attitude Beautiful and clean place

The location is super - views right over the backwaters. With only 4 rooms, Vala House is a little oasis of calm. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. We used their bikes to explore which was an added bonus. I definitely recommend staying here.

Small choice for breakfast

Had a wonderful experience at Vala House. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. The rooms were very spacious, nicely decorated and clean with a beautiful view. If you're in Cherai beach area Vala house is a great place to stay.

Breakfast was superb. Well prepared with lots of variety of fruit etc.

Hot water in the bathroom was not sufficient to shower it went cold within minutes.

Attractive property. We booked a king size deluxe room. The room, with air conditioning, was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was perfect. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was good (no other meals are catered on site). Each of the rooms at this hotel look onto the lake with a veranda sitting area which is enclosed with mosquito netted windows. Ideal for watching the Chinese fishing nets being operated in the evening. We had a late flight out at the end of our stay but management very kindly allowed us to keep our room until we left late afternoon. Very appreciated.

To get to the restaurants near Cherai Beach Junction, you need to take a tuk-tuk or walk at least 30 mins. There are fewer tuk-tuks up this end of Cherai Beach so we often ended up walking quite a way before being able to flag a tuk-tuk down.The property is indeed very near Cherai Beach but the beach is very narrow at the northern end. In the time we were there we saw no foreigners sunbathing or swiming in swimwear. Cherai Beach felt very much a local beach resort where people were on the beach or went in the sea fully-clothed.

The view over the lake from the room and restaurant was beautiful and very serene. Staff, Lallu , was incredibly helpful. Fresh fruit for breakfast very welcome along with traditional food. You order from a nearby restaurant to eat at Yala House restaurant. Lovely menu. Chill Out Cafe nearby worth a visit

The location, being so close to Cherai beach was why we chose Vala house. In reality it's close to the brick wall at the beach. There is no beach you can use. A tuk tuk ride needed to restaurants.

This is truly an exceptional stay and a very good value for money! The design and setting of the house was astonishing! Very well maintained building, with a unique architecture that makes you feel cherished and gives you privacy. A real cocoon in Cherai Beach. The patio in front of the room with view on the backwaters, is a perfect spot to chill out. A fan, comfortable seats and mosquito nets gives you a perfect ambiance to have a drink in the evening. The view on the chinese fish nets at the back and lakes is very refreshing! The caretaker Nagaraj was caring of all our needs in a very professional but also delicate way. The two breakfasts we had were so delicious with a mix of local dishes and western foods. Norbert helped us a lot to arrange our visit and thanks to all the team our trip was very smooth and relaxing. Definitely the best place to stay in Cherai! Thanks a lot Vala House, we will definitely come back if we get the chance!

The only place to stay at in Cherai Beach. We were there only for one night, but we made long-term friends with Sinna and Abhilash, the two partners. The property is cozy, comes with a great view of the backwaters, and is spotlessly clean. For people like us who uphold cleanliness, Vala House was such a refreshing stay. We really felt like it was a home, not a hotel here. Nagaraj, the caretaker was very attentive. He ensures that you have a good time and no comforts are missed. He was kind enough to take us on the backwater walk near the Chinese Fishing Nets. We really enjoyed that walk, and his knowledge of the place is elaborate. He takes care of all your needs. Sinna leads all the designs you see at Vala House. He has individually curated every room to a particular taste. Right from handpicked linen, and well-designed curtains, to remarkable side lamps, to personally designed cabinets, Sinna has given his touch to the entire experience. We even traveled to Edapally to purchase linen from Roots Cottons, which delivers to Vala House. We loved it so much. Abhilash is kind and very service minded. Just the way it should be. He helped to arrange afternoon snacks on the first day from a local cafe. He also ensured that the breakfast spread was well curated. We really enjoyed the local delicacies of appam and kadala curry. Abhilash made our stay frictionless and ensured that all needs were taken care of. We left with great memories. The hotel partners are attentive, they listen to your suggestions, and they genuinely love what they do.

We stayed here for two nights and had a lovely stay. We booked the first night quite spontaneous and arrived at almost midnight. But still Sinna, the host, was really nice and helpful and made us some omlette and vegetables (we haven't eaten all day). All meals we had were freshly cooked by local women and were absolutely delicious. We had really good conversations with Sinna. Vala house is freshly renovated, everything looks stunning. In the morning you can see the fisherman working with the chinese nets. All together we can definitely recommend this place if you want to relax and have a great time.
