Hotel was great, convenient for Basel (15 walk to riverfront) right next to Spalen Gate. Staff were great, we managed to get parking on site but few spaces available - charged my hybrid car for a low price. Lovely hotel

We booked the room for a brief Basel visit after a Rhine River cruise. Upon check in, they gave us a Basel Card for discounts all over the city including free public transportation. They took the time to tell us where to go and what to see. Very engaging and helpful staff. The room was very comfortable and had all the amenities. We enjoyed refreshments in the garden and then adventured out.

Great place and great location. Taxis r crazy expensive. Uber is better but Uber xl to airport was a ripoff.

Great location just outside the old city gate and next to the Botanical Gardens. Hotel staff were very friendly and we were also upgraded to a deluxe room! The breakfast was a delicious full hot breakfast.

I would always recommend staying at this hotel, the staff are excellent, looking forward to staying there again.

Hotel inside is super nice, clean, bed is very comfortable and staff is 10-stars! Location is great. Quiet and walking distance to many key sights and the Basel card is awesome with free access to public transportation. I would definitely recommend hotel Spalentor!

Simple, clean and functional. A bit far from the main attractions but spacious rooms and friendly staff, as well as free public transport & cheap Ubers make up for it.

The hotel was perfect for location, comfort, cleanliness, tasty breakfast, and above all the wonderful staff!! Great suggestion on delicious restaurants.

My wife and I booked a one night stay at the end of a cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. We arrived at the hotel at 10 AM and were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was available for us. The hotel clerk was most helpful, providing us with passes for the local bus and tram system and directions on how to get to the meeting point for our walking tour. When I asked about how to get a cab to the airport, she offered to book one for us but pointed out that the bus trip was free and simple (it was!) and the bus stop was 100 yards from our hotel door. The room was clean, spacious and very nicely appointed. The hotel has an in-house bar but no restaurant, and in-house food options are limited. This was a total non-issue, as it is located a short, pleasant walk from many shops and restaurants and we were able to get a good feel of the city in the one day we were there. It may have been a little bit pricier than some other hotel options but given its proximity to some picturesque areas and the convenience of transport to BSL airport, it more than makes up for any price savings. Worth a look if you're planning a stay in Basel.

We loved the flowers and the garden area, along with the botanical garden across the street. The rooms were very clean and large. Breakfast was always delicious.

Very convenient to the city gate

The Spalentor is our hotel of choice when staying in Basel. Everything is just simply as we like it. Friendly, helpful staff, clean, bright rooms, perfectly located. Looking forward to returning.

I liked being next to the old town and my son liked the pool table and Foosball table and bar.

What a great place! Nice and quiet location, but close to plenty of restaurants and an easy walk to the center city. The room was well appointed, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Perfect place. My room overlooked the famous SPALEN gate and entrance to old town.

This is a very nice hotel, the room is big, very clean. Our room has a window facing one of the old city Gate. In front of this hotel is a Bonacic Garden. The garden is very big. we are very happy to stay in this hotel. Next time if we visit Basel, we will stay here again.

This was an excellent place to stay in Basel. The facilities were wonderful and the service even better. Very close to Old Town and a tram stop. Great restaurants nearby, and the one recommended by staff was great! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay while in Basel at a good rate,
