This is a cool old castle, that needs some tlc. The pool is nice but didn’t have enough chairs and could use a facelift. Rooms were nice but ac was terrible.

This is a first class hotel with responsive amd friendly staff. The location can be spotted from miles away at the summit of a very high hill above which provides wonderful sights of the city and river. The dinner was outstanding and the staff attentive.

We had a bit of a rocky start during our stay. First we had to wait for our room to be ready. To my surprise, the superior double room that I booked was much smaller than both the photo and description on the hotels.com website. When I went to questioned the front desk about it, I was told I had the correct unit booked! There were larger rooms on the website for less $!! Later we found out the a/c unit wasn't cooling off, front desk was called and informed the problem was with the third floor and "maintenance was looking into it"! We had to sleepwith the windows open to get some cool air into the room, which also meant waking up at crack of dawn because of light coming into the room. To be fair, the gentleman in the front desk was so embarrassed the next morning, that he immediately moved us to another room which was not only bigger but also had a balcony! He also apologized plenty for the A/C problem, something that the lady totally ignored the night before! As for the rest of our stay, gorgeous resort with amazing views. Restaurant serves very good breakfast and excellent lunch! Service was also superb at restaurant. Can't say at the bar because no one bother to show up to serve us in the 15' we waited outside at the table! Pool is gorgeous with amazing views of the ocean!

First visited this Pousada in 1997 and said if we ever come bs k to Portugal we must come back to this beautiful panoramic location. We were very pleased with our reception, room and the great breakfast and dinner. Even better than we remembered,

This is a beautiful property with amazing views over the town and ocean. The hotel is lovely, a tad dated but it is beautiful.
It is a twisty drive with switchbacks up to the hotel for those with my fear of heights!

The hotel sits at the top of a little mountain and has spectacular views. The service is great. Food is delicious and they serve a wonderful breakfast buffet. I hope to stay here again. You can take a funicular to go into town.

The hotel is located at the summit of Monte Santa Luzia and offers a commanding view of the basilica standing just below it. The facility is great and servies are sufficient. The hotel manager went out of his way to help by driving home and bringing in his own WiFi converter for us to use, because the hotel equipment was waiting for repair on that day and there was no WiFi on the floor we stayed.

Location couldn’t be better, the view was the best. Two things of dislike air conditioning didn’t cool the room, also the toiletries were bulk form would have expected that the hotel would have more of a spa type of individual toiletries. No bar soap.

Excellent hotel. Quite a climb from the town but the view is credited as one of the top 10 in Portugal. Wonderful room with balcony. No tea or coffee in room which was unusual. Last of 4 hotels i our tour and the best.

I don't have much to add, but the view is really very very nice. Viana da Castelo is certainly worth a visit too. It has a nice old city center between railway station and the river. With the elevator, 3 euro per person for a return ticket, everything is on walking distance even from this high located hotel.

The superior room with sea view was simply amazing, on the top of the world! The furniture is quite old, but stylish. The staff was ok. I usually don't like Pestana brand, but the hotel is really nice. No bottle of courtesy water in the room. The pool was very good. I usually don't like Pestana's breakfasts, but here the products were good (except eggs). It's without any doubt the best hotel in Viana.

A beautiful setting and a very helpful staff. Everyone was wonderful. We drove from here to Porto and caught the Metro outside the city so we didn't have to park in town. The staff was so helpful in their advice on how to do this. The breakfast was the best on our 12 day trip. The view from the room was gorgeous.
