Ice. machine not working. Office not manned. Needed to g o a block and a half to check in.But I must say the room was exceptionally clean. Couldn’t get Wi Fi password.

The hotel was in a state of disarray when we arrived. The parking lot pavement was falling apart. The building was old and in need of cosmetic upgrades. It looked like a roach motel from the out side. We asked to see the room before we committed. The room itself was decent at first glance. The bed was comfortable but had only three fairly flat pillows (would’ve been nice to have two each for my husband and I). The room seemed clean at first glance as well and was free of offensive odors, but we later found a used bar of soap in the shower, dirt in the tub basin and makeup stains on the bed linens. The bed linens were also thread bare. There was no Wi-Fi that we were aware of. Amenities stated that there was a free breakfast—there was not. The walls were thin and the yowling neighbors kept us awake until late. The hotel was pet friendly but required a $20 cash deposit (cash only, you can’t use a card for this so we had to go find an ATM, which also was not available on the property). In the end, it was a cheap hotel and it was sufficient for our last minute decision to stay overnight in Ely, but you get what you pay for. Next time we will definitely budget for a better hotel.

Broken window and no working AC had to sleep with door open beacuse it was so miserablly hot. Paint peeling off walls and Dirty bedding we slept on a blanket we had in our car because everywhere elae was. 9oked for the night. Had to go to another motel loacatio. To even check into our room and this was listed as a hotel which by definition is an inside entry is a Motel and should be listed as such

This place is absolutely terrible. The pictures are completely deceiving and in no way represent the actual place. We opened the door, walked in and immediately walked back out to find another place to stay. We truly are not that picky or fancy but this place is a complete ripoff. I can’t believe it’s even offered as an option on Expedia. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $50 and stay somewhere else.

No hot water. The place is outdated and is not appealing in any way. We very uncomfortable there and would never recommend.

Dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Hair in the bed sheets, and carpet made my socks black.

2 separate locations, coming from the west, 1st stop was not the correct one, then waited 30 minutes for the staff to explain, poor customer service. Better options elsewhere in town.

I have stayed in several dumps in my life and for the price I didn't expect the Taj mahal I stayed at the Nevada hotel in the past and for an old building it was well maintained. they claimed this was a hotel, I made the assumption It might have normal hotel facilities. I was tired when a got there and the room smelled musty there was not top sheet on the bed and the tv had a poor reception.

Well had 3 bugs not sure what they were but they are dead. One bed was nice the other was very firm. No micro or fridge.

Worked out fine. Vintage roadside motel downtown. Room was clean and updated.

The room was fine for just sleeping. The outlets were not working well in our room, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. However, at night, there was a man yelling and swearing outside of our room. We were not sure who he was exactly yelling about, but it appeared to be some sort of domestic issue. In the morning we tried letting the front desk know, but there were no staff to speak with..

This property Is in extreme disrepair on the outside. At least the room is clean. Lots of noise from traffic and train. This is barely a basic motel. Won’t be staying here again.

Manager is working hard to revamp an old motel which has been abused. There is still plenty to do but I admire her fortitude. Bedwas comfy but queen sheets on king bed, no coffee or cups for coffee maker, not enough towels or TP (cleaning staff issue?). I can't really recommend it as it is now but hopefully the future will improve ratings. Good little continental breakfast and coffee in lobby.

At first look I was concerned what the motel looked like from the outside. The interior was a pleasant surprise. Smaller room but updated. I feel it was worth the money.

no one was in the office when i arrived. i saw a phone number posted on the door so i called it and an abrupt person said 'just a minute' when i asked to check in my room

I was surprised the out side off the hotel looked run down some but the room made up for the outside appearance.

Staff is responsive and friendly. The room is clean. The facility and parking lot are both old and in disrepair.

Most of the motels in Ely are old structures from the '50s and perhaps even earlier. The owners of the Magnuson have done an excellent job of refurbishing the room. It was clean and tidy and the carpet looked new. Internet access is a little difficult but that's true in Ely generally. The TV kept fading off and on again it may be the issue with dish which is not of the owners making The water was lovely and hot. They had a large assortment of items in case you forgot them including small packets of toothpaste. I would definitely stay here again on my occasional trips into Ely

Parking lot was in disgraceful shape. Furniture in room was stained and broken. Towels were only a bit bigger than dish drying towels

When we got to the room assigned to us, we opened the door and realized immediately the room had not been cleaned. The bed sheets were mussed and there were dirty towels on the floor. We went elsewhere.

Do not trust the glowing reviews. This is one of the worst motels I've stayed at of nationwide travels. We expected outdated for $87 but not a room that appeared to be in no condition to rent. The subfloor was rotted, bulging in places and severely uneven. The rotted wood cracked anytime we walked around the room. There were no baseboards and gaping holes between the carpet and wall and we couldn't help wonder what creepy crawlys were coming through there and getting onto the bed skirts that dragged on the floor. Beds and springs were shot and creaky. Bedding so old and threadbare that you could see through them, blankets scratchy, tv and ice machine didn't work, and the whole room was in need of a deep clean. We would have slept in our vehicle if overnight temperatures hadn't been below freezing.

Arrived with snow falling, no one in reception. Followed instructions, walking around outside in cold to check other rooms for hotel staff, found no one anywhere. Rooms appear torn apart and filthy through windows. Called number provided, no answer and could not leave message. Finally heard from manager who apologized and said she would reimburse charges, still waiting.

The parking lot was a real mess and the area sketchy. I didn’t see any security cameras either. Discouraging if you have stuff in your car. The office was supposed to open at 7 AM for continental breakfast but at 7:15 the door was still locked. I just wanted coffee and finally at 7:30 someone showed up but I assumed they would have to make the coffee, so I just went across the street. Otherwise it was clean and there is an attempt to update the place. The bed was comfortable.

I like the quick drive up and park plus the easy check in. The place is centrally located to the old town shops and casinos. Also, walking distance to town's park and historical sites.
