Great stay

Property needs serious up grade , been worn out for years. Freshly slapped on paint covers a lot. Was cleaned well, but cooker was bad inside, plumbing is very old , campsites have better facilities

An older style motel that was very comfortable & provided good value for an overnight, stay not far from the airport. Very friendly staff.

Very nice room with separate kitchen. Very clean and spacious with comfy beds. Fast wifi and parking right outside our door. And when we asked about laundry facilities the manager offered to have our laundry done for NZ$10. Washed and dried in 2 hours. what great service. Defiantly good value lodgings for the money.

Good

Room was ample size and had large kitchen are. Bathroom was very dated and shower didn’t work properly. The property could definitely do with some updates but for the price it was good.

Property requires maintenance (holes in doors gardens require maintenance-facility is dated)

Was an OK room. However, we did not get any flannels and milk. The body wash container was empty and they had put water in the hand soap, obviously to stretch it out, but made it to be scented water basically.

Good price and not too far from town and Riccarton mall. Easy to check in and out.

It was very run down, but cheap, so you get what you pay for which is fair.

It is handy to head south from the city. We had a unit at the back and it was very quiet - very much appreciated. We could also have our two small quiet dogs there and being at the back meant it was very safe for them too.

It was cool to have a place that allowed our dog without charging the world.

Courteous host

So first off it should be noted that I sought out the cheapest room within easy reach of my desired location, and you get what you pay for right? I found the manager to be helpfully flexible when the airlines cancelled my original flight due to weather and made me a day late. Unfortunately, because of the change they were unable to accommodate me for the full length of my stay and I was forced to seek an alternative for my final night. This is mostly due to all of Christchurch's more affordable accommodation options being near capacity with government funded welfare beneficiaries and "emergency" housing beneficiaries. The motel is on one of the area's busiest streets and is also just across the road from Christchurch's train switching yard. So between the incessant throbbing of train engines, and the roar of trucks and local lead-footed drivers the room is far from quiet. I was in a room closer to the street and the motel did have some rooms that were set back quite a ways so maybe they are quieter. The room was threadbare, the settee cushions split, the bed mattress had well worn hollows from many previous patrons, although the sheets and towels seemed clean. The shower lining was coming off in places. Everything was dated and worn. Once bitten, twice shy.

The unit was very comfortable but sadly not as clean as we would have liked eg. Mould around all the aluminium joinery, mouldy dirty shower and although the toilet had a ‘clean wrapper’ on it, it wasn’t clean 🙁

Satisfactory stay

We have stayed annually for almost 10 years and it has always been basic, but clean and tidy. This year it is just basic. Not enough towels, milk in fridge was so off as to be cottage cheese consistency, mirrors smeared, microwave door so marked with greasy fingermarks that i didn't want to touch it, only 1 drinking glass, terribly haphazard room servicing, an empty room fragrance diffuser and face cloths that had definitely seen better days... this list goes on. We couldn't even address any issues because the manager? Owner? Was only available 9-5 and we were away early in the morning and back late each day. Look, it was relatively quiet amd just about clean enough and we weren't looking for 5 star anything. We have always known we got decent but basic-style accommodation here. But this time was bad enough that we will.look.elsewhere for our annual accommodation next year. So many little things that are easy to fix.

After a long drive, I arrived at the hotel 11.00pm and park my. Car in No. 2 bay. I then went to the reception and was close. Check my email and Expedia left me a message informing me that I can just go to the room No. 2 what a relief. Thanks to the management and staff of Classique Motel. Thank you.
