Good overall. The welcome could have been a bit more engaging and although the website said no parking I would think twice about booking again as it rained a lot and was a walk to a car park

A nice place, although access to room was odd as you had to go outside and up what seemed like a fire escape stairs. Weather was awful, so we got wet. Not sure why we couldn’t access rooms through the pub as our room was clearly above the pub .
Very comfortable bed, good shower. Great breakfast , shame only one member of staff on duty for all guests. No seating room inside pub to have a drink but covered garden was lovely with heaters and blankets, very warm and cozy.
Staff on arrival were indifferent and no staff around as we left.

As with other reviews parking is bad.

We thought that it offered excellent value for money. The room itself was basic but had everything we required just needed to be updated and refreshed. Bedding was clean and the bed was comfortable. We have to said the food and level of service was amazing. We arrived on the Sunday and booked in for their Sunday lunch. We had the beef brisket which just fell apart and could not wait to try the breakfast which was included with the booking and have to say it did not disappoint. We would definitely stay again

Lovely hotel for our trip & historical tour of Bury St. Edmunds. Fantastic breakfast, friendly & hard working staff, clean & comfortable room :)

Great room, very clean, excellent facilities and very quiet. Beer that is brewed on site is amazing and breakfast is perfect. Why would you stay anywhere else when staying in Bury St Edmunds?

Great nights stay with fantastic food and beer. Welcoming host and a friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

One night stay: breakfast included. Had a very tasty meal in the pub below. The room was very nice with a comfy bed, albeit the access was via fairly steep outside stairs. The room was a little noisy until closing time as a beer event was on, however once 'closing time' arrived, all noice ceased and we slept very well. We enjoyed our short stay.

A good property. About 7 minute walk from the railway station and the same distance to market area. I would stay there again.

Celebrated my daughter’s wedding there and booked rooms. The rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Great stay. Lovely pub, great food . Had the potato skins for a snack, delicious.
Breakfast was possibly best I’ve had, had the “veggi” full and every component was perfect. Great beer at good prices. Lovely courtyard.,

All staff were friendly and anxious to make sure guests have a good stay. Our room was fairly plain but very clean and functional. Coffee machine in the room was a surprise plus point. Beer, brewed on site, is good and well priced in the bar. Breakfasts are above average. Location is quiet and close to the town centre.Only drawback was lack of parking on site particularly as street parking in the immediate area can be very difficult, but this would not stop us returning. We are happy to recommend The Old Cannon Brewery Hotel.

Based in a working micro brewery a very different place. Friendly and welcoming and no sticky tables!
We stayed there on a hot day and the bedroom was extremely hot at night. Tap was loose in the sink.

Nice room, not a great approach to the room.

Really nice place. Room was very comfortable, not flash, but perfect for our needs with a good en-suite. Breakfast was great and the bar and outside courtyard area were very pleasant to have a drink and spend time. Would recommend.

10 mins walk from town centre

We were newcomers to Bury St Edmunds & chose The Old Cannon Brewery hotel as it was very close to the town centre or so we thought. Although with good mobility it shouldn't take more than 7mins into town it was still further away than we expected. Another issue was parking as there was only free parking outside the hotel from 4pm-10am. We were aware of this before we arrived however the nearest carpark was nearly 10mins walk away. Not a problem if you have good mobility but we would have chosen a hotel with free parking had we known. All that aside, we had a good room, not large but well equipped, clean & a comfortable bed. We ate on the 2 nights & the food was good & the staff very helpful. The pub has a good atmosphere, good beer & overall was adequate for our needs.

2nd time here, really is too good to be true, brews on beer, lovely outside space and the breakfast is amazing.

Great staff lovely breakfast but noisy until the pub closes but really quiet after that until staff arrive at 7ish to start breakfast.Location is good only a very short walk to town centre.Parking can be a real issue no blue badge spaces nearby on street parking but very busy when we were there & had to park a few streets away.On street parking is limited to 1-2 hours between 10am-6pm Mon-Sat so a bit of an issue for us.As my husband is disabled staff did offer for us to open the courtyard gates ourselves & park in there if we were struggling but we didn't want to wake up other guests when we returned from a local wedding as they are heavy & noisy & right under the guest rooms.

There was everything we needed in our room and was the perfect location for our evening out in Bury st edmunds, walkable short distance.
Breakfast was lovely. I will be staying here again. Lovely welcome from the owner.

Comfortable room which was a good size. It was clear that they had also thought through the finishing touches - a small coffee machine and also a good selection of tea/coffee/hot chocolate; good quality toiletries in the shower room. Breakfast was generous and delicious! Also, to note, there is a restaurant on site but you are close enough to the town centre to venture further afield if you so wish.

Lovely pub great staff good breakfast the let down was the room ! We booked a superior king size and got a standard double! Shame led to a very poor nights sleep and left early

Loved the cosy feel of the room. Lovely restaurant/bar area. Food very good. Staff service really good. Only issue was the parking absolutely no parking at all. Although staff really helpful with finding a car park because of rain the walk was a little far. Was a shame as only slight negative.

Stayed a few times before and like the place. Noticed this time things were starting to slip a little. My room wasn’t restocked or looked at on my last night and to begin with the room was less clean with dust on walls settling and a few areas needing attention. Always great food and atmosphere in the pub and enjoy the feel of the place.

Great location, nice breakfast, comfy bed only let down by drunk people on noisy floorboards in rooms above waking us up at 2am…

Very good hospitality. Food (& beer) excellent.
Comfortable room and good location for the train station & town.

Very friendly and easy check-in although, this is in the bar so may not suit everyone. The room was spotlessly clean but a little cold (only one small radiator for a large room. The menu and real ale were both excellent. Unfortunately, the noise from outside when the pub emptied, very early morning deliveries and every room operating a coffee pod machine (like Nespresso) was quite remarkable! The real downside is that parking is non-existent (this is mentioned on the site) and I parked some 15 mins walk away which was quite safe.

Room was a good size & well appointed.
Bar / resturant area was busy with good selection of drinks as yiu would expect with a micro brewery.
Slightly tired decor, paintwork & wood floor could do with a refresh, but having said that we enjoyed our stay abd would book again.

Excellent beer and food.
Plumbing could be better in the ensuite shower/ toilet. Very noisy.
