The room was small , but very clean. All the staff where very friendly and helpful.Breakfast for £2 unbeatable.The location is set in the centre of Edinburgh. Lovely weekend thank you.

1staff member (male) great worker, good for the hostel, sorry cant remember his name.....great eclectic hideaway, lovely and cosy, comfy beds, easy check in, deposit of Drivers licence or £10 or passport-returned to you upon check out.kitchen, lounge downstairs and an abundance of everything the city can offer.

Great staff. Great location. It was a bit inconvenient to be locked out between 11 and 3 pm, but got used to that after a few days.

Its a big hostel. The room was nice but lack of storage space. The kitchen and lounge were spacious but pretty crowed all the time. If you prefer quiet place, probably here is not for you. But overall here is nice and reasonable price.

The staff was really great and the location was really good. But the room was hot and smelled sweat. It also felt very old and outdated. The facilities needs to be cleaned.

Very clean beds and bathroom, kind staff. Great common areas. Central location, with walking distance to just about everything.

Wonderful location! Fun and quirky. My only issue was the showers. They need better drainage and/or a place to put clothes - especially if the shower rooms are mixed sex

I booked a private room. It was very small and bed was hard pillows too. It was noisy but doable. The shared bathroom is coed with two showers and three sinks. No amenities and for the price I paid I would not recommend.

The building is very unique, and the kitchen is really useful.

We wished we had more time to spend to enjoy the squashy sofas, tv, books- even guitars and pianos to use, but were too busy seeing Edinburgh. The simple breakfast on offer for £1.90 was excellent value. There was a good mixture of ages and nationalities staying when we did. The only people I wouldnt recommend this hostel to would be those who cant manage a lot of stairs.

Guesta in the dormitory were up & down all night & naking noise & having conversations :( Curtains around each indivudial bunk would be nice touch for more privacy especially when sleeping :) Guy in front dress very helpful, pleasant & tasty too ;)

Fabulous location. Friendly staff, very helpful. Would definitely return.

Great location and the facilities are clean & spacious. Decor is not as modern or hip as other places but I prefer it’s laid back charm. Guests kept to themselves a bit, but that may be just when I happened to be there.

I can’t believe that in all my 44 years I’ve never stayed in a hostel. Thought I’d take the plunge because fed up of sitting on my own in a hotel room, sitting in my own in a restaurant eating food I didn’t really want, and hugging a pint on my own in a bar. 2 nights at the High Street Hotel in Edinburgh has changed my idea of business trips to the city forever! Eat what I want, when I want, sit and chat with friendly people of all ages from all over, or just quietly on my own I wanted. Film night, WiFi, no faff, no fuss, no pretences. Comfy bed, though beware if your a bit older or less agile as upper bunks take a bit of leg strength and control to do with finesse! I went in mixed room as doesn’t bother me, but could do single-sex if wanted.Now I’m left asking...why did I never think of it before?

This was exactly what you would expect from a hostel. It does the trick and has an amazing location!

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. The rooms are large and comfortable, as well as all the lounges and kitchen.

Good location. The check-in is smooth, the front desk is helpful. The room is packed as expected. However the shared toilet and bathroom is a little bit messy as it serves many residents with limited bath cubicles.

The SYHA was full so this was the only alternative at a reasonable price
