Hotel room had frosted windows which felt very uncomfortable and the windows were nailed shut!! Bathroom was very clean.

We loved our room, the Executive Suite. Had everything we needed and possibly the best view in Portland ❤️ Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. The staff were really friendly and we loved the history and detail of the building. The menu choice in the dining room was very good and the meals we had were delicious!!

It is a grand old hotel with all mod-cons (except an elevator). Walking distance to most points of interest and shopping areas.

Accommodation is attached to hotel and the rooms and furniture are dated. We stayed on Level 2 (stairs access only) but all guest movement could be heard through the ceiling. Location whilst centrally located was great, traffic noise was very noticeable.

Thoroughly recommended, the 2 x front corner upstairs rooms are magnificent and very special, we re-visited after 23 years. This is a very special experience which we thoroughly re-enjoyed.

We have a lovely stay in this older style fully renovated hotel. It is well located in the center of Portland and easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Welcoming reception and a large bright room made for a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

the restaurant kitchen was closed by 8:30 pm .Not suitable for a traveler who arrives late.

We stayed in a King suite, which was clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The cupboard for the fridge and kettle was awkward to access, and considering that this accommodation cost more than most of the available options in Portland, it was disappointing to find that even the water was at extra cost. Small touches like a discount voucher for the hotel restaurant or free drink at the bar would have been nice, but we did not feel that any effort to make guests welcome were made. There was nothing useful in the hotel information (A map of the area and local sites would be nice!) and we had to wait a long time for service at reception. Overall, however, the room was pleasant and the location excellent.

The rooms are very large by travelers standards. Quaint furnishings and a preservation of the old hotel make for a room with character.
