This is a delightful hotel with a quiet, old-world charm. The staff are remarkably friendly and helpful and the hotel is right in the centre of town. A beautifully prepared breakfast is served in a very elegant dining room with linen table-cloths and silverware (so many hotels--even 4 star--have merely functional breakfast rooms). Exceptional value for money with none of the chill anonymity of a big, chain hotel.

We arrived at 1:00 and they were determined not to let us check in until 3:00, first hotel not to let us check in early. Breakfast made up for it, one of the best we have experienced in Europe. Parking garage hard to locate, needed help. Receptionist were great.

Nice clean, centrally located (it's in the name!) Hotel. Friendly staff, and great breakfast! Parking is really limited, but there's plenty of pay parking nearby (nothing free in the city center).

The Central Hotel was perfect for a weekend trip to Freiburg. The location is great for spending time in the Old City and a quick walk from the train station. The hotel is very nice for the cost, and the staff provided a take-away breakfast when I had to leave before the actual breakfast time. My only suggestion is to provide coffee in the room in addition to tea. Otherwise my stay was great!

Hotel centrally located in beautiful Freiburg. Room is clean and spacious. Bathroom was huge and super clean. Amazing breakfast with cold and hot items. I will definitely return to Central Hotel on my next visit to Freiburg.

We were a group of five visiting Freiburg to celebrate 65 years and all it entails. The hotel was outstanding. Service throughout the hotel - reception, breakfast, room, bar, night staff - was of a similar, welcoming, helpful, interested and equal quality across all areas; first class. The rooms were well appointed, clean and impeccably maintained. Breakfast was both copious and delicious; a wide range that more than catered for all tastes. You'll not leave hungry. The hotel is ideally located close to both Munsterplatz, team transport and the downtown shopping area. I would highly recommend this hotel as a 'must for if visiting Freiburg.

Very friendly staff, large room and good breakfast

The staff at the hotel were so welcoming which really makes you want to stay there. The room was great and the breakfast provided was also awesome. Overall, this is definitely an affordable place that will not make you unhappy.

Overnight stay on way back to eastern Switzerland. Sat Nav failed to get us to the hotel but once we got there lucky to get a very convenient parking spot. Friendly and helpful check in. Room bijou with a cozy shower room- dated but generally clean decor. Location is the big selling point - minutes walk from everywhere within the ‘old town’ - which is great to walk around with interesting looking independent shops, and cafes (why so many shoe shops??) Hotel is very central so weekend, late night noises could be heard as early morning revellers return home... Breakfast was impressive array of continental fare.

Located in a very good place in Freiburg, close to shops restaurants and ~7 minutes walk to the train station. Hotel stuff were very helpful and nice. The breakfast tasted good, many options to choose from. The hotel has 4 floors and the elevator reaches only to the 3rd floor. To get to the 4th floor you need to climb the stairs (it wasn't a problem for us). The rooms on the 4th are very quiet and big with comfortable beds, they have only one small window. we enjoyed very much from our stay there

Outstanding boutique hotel. Should be rated 5 stars. Breakfast buffet was elaborate and delicious. Tables are set with beatiful dishes and silver accessories. Delightfû atmosphere throughout. Very well located close to center of old town and 10 minute walk from train station. Highly recommend.

I had a one night stay at this hotel, and it was an excellent experience. The staff was super helpful and accomodating. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the breakfast delicious. It is within easy walking distance to all the attractions.

I stayed in this hotel while at a short conference and this seemed to be one of the recommended hotels. There is much to recommend it, the location which is quite close to the rail and coach station and the old centre of Freiburg. The staff are quite friendly and accommodating. Two things let it down slightly. The room option said free wi-fi, but this worked very poorly, with the signal dropping every 5 minutes, requiring a reconnection. The other thing was the quality of the beds which while comfortable, were basic. Neither was a major issue as I was there for a relatively short time but a good working Wi-fi is essential, even if I have to pay extra for it. All in all, for the price, it was quite good value for money.

There was un-needed confusion during check-in. We had a booking for two rooms for 4 people. I wanted my own room so I booked a 3rd room. For some reason the guy checking in us got confused and thought there were more people... Really it's simple that 3 rooms were booked for 4 people... It took 5 minutes to get this simple point across which at night time when we were tired was not great. Other than that the hotel was relatively clean. The waiter at breakfast was very attentive and provided great service, kudos to him. Check out was smooth.

This hotel is remarkable in the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff who went out of their way to make us comfortable. They even made extra meals out of mealtime just to help us with our small child. Additionally the hotel is very well placed on the edge of the old town near the gardens, station and main church square. Really, it couldnt have been better.

I stayed here for four nights, and I can definitely recommend it. The hotel is in a very convenient location, being in the heart of the old town and close to the train station. It is slightly hidden as it is on a side-street, just off of a major shopping street. The hotel in general looks very pleasant, being well-maintained and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they spoke excellent English. Due to my schedule, I didn't try the breakfast, so I can't comment upon it. My room was comfortable and clean. It contained a TV, a kettle with a range of drinks (tea, coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate...), mini-bar, a small table with two chairs, an alarm clock, and a telephone. The bathroom was spotless and the shower worked well. Despite the hotel's central location, there was no problem with noise, either from outside or from other rooms. I suppose the only thing missing was a nice view from the window (instead of just looking out at the adjacent buildings).

Located in the centre of Freiberg the hotel is well placed for those wanting to see more of the city and also for those who want to travel the surrounding area. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the receptionists, and the breakfast provided was varied and very filling! The train and bus stations are ten minutes away making getting around the area very easy. The staff at the train station are especially helpful - most of them are multi-lingual and freely give advise on the cheapest, easiest and best ways to get about. We made good use of the Baden-Wurtzenberg ticket - 30 euros for up to five people travelling anywhere in the area for the entire day (this gets you to Basel and almost all the way to Strasbourg as well). Shopping within the city is good and there are plenty of restaurants (menus available in a number of languages practically everywhere) to choose from. Some of the museums may leave a bit to be desired however there are some good ones and are cheap enough to suffice for a rainy day. The whole area is extremely picturesque and there are plenty of sites to visit without spending to much time travelling.

This hotel has a very good location.The supermarket is just across the street,inside the mall.The train station is just 10 minutes walk away fr. the hotel. The room we stayed was clean. Breakfast every morning was very good.Nancy and Daniel were always ready to serve you coffee,tea, or chocolate.On the front desk, Telsie and Desiree were very helpful, and cheerful all the time.

This hotel is ideally situated, in the centre of Freibourg with its own parking garage. It is well staffed, well maintained and welcoming. It is rather old fashioned - there is no air con - and furniture is somewhat dated. But for a night or two it is good value in a delightful historic city centre. It is noisy - from 5 am there is outside noise from supermarket deliveries. Breakfast is at best adequate. But on balance its qualities outweigh its drawbacks - especially if you take ear plugs.
