We arrived late but the staff helped us find food late at night and the check in was simple and parking easy to find

Staff were very welcoming and food service nearly perfect. Bedroom accommodation was adequate for my one night stay. It proved the ideal venue for a family reunion.

Business trip and accommodation suited my needs perfectly. Room was functionj and spacious with all the amenities you would expect. Restaurant was ok and food was decent but watch for the service charges.

Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The room was very clean and well thought out. Only downside is TV didn't have picture, only sound and shower didn't drain well

Clean bedding and well kept rooms ,breakfast was very nice .helpful staff.bathroom a bit cramped but i would reccomend this place .central and good choice of food .

Convenient to Stansted

We liked the plastic duck on the side of the bath which greeted us!! Also the DAB Radio which hotels never have. Both unique to us! Despite being quite small, the bathroom is very well designed. We thought the fitments in the room were very practical with plenty of wardrobe space and sensible size bedside tables. The menu choice was good for us and despite a long wait our meals were excellent - liver and bacon and sea bass. The next morning there was an extremely long wait for coffee and then for our cooked breakfast, but we had been warned that it would be busy due to some wedding guests staying. However, our breakfast was excellent and well worth the wait. On checking out we learnt from the manager that the regular chef was injured with a trapped nerve in his arm, and the agency chef had never cooked breakfast ‘to order’ before, so well done to him/her. We will definitely stay again. If we had been staying longer we would have made use of the courtyard seating area - very nicely done.

Good location for business trip. Would try an avoid single room as a bit pokey.

This is the 3rd time staying and yet again it was great, no matter the number of nights you need to stay you will not be disappointed. The rooms are spot on with all you need,the bar is great & food very nice. To top it off the staff are all fantastic and make the stay. Will 100% be using again in the future.

Restaurant service was ponderously slow. We cancelled our desert order after waiting 25 minutes after our main course which took 40 minutes to arrive

Seven of us - two married couples and three solo individuals - stayed here while attending a function at Felsted School. We met at the hotel in the afternoon, some of us strangers to one another but others old friends; we met again at the hotel around 9pm for drinks, staying up till 1230am. In the morning, we all met again for an 0815 breakfast. The hotel helped the happy mood to keep becoming happier.

Kay is really lovely and couldn't do enough to help with our little 4 month old. Lovely place to stay.

Convenient late check-in. Nice room, excellent breakfast with friendly staff. My only 'complaint' was not with the hotel but the exhorbitant cost of the taxi from the airport. The staff told me about the local bus in the morning as it was impossible to get a taxi or uber.

Nice stay

All in al an ok stay. Major issues: Drunk co-residents kept us awake until 3am (shouting, swearing, arguing etc). Breakfast was ok but insufficient staff to ensure all products were replenished. That said, the staff who were working were really trying hard - well done..

Hotel good but bed and pillows firm, bathroom very compact.

Overall satisfactory. However the dining room was cold and people were wearing coats.

Not a lot of variety on menu although what we did have was well cooked Stay was let down by menu

Staff .. fantastic Food .. fantastic Room .. fantastic First time I’ve stayed here and I’ve got to say it was surprisingly brilliant. The room spotlessly clean, with fresh towels everyday. It was a pleasure staying here and I’d definitely stay again .. parking at rear plenty of space ..

We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade on arrival to a suite, which was a lovely, spacious room - very nice! However breakfast wasn’t great - only one member of staff doing her very best to seat guests, take orders, serve and clear tables….really not fair on her. First attempt at coffee failed…..it wouldn’t pour from the cafetière as way too many coffee grounds used! The scrambled egg with the Full English was floating in liquid and was inedible….disappointing. Pastries on the buffet were undercooked. Food quality needs to improve!

The rooms have had a nice refurb and the staff are always professional and polite. Kay and George do an excellent job with rest of the team. Tasty breakfast menu too.

Beautiful old building with lots of character. Room was spacious and welcoming. Staff were friendly, personable and accommodating. Food was excellent.

Great hotel, great staff

While a very friendly team, the room (junior suite) was shockingly bad and nothing like the photos. Despite calling early in the day to request heating be on, the room was freezing cold and the old radiators just were not enough so the room stayed freezing. The room was above an extremely noisy bar which to a certain extent is understandable but also next door to a function room meaning sleep was impossible and do did not stay the night and left that night. Main gripe is the room is nothing like advertised, freezing cold and reception was unable to change room due to being at capacity

Excellent hotel

It is an old English hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are nice and clean. The food is super good and the service top notch. There is not the last time I visit this hotel.

Extremely friendly staff from start to finish. The whole village is full of friendly people as far as we could see! We would definitely go back.
