Firstly because the Hibiscus motel is what the reception staff said as being the budget section of the Waves Hotel the staff treated you like asecond class citizen. There was an A4 size sign high up on a post telling you to go round corner to the Hotel to checkin not good. I have slight mobility issues the step to get in door of unit was over 300cm it was really difficult did not make stay pleasant. Only 2 towels for 2 people for 3 days yuck! Microwave didnt work. Overall DO NOT STAY HERE OR THE WAVES HOTEL ROTTEN EXPERIENCE. Only good thing was the coffee shop across the road.

Great value for money, great location, nice and quiet

Comfortable place!

Good location being so close to the beach. Hotel should put a broom in every unit, as sand is an issue on tile floors during multi night stays. Construction in the area surrounding the hotels made for very loud, early mornings.

Location is pwrfect just walk to the veach and shops and bars. The property parking is small a squeeze to get in and out. Property clean but damp smelling and no ability to cook only a microwave. Location sold tue place thats about it. Cable tv wasnt working some excuse solar was installed but the room booklets advertise foxtell. Wifi was free and fast enough. Littoe lounge was comfy ok for ahort stay. Bit less in price be more reasonable for what you get.

Very clean and updated inside older style drive-in motel. Smack in the centre of town near the beach and restaurants.

Small, old-school, basic motel with parking in front of your room, therefore view onto the small carpark. Renovated, so felt fresh, but curtains were falling off the rails and were difficult to close, and the shelf in the shower was broken and missing so the only place to put shampoo etc was on the floor. Kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave, jug, toaster, tea/coffee. Bed,del, a couple of lounge chairs, tv. Check in around the corner in another hotel. However it was cheap (for Byron Bay), great position (5 mins walk to centre of town, 5 mins to beach), eateries and shops around, and it was quiet. All in all worthwhile if you're on a budget.

Great location right in town close to all shops and eateries. One block from the beach.

Checkin was nice and easy. Staff were friendly. Room was basic, but not unexpected. There was a very unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Nice and close to everything.

All reasonable for the price. Good kitchenette but no room to eat inside. A bit small for three adults. They charge 2 percent extra for use of credit card which does not happen anywhere else.

Run down looks like no one has done any upgrades since the 90 s

The room is clean, spacious, and is air conditioned. It’s very convenient to get around and great access to the beach!

great location in middle of Byron Bay

Basic but clean comfortable hotel. Showing its age but very close to everything in Byron.. Comfortable beds.

A clean, quiet, basic motel room a few hundred meters from the ocean. Small kitchenette with some supplies. Good lighting. Check-in at other motel next door. Pricey, but that's Byron Bay.

I've stayed here twice, it's in the centre of town. Perfect location everything is within walking distance. Motel is clean, has all the necessities including a kitchenette and parking is right outside. Definitely recommend staying here if your in Byron and don't want to spend a lot on accommodation or go to a hostel.

We left this property as it was cold in appearance and uninviting for 4 night stay. The bathroom was tiny and inadequate, entrance not appealing. However it was clean and the bed comfortable. We upgraded elsewhere for not much more.

Great little stopover on the way north. Not much to do at night / eat, so come prepared

We were aware that the accommodation would be basic so our expectations were not high. The property was in a really great spot so on balance we were happy and spent the money on shopping and eating out!!

Great location, clean rooms and nice size & layout. Staff were super friendly.

Had noisy neighbours making lots of noise till 3am. A very down market motel. Had to check in at another property and the checkin person was off hand. Bed was too soft and gave me a sore back. Two star rating is about right. Wouldn't stay here again. On a positive side, the location is good.

The Hibiscus Motel has a wonderful comfortable bed and chairs. It is close to everything you need including fabulous breakfasts and good coffee. Byron Bay is always very busy so it is good to have a quiet little hideaway to enjoy a quiet moment. Plus thier giant TV with Foxtel is great for watching Sport or catching up on the local news.

The building is a bit old and tired but the bed was comfortable and it did the job. Good location close to town
