We had a lovely holiday in Barbados and the house was fantastic. Heather’s communication was great before and on arrival, and their house manager was on hand to greet us on arrival. The location was as described and an easy walk to the beach, even with a toddler and an under 1 in a buggy! Access to the Fairmont Beach Club was a real bonus and made accessing and using the beach really easy (beaches are public in Barbados, but they’re not always that accessible / have facilities etc, so if you’re travelling with children or want to avoid any hassle, it’s a real bonus). We dined at a lot of the local restaurants which we could walk to or it’s an easy drive. The house itself was really nice: clean, well equipped and the complex was safe and secure. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!

This home was perfect for the 4 of us! It is a 10 minute walk to the beautiful beach where we spent most of our days. Heather provided a lot of great information to help us with places to eat and visit. If we can make it back to Barbados, we would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful villa on the West coast of Barbados...... great location, quiet, clean, comfortable beds and really everything you need for a home away from home on holiday ! The outside space is lovely and private for relaxing in and a great area for outdoor dining. We would definitely stay there again !

4 Porters Gate was exactly as described, very comfortable to enable us to start relaxing the minute we walked through the door. Great tips from Heather and Mark about beautiful beaches, reliable car rental and about restaurants from the high end to the local white trucks, where we kept going back each day after diving! We are reluctant to write a good review for this property as it will only encourage others to book this wonderful rental! However, we can only say this was quite the most fabulous place to stay for our holiday of 16 nights on the West Coast in Barbados. The villa was perfectly located, just 10 minutes' walk north of Holetown where we were able to buy all essentials, with plenty of designer shopping and eateries. Speightstown, about 10 minutes north in the car or on the bus, had a more authentic Bajan atmosphere. The villa itself was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and was so much bigger than it looked in the photos. There were air conditioning units and fans in every room to keep us cool. We found the kitchen was fully equipped with all mod cons plus there was a large fridge/freezer with ice and water on tap! We chose to use the BBQ griddle situated on the patio mostly for cooking fresh fish and spent much of our holiday relaxing in the outdoor space, with its dining table, settees or sunbeds - we didn't eat inside once as the outdoor area was just so tranquil. The plunge pool was just a perfect size - again it was bigger than expected and you could stretch out quite easily so no need to use the communal swimming pool. In addition, there was so much wildlife in the garden to enjoy, tiny lizards, hummingbirds that frequented daily and even a fruit bat flew in one evening! The bedrooms and bathrooms, all were a great size, perfectly decorated and furnished with everything you would need to feel totally at home. We made use of the free beach passes to Royal Fairmont Hotel and Heron Bay beach was also just another short walk away perfect places to watch the sunsets. We hired a car so we could visit all the provinces, visiting lots of sights. We kayaked from Speightstown up the North West Cost and snorkelled with the turtles in Carlisle Bay, south of the Island - both brilliant excursions. No need to hire a car though as the yellow buses that whizz around the island are plentiful and just $3 BDollars. Eating out on the West Coast was expensive but, travel further afield, north or to the South or East Coast the prices are more reasonable. The hosts, Heather and Mark, were brilliant for communicating details to us and making recommendations. They also left us a bottle of fizz with a welcome card on our arrival which was lovely. Wonderful villa, wonderful hosts, wonderful location. We will return!

Four of us were to spend 12 nights at 4 Porters Gate, a surprise birthday present for my husband, David. This was to be our second visit to the island. We had very much enjoyed our first but this time wanted accommodation with plenty of covered, outside space and a property located away from the main road, the H1, that runs along the west coast. 4PG offered both and plenty more besides..... and it did not disappoint! We booked at the beginning of 2018. From booking, to arriving and during our stay, communication between Heather, the owner, and my sister-in-law was excellent. Taxi transfer from the airport was arranged by Heather. Ryan our driver collected us, with a much appreciated supermarket stop enroute to the house. Paulette warmly welcomed us to 4PG and showed us around. Everything was perfect. It is a beautiful house, stylishly furnished with a relaxed vibe and very well equipped. Porters Gate itself is a very well tended gated community, which became apparent during our stay - thank you all who worked tirelessly to keep it so. We had two changes of bed linen and towels and a general spruce up during our stay, thank you to Paulette and Kimberley. Well, we simply had the best time! We hired a car through Stoutes, as recommended by Heather, great service. We travelled all over the island. Special mention to Catch 22, Sunset Point, St Lucy, just lovely - and yes, David, we did see a whale! Lone Star, lunch and dinner, delicious, sundowners on the veranda a must. The frequented Fairmont Beach Club, a bonus. Sunloungers, umbrellas and lots of pina coladas (virgin, of course!). You can hire water sports equipment here. Take out a hobie with instructor Keilu, one cool dude, recommended. And lastly to the house, it gave everything we could have wanted and more. Eating outside in the evening, relaxing in shady areas during the day, cooling down in the plunge pool at any time. Comfortable, cool bedrooms. Would we visit again? A resounding yes from us all. In fact plans are already afoot for a a return visit but I’m not going to tell you when just in case you are tempted to book the dates for yourself! Lorna & David and Jennie & Vernon

We absolutely loved our stay at this villa. Everything from its location, the layout and the decor was fabulous and it was so clean and well equipped. Heather was so helpful on the run up to our visit; thinking of everything from airport pick ups, the first grocery shop, tips on medical facilities in Holetown to mention a few! I would definietely recommend this villa for anyone planning a trip to the Gold coast. The beach club was a brilliant thing to have included so we could access the sunbeds in a nearby beach, and there were a number of quality restaurants and bars within a short walk (Lone Star, Ju Jus and Seacat to mention a few). Then a walk into the heart of Holetown was only 20mins where the bars and shops and restaurants are plentiful! Overall we had such a great trip and our Cool Runnings catamaran lunch cruise was so much fun and a drive up to Animal Flower cave was another highlight. Thanks again to Heather and the team for a superb service from beginning to end!!

This will be our 3rd time staying at this wonderful home in Barbados. We just love it there. The comfort, the convenience, and of course the familiarity with the home and the area. This time Heather has kindly given guests access to the Fairmont Beach Club. Just a short 6-7 min walk from the house, you can go and relax on the beach and enjoy the amenities. We did this most days as well as go diving, rent a Hobie Wave and go sailing, go on the most awesome catamaran trip and in general have a wonderful time. Cant wait to return.

What a gem of a find! We love Holetown and always aim to stay in the area and prefer to self cater. The moment we booked this villa on HomeAway and we got the lovely welcome message from Heather the owner I knew we had made the right decision. We are a family of 3 and the villa was perfectly situated for all our favourite spots yet set back from the main road so it was peaceful, homely and relaxing. The villa itself is spacious, well-maintained and very well equipped - particularly the kitchen and the thoughtful provision of beach towels, which helps when packing! We enjoyed using the communal pool and tennis courts and I couldn’t get my daughter out of the dip pool in the back garden! The managing agent who met us on arrival was welcoming and knowledgable and very responsive when we had an issue with the satellite TV after a power cut. We even met some of the friendly neighbours, such a wonderful community feel. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, it is all you can ask for in a self catering rental, truly a home from home. We only wish we could afford one of our own!

If you are searching through the hundreds of properties in Barbados and you come across 4 Porters Gate then do not hesitate to book. The description of this house is absolutely correct, from location to content. From the minute we booked I felt this was the right choice. Every correspondence with Heather made me feel even more convinced that we had chosen the right place. The house is very well cared for with absolutely everything you would need to self cater. The outside space is a tranquil haven, the furniture is comfortable as are the beds which are complete with very good quality linen. The en-suites all have fantastic showers with towels you would be delighted with in your own home never mind a holiday rental. Its safe, secure, private and very central. We were welcomed by Kerrie the property manager who had the house staged like something from Homes and Gardens and to be honest after a long flight the sight of candles burning around the plunge pool and a welcome bottle of Fizz awaiting was exactly what your tired eyes needed. We had a fantastic first time in Barbados made extra special by the quality and location of our accommodation. Thank you once again Heather for taking care of all our needs and going the extra mile. This villa will meet all your expectations. To make the most of the lovely warm climate we lived outdoors using the BBQ, dining table and sofa chairs. The plunge pool is perfect for cooling down after using the sun loungers or walking back from the gorgeous beach. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery & utensils. Bedrooms & en suites are clean and spacious with good quality sheets and towels together with comfortable pillows and beds. An added bonus - beach towels are provided too, so less to pack. TV and WIFI excellent. I have already recommended this villa to other travellers having stayed here in February for the last four years. There is a good choice of restaurants nearby as well as good shopping in Holetown and Speightstown. An easy drive will take you to some lovely attractions especially on the east coast. Finally Heather & Mark the owners and Kerri the villa agent are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable that they will only enhance your holiday experience both in No. 4 and Barbados.

We were so thrilled when we arrived - the gated village contains beautiful houses and No 4 didn’t disappoint. An end property, with immaculate and beautiful gardens surrounding , and set in a very peaceful location. Once inside, the wow factor took over. Stylish decor and furnishings, so much space, we couldn’t wait to explore. Home from home (I wish) there is nothing you needed extra. Nothing. I’m a cook, and I couldn’t fault the kitchen and it’s contents! The spacious bedrooms with large en suites, plus balcony, air conditioning, closets, drawers and extremely comfortable bed meant excellent chance of being well rested. The outdoor eating area and lounge area were in constant use, and it was so great to be able to do this. There’s an electric BBQ grill too. The plunge pool was most appreciated in the lovely hot weather. For a swim, head to the larger pool, along with loungers etc. 6 minutes further, bathe in the crystal clear turquoise Caribbean Sea! All in all, you’ve found a gem when you visit No 4 Porters Gate - we just can’t wait to go back.

This was probably the best advertised rental we have experienced so far after many villa rentals. We arrived and where greeted by our driver Ryan at the airport, that Heather arranged and he took us to the supermarket on the way to the property to get some essentials. We arrived at the property and we where greeted by Diana the property manager who showed us everything we needed to know. The next morning we had our rental car delivered as promised by Stouttes Rental cars, again setup by Heather. The townhouse is everything as described and more with everything you could need, clean, comfortable, safe and private. Highly recommended!

Just stayed 12 days with my family in Mark and Heather's beautiful bajan home. Heather arranged for Ryan to meet us at the airport and he very kindly took us grocery shopping before taking us to the villa. We were very pleased upon arriving to the villa. It is beautifully decorated and the kitchen was well equipped with anything you would want. The beds were very comfortable and each of the bedrooms were tastefully decorated with white linens. Our favourite place in the villa was the outdoor terrace and plunge pool. After a day of touring around the island, we loved to come back to the outdoor living area for a cool drink and a soak in the plunge pool. The larger community pool was very close to the villa and it felt like it was our own private pool as we were often the only ones in the pool. We rented a car for several days to explore the island. It was very easy to arrange and the car was delivered to the villa. But if you didn't want to drive, the bus stop was a short walk from the villa. The buses come quite frequently and a " must to try" at least once!! We rode the buses everyday. Heather and her management team were fantastic to deal with and replied to our enquiries very quickly. I would highly recommend Heather and Mark's villa if you are looking for a home away from home ,while vacationing in Barbados. Thanks again Heather. Mary Anne and David

We have just returned from Heather and Mark's home, having spent a wonderful time there with our 2 older children. The villa was perfect for our needs, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. For us, the best part was the outdoor space, where we spent most of our time. The beds were comfortable, with immaculate white bedding and beautifully fitted en-suite bathrooms. There were large wardrobes in both bedrooms with plenty of hangers and storage. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed and even toilet paper, kitchen paper, dishwasher tabs and cleaning products were included, which is very unusual. I was also very impressed that even though we only stayed for 12 days, the house was cleaned and towels and beds changed twice. We were extremely well looked after by the Concierge service who met us on arrival and when departing. Diana was at the end of the phone at any time should we need her and the same for Heather, who was very helpful. The villa's location is excellent, with frequent buses running from the end of the road into Holetown, Bridgetown and Speightstown. We also hired a car for a few days to go further afield. We would not hesitate in recommending this holiday property to anyone. It is extremely well managed, and represents excellent value for money. Thank you Heather and Mark

Heather and Marks lovely Bajan house is truly a home from home. Booked easily and everything from asking Heather to book my family a taxi to meet us at the airport to Raphael meeting us at the house to greet us and answer any questions we had was efficient and well organised. It's a beautiful and comfortable home with attention to detail built in. The beach towels are brill, Ive already bought some for my own home. The outside area is lovely and a cold beer sitting in the sofas after a difficult day on the beach ;) is heavenly. Everything from the big well appointed kitchen to the beautiful bathrooms made our holiday. It's a great location to visit the West coast beaches and also to explore the beaches on the south of the island, the Tiki Bar on Accra beach is great, you gotta love 'Tiki Dollars'!! Have just returned from 2 weeks in this beautiful home. There was absolutely nothing lacking. From the moment we arrived and were met by the house manager Raphael who showed us everything we needed to know about the house, we knew that we were going to have a great 2 weeks and we weren't disappointed. A beautiful garden, with a frequent visit from some very friendly, and brave, birds. The first day we spent exploring the beaches were in walking distance. The nearest was down the Queens Fort drive just across from Mango Drive. Keep walking down the drive and follow it round to the right. Once you hit the sand turn right and up and over the steps. Beautiful swimming area in front of Glitter Bay. Watch the tide times tho as the steps do become slightly inaccessible at high tide. Reeds Beach (recommended by Heather and Mark) was another beautiful beach although the waves were HUGE one day we went so getting in and out the sea was tricky. These were freak waves I'm sure as other days they were gently lapping up, typical of west coast. Lone Star breakfast is HIGHLY recommended as is the gourmet buffet at Fairmont on a Tuesday night. Although we had a car this time for 2 weeks the location is so ideal that you could easily do without a car. Reggae buses and a pleasant walk to/from Holetown along the beach would make getting provisions easy enough. If you do have a car then Cost U Less near Warrens was the best value for supermarkets. I've already been looking at returning next year as this is the best house yet. We've stayed in 3 in the area. Thanks Heather and Mark for opening your home for us to enjoy.

This is the coolest house we have stayed in. The furnishings and layout are just beautiful and the location could not be better. The house is equipped with everything you need for a luxurious vacation, the outdoor living space is just gorgeous, the tropical garden with its private plunge pool was just perfect. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfortable, walk in shower was a dream. Heather made the whole process so simple, nothing was too much trouble, her advise and recommendations were spot on, which made the whole experience seamless. She made reservations for us and arranged airport pick up and drop off, we literally did not have to think of a thing, which was her brief. Favourite beach-Heron bay. We spent an amazing two weeks at this gem of a home in the perfect location on the West Coast. We were met by the Property Manager who greeted us and explained everything we needed to know about the home and the surrounding area. We hired a car for part of our stay, but everything is within easy walking distance, or the bus stop is at the end of the road. We walked to the beautiful local beach at Heron Bay, the water is amazing, walked into Holetown in the evenings, the choice of restaurants and bars is incredible. Our favourites were Opa, Lemongrass and Limebar all in the Limegrove centre, which also has the most amazing shops. We found a fabulous Tapas restaurant in the Chattel village in Holetown called Cariba. For a special occasion we visited Tides, which was outstanding and Daphnes, Paynes Bay, our favourite spot for a sundowner. Our favourite restaurant was Lonestar, by far, a fifteen minute stroll along the coast road, a definite must. This home is perfect for chilling, it is equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need and the evenings we spent, cooking fresh fish on the BBQ and eating on the terrace were some of our favourite memories. Beautifullly decorated and tastefullly furnished, we would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone visiting Barbados.

We were so lucky to have found this gem. Located just a short walk from the local sandy beach where we snorkelled in the beautifully warm water and swam amongst the friendly turtles. Once we had found the local fresh fish shop, we enjoyed many evenings sitting on the terrace, by the pool with the barbeque going and glass of wine, perfect relaxation, highly recommended! The owners certainly have an eye for detail and clearly care about customer experience. Everything we needed was to hand and beautifully presented. Each room had its own character and individuality which when added to the luxurious level of quality and comfort made it a wonderful holiday. Rachel, the property manager was warm and engaging and nothing was too much trouble. All in all we had the most fabulous time and I would like to say a big “THANK YOU” to Heather and Rachael for making it work so well. We will be coming back very soon.

When booking this home for my family holiday I was nervous as hadn't visited Barbados before. Heather was incredibly helpful and did not hesitate to give lots of advice and take the time to recommend different restaurants, beaches etc. As well as the country being a must see the property was faultless. Gorgeous anterior and a welcoming home, can only gloat about the accommodation. The layout was perfect with the added bonus to have private bathroom in each room, both very spacious. The property was clean and the choices of decor was very chic with a modern touch. I would recommend this property to anybody, the layout suits families and couples alike. The kids loved the tennis courts and was a nice touch to keep the children busy whilst I was able to cook in the kitchen, the pool is of a good reasonable size and we also took advantage of the George Foreman BBQ. Great holiday and a massive thank you to Heather for all her help.

Three adults in our group enjoyed a marvellous 3 weeks in this excellent "home away from home". Everything about this property tells of loving attention to detail by the owners. Everyone involved in the running of the home and garden could not have been more efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much for Rachel the property manager to cope with. The owners were always easily contacted and made us feel very welcome. A place to relax immediately, somewhere for an instant connection to the sun, sea and sand relaxed mind set. We could not have been more pleased with our time and hope to return soon.

This is a lovely property providing plenty of indoor and outdoor space, close to amenities and the excellent restaurants on the west coast of the island. Can't say we wanted for anything within the property over our stay, everything was catered for - very well equipped. The garden is really lovely with plenty of shade and a nice plunge pool. Property manager and all staff that visited during our stay were great. Local beach just a short walk away, and when not too hot, an easy walk into Holetown with all it has to offer. We had a wonderful holiday at this beautiful property. The villa is very clean and tidy and is well managed and maintained very well. Pretty much everything has been thought about - picnicware etc. Ideal location for local beaches. The plunge pool is very refreshing. The owner is very cusomer focused and very pleasant and helpful. any queries prior to departure from the UK were addressed and responded to promptly. The property listing was accurate. We thoroughly enjoyed using the local transport, particularly the reggae buses.
