Small, semi-secluded property on Purmana beach - a narrow, black sand beach with big waves. It’s probably a good choice for honeymooners or couples seeking isolation. The gardens and pool area are beautiful and well maintained. The service is attentive & courteous, but don't expect proactivity, concierge or a 5-star service level. Good food, catering to European and American guests. Don’t expect spice or truly local flavors. I stayed in a villa with its own pool. It was nice and comfortable but did not meet my expectations for a 5-star resort. Some of the furniture was old/chipped, there was some mold on the bathroom walls and near the pool and with a semi-open shower, you should expect regular visits from geckos, spiders and various other insects while using the bathroom. Overall a good 4-star hotel (not 5 as advertised), but not one that I would return to.

It was magical experience. Hotel has very beautiful villas with everything you will need. The location is truly fabulous, a little wild in a good way and connected with nature. Thanks to the staff for the excellent service, everyone is very friendly. Breakfasts were really gorgeous. The only issue that there was not always enough hot water in shower

Words can't express how amazing this property was. From the time I arrived to help with transportation to each and every meal was top notch. The grounds were amazing and clean with constant grooming and changing of towels and organizing sitting areas. The staff was very attentive and friendly and a few live events were at supper time thought the week. It was very quiet all around so if you are looking for a party crowd maybe not your place. The spa was amazing but I only had time for a regular massage as I didn't book soon enough for some of the other treatments I was lookin for. I will absolutly book this property again the next visit to Bali!

We had an amazing stay and despite not getting obvious reduced rates that we were promised I would rate this experience very highly. One thing that fell below expectation (only one) was the romantic private dining. The beach was unsuitable (litter/debris) and the garden dinner wasn’t private.

Nice hotel & good service

While the property is somewhat remote it is very self contained offering superior comfort and service. We had a one bedroom unit with pool(a real 30 metre pool not a plunge pool) surrounded by high walls for privacy. The bathroom is large and modern with sunken tub and rain shower. We loved the spa services which were a bargain compared to US prices. Restaurant was excellent and staff are top notch. The only slight negative(not for us) is that the nearest beach town of size is about 25 minutes by car.

Great property but be aware there is not alot to do around in walking distance.

Excellent service and exceptional accommodations. The complimentary morning rooftop yoga was an added bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. All of the added touches made this an extra special romantic getaway.

This is our 2nd time here (1st time was a couple of years ago) and our stay was outstanding. The villas are beautiful and well appointed, the private pools are amazing, the staff were friendly snd attentive and the food wast delicious. We'll definitely be back the next time were in Bali!

If you have the possibility to book this place, do it! We had five amazing days in a villa with pool. The staff are super friendly and service minded. The vibe is cool and the place is clean and tidy.

The hotel is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon here. The black sand beach is beautiful. It isn't swimmable but to wade in and walk along its perfect. The private pool was awesome and the restaurant and spa were as well.

My partner and I had an incredible stay at The Royal Purnama. From the moment you arrive, you are treated like royalty. The service was exceptional and we would like to say a particular thank you to Dodik, Putri, Puspa, Jaya, Okta, Ketuk and others for making our anniversary so special. The rooms and hotel are beautiful too and the food is basically a fine dining experience. The hotel is also well located to explore Ubud or explore Nusa Penida via transport. We saw quite a few previous reviews which wished they could have stayed longer, so this is exactly why we stayed put here for our entire stay in Bali and we have absolutely no regrets. Will be sure to come back and visit again soon!!

We stayed in the Sunrise Villa which is located adjacent to the beach. 4 separate bedrooms and a separate living and kitchen area. Full sized pool and plenty of space with beautiful landscaping made it easy to spend time in the Villa. Staff, especially the F&B folks, were attentive and ready to assist and serve as needed. The GM was always read to listen to our thoughts and make recommendations and suggestions. The black san beach, while beautiful, was not inviting for us. Great to look at but we walked on it once and cut the walk short. Wonderful stay and we look forward to returning the property and the Sunrise Villa. Recommended.

The whole experience was wonderful

I was traveling to Bali with a group of friends and absolutely loved it. The property and villa were stunning. Felt so spoiled from the start with help with our luggage and being greeted by a delicious drink and nuts from the get go. You have a beautiful view of a black sand beach and rice paddies. The restaurant was absolutely delicious. The staff was also so helpful, welcoming, and personable. Would recommend getting a massage because that was probably the best massage all of us had ever had. The only thing is you definitely need a driver to explore outside the hotel, which the hotel will help with. Would love to come back and will recommend

we liked food and nature

We selected this hotel as first stop in Bali, mainly for rest and to get used to head and jetlag. Was a perfect choice for our objectives. Nice place, friendly staff, small but nice pool area.

I enjoyed staying here very much. The property itself is lovely, spacious and clean with beautiful gardens and walkways. The pool villa was spacious snd beautiful and i liked the little kitchen with a sink, dining table and chairs. The bathroom was huge but semi open so geckos and other creatures would cone in the night. The private pool was big and great but really cold in comparison to the other 3 hotels i stayed in. It took time for us to get in. The bed wasn’t too comfortable because it was too bright to sleep. The wooden blinds let the light in and there were no curtains. Food was absolutely delicious. Had breakfast and dinner there each night. The black beach was beautiful but you have to use quite steep stairs to get down to the beach. It you have knee problems, it might be difficult. A couple of times house keeping forgot to refill the shampoo/shower gel and leave us outside towels by the pool. Also once or twice they forgot and took the floor towel mat by the entrance to the pool with them without replacing it. One think I noticed, with breakfast and dinner no drinking water is provided at all, and i guess you must request it as we did which I found a bit strange. You can have your breakfast in room (at an small additional charge) or at the standing stones restaurant. There is no complimentary tea time offered which also was a bit strange for a 5* hotel. And there was a mix up with my VIP membership and its benefits. Overall, I enjoyed staying here.

The resort looked absolutely stunning and clean. We had a pleasant stay. We came late in the night and the staff received us well and enquired before hand on arrival timing which shows how well prepared they are. The highlight of the room is the big pool. We stayed at multiple villas and I must say this is our most favourite due to pool size, cleanliness and overall interiors of the resort. The breakfast options were good and we enjoyed the view we had at the restaurant. Overall fantastic stay and would definitely visit again when at Bali.

Had a really good time at this resort, it located on the outskirts a little away from the city so it's quiet and serene, that's the best part. The resorts ambience is amazing, they have private pool villas, A restaurant inside the resort. I highly recommend.

Extremely nice staff, the office manger Laksmi was outstanding. This hotel is customer centric, even the general manager Mr Berry takes care of everything and customer confort, what is really nice about this hotel, everything is customer is centric. We came to Bali after a period of heavy rain, they were some trouble about the room but the staff was extremely reactive that everything was fixed very quickly. I strongly recommend The Royal Purnama

Really lovely quiet place to stay in Bali. The villa with the private pool meant we could just relax all day. As the bathroom is open to the outdoor pool we felt like we were actually in a rainforest at night! The spa and restaurant were amazing. The staff were very kind and their service exceptional.

Overall it was a good hotel to stay in, however I found that the food has not been all that great, as I also got some kind of Food Poisoning from eating dinner.
