It was an excellent hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Ambience within the hotel is fantastic. I also loved the fact that it was so close to the Boudhanath stupa.

Far from Thamel, but if you want to escape the tourist and noise then it is ideal. Spacious clean rooms make for a comfortable stay. You will sleep very well in the bed. Staff are great!

What can we say, everything was great. Our stay was fabulous with the important things to us being; the service was attentive to us as guests, the restaurant food was of great quality for Nepal and the staff made us feel very warm and welcoming - nothing was a problem, the deluxe rooms were spacious with garden views which was a nice retreat for us after being on a 3 week trek of the Himalayas. For us we enjoyed having our own space at the Cabvebar to have a drink and read a book each evening. The hotel price point was spot on. Overall the hotel was clean and we could not fault the service, even after we checked out and had to wait until 8pm for our flight, we were treated as guests all the way until we departed for the airport. Our appreciation was shown by the tip we gave on departure and we sincerely hope this is shared amongst all the team at the hotel. You can be sure we will recomend this hotel to fellow travellors! Thank you for being a part of our traveling memories!!

Wonderful breakfast, great service, great location to visit Boudha

Amazing hotel! Location isn’t the best if you are looking for more of a tourist area, as it’s fairly far from the tourist area but closer to the airport. Could hear the drums from Boudhanath in the morning and evening. Amazing service and owner is on site. WiFi signal was not very strong on the 4th floor unfortunately. Great restaurant on site and massages available in room which was a great service! They even let me stay in the room for a very late check out before my flight back home.

Excellent food and service at Lungta Restaurant. Very knowledgeable and friendly service overall throughout the hotel. Standard rooms’ decor is simple but clean, and they have fancier rooms for a bit more. Convenient location just walking distance from the Big White Stupa. Will definitely stay with them when I visit Kathmandu again

You can walk to the Boudha and experience all the lively local shops just a few minutes away. Just be sure to have the address and telephone number of the hotel to hand for the taxi driver! Don’t miss the Shambaling

Great place to stay in Kathmandu. Very accommodating staff, excellent restaurant, walking distance to Boudhanath, easy cab ride to and from airport.

Taxi drivers have problems finding the hotel so perhaps the staff could tell hotel guest what to say to cab drivers to make it easier for them.

An oasis within the chaos that is Kathmandu. Access is very difficult. Hotel really delightful. Charming staff. Great value.

First timers to Kathmandu would probably do better in Thamel. This hotel is a bit further away from most tourist interests, but the food, service and room were excellent. Traffic delays would be a killer for most people.

Beautiful hotel, Immaculate presentation, all staff went out of their way to provide excellent service. Faultless. Would not stay anywhere else.

The staff were really nice and cordial..the only problem was that you had to keep the water running for at least 10minutes if you wanted warm water for a shower. Also I had to pay $10 extra for a room with an AC and the AC did not work on one day :( The wifi worked in spurts;

Kathmandu is a complex city. The Shmbaling is something of an oasis. The hotel is located I a calm and peaceful setting yet within easy and interesting walking distance to some major attractions. The hotel is indeed "boutique"; small, very comfortable, with very professional and friendly staff. I had a larger room overlooking the hotel garden. This was great. Meals in the restaurant were very good, with a good range of Asian and Western choices. I know little about other hotels in Kathmandu, but I have now stayed at this hotel twice within a 2 week period and would definitely recommend it to others.

This hotel is like a sanctuary in the middle of Katmandu. It definitely has a Nepalese/Tibetan feeling to it. The hotel is surrounded by a wall and there's a nice, peaceful garden in the middle of it. The restaurant is excellent, and the staff are super friendly. I had a couple of special requests, and they were very accommodating. The main drawback is the location. It's not close to any sites, shopping, or other restaurants (at least not that I was aware of). And the roads in the neighborhood are really bad. A cab ride to Thamel is about 20 minutes.

Very nice and clean rooms, very good standard for Nepal. Very friendly staff, supporting in all matters. Short walk to Tibetan Stupa, not that crowded and loud as in central Kathmandu.

This hotel is located about 20 mins from airport, which is partly why I chose it for a 1 night stopover after trekking. The other reasons were that it is close to 2 world heritage sites. One was within 10 mins walk and the other 30 mins further. The last reason being that it looked like a decent hotel. I wasn't disappointed.

A very beautiful hotel in a quieter area of the city. The staff were fantastic; they made every effort to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was also great.
