Not good! Parking too far from the room. Room across the road! The key didn’t work 3 times. No breakfast and no where to have dinner.

Convenient for the airport. Wasn’t informed that the property was being refurbished and due to this there was no restaurant or bar and couldn’t even walk round the grounds which was out of bounds. No restaurant or pub near by to have our evening meal so had to get craving nearest town. Had we have known this we would not have booked a room.

Friendly greeting at check-in and offer to book taxi to airport straight away. Bed was extremely comfortable. Shower was powerful and hot. As others have stated it is on the flight path for Stansted with airplanes taking off over the hotel. I just had the TV on quietly and the planes didn't really bother me,as I'm used to a noisy house. If you like silence this may not be the hotel for you

Ive stayed many time before always a 4/ 5., But right now its going through change , so right now it a 3. Still very clean & the reception staff very good

Check in took more than 15 minutes, only 1 person working reception. I get they are undergoing refurbishment, and there are no catering facilities, but I think they could still off plates and cutlery so that you can get a takeaway in your room. Very expensive for the facilities offered.

The room was upgraded free of charge, and we really appreciated it. The place is quiet but having a restaurant for breakfast is something that was really missing, and I hope the refurbishment will be finished soon. There was a huge stain on the bed headboard, given the recent refurbishment I would have expected that also the furniture were new, however is a convenient place to stay if you’re staying in the area. Again one of the concern was the noise, having the place refurbished I would have expected more soundproofing measures implemented.

Great location for Stanstead Airport. Minutes away. Big car park so easy parking for large cars. Nicer than staying in the chain hotels. Large room. Easy drive to Bishop Stortford for eating out. Will stay again :)

We should have been informed that the property was in the middle of a refurbishment.

Lovely hotel very kept surroundings. Room was very nice,very clean room comfortable bed. Great for an airport stay. Planes go over every couple of minutes during flyjng time but it didnt bother us.

Again restaurant shut . Was given a very small too Room was not adequate for my needs and what I paid for had to argue with male on duty ! Suddenly got the room I paid for

It is being refurbished and there is no indication of this when I booked it on Hotels.com. There was no bar, they offered drinks from a fridge that had to paid for there and then not your room to paid for at the end. No food including breakfast. The rooms needed upgrading as they were in poor condition. No service what so ever. All in all a bad experience.

I only spent a very short time here on the way to an early morning flight. I arrived late in the evening 10.30ish and the staff member on the front desk was very welcoming, professional and friendly - even booked me a taxi for the morning to the airport - which I hadn't properly thought through at that stage - so saved me a job! Slept well and left bright and breeezy

On first site this hotel is beautiful with loads of character, with beautiful grounds and at a reasonable price. Unfortunately its basically at the end of the runway of Stansted Airport with planes taking off and landing approximately every 3 minute's. Because of the hotels age the windows.are still single panes of glass and the noise can be heard like your standing outside. My room wasnt located in the main hotel, it was in the building across the road and although there was a carpark directly outside of my room i was told i wasnt allowed to use it and had to park my vehicle on the carpark behind the main hotel which was approximately 100mtrs away which wasn't ideal considering i have walking difficulties.

Room was so hot as the radiators were left on and there's no windows to open. I don't understand why they didn't have the heating switched off in the middle of summer.

The accommodation is being renovated to a high standard but we did not realise there is no restaurant or any catering facilities onsite, and will not be for 12 months! It is also close to the runway so planes taking off or landing are very low flying over the hotel.

The hotel deserves good ratings for it's friendly team and convenient location and cheap price. But the main letdown for me is the poor sound insulation. The walls seem to be very thin as you can hear your next door - talking, opening doors, drawers, wardrobes... Rooms are converted from a big mansion so that's probably normal. But I was waken a few times by early guests departing and staff entering the building and next door

Directly under the flight path so very noisy. Our so called ‘deluxe’ room opened on to a road. Defensive manager when I explained the floor of the room hadn’t been cleaned. Other than that adequate if you need a convenient overnight stay.

No dining facilities or bar and until 2mths ago housed refugees! On direct flight path so very noisy. No air con, very hot! Couldn’t have windows open because too noisy. Not a great stay, wouldn’t recommend.

The hotel is in a convenient location for Stanstyairport. The hotel is an old Manor House and has great potential but needs a complete renovation

No restaurant facilties. Worth the £60.00 I paid for the night.

Super friendly staff at check in and check out, late check in (around 1am) was no problem :)

We stayed in room 34 (top of the stairs) it was beautiful with the sitting area and then the bedroom. The room was so warm and the aircon didn’t really reach the bedroom so was very hot in there. We couldn’t open the velux windows either. Beautiful location and stunning place. William the receptionist was so nice and friendly and happy to help when we reported an issue with one of the TVs. He’s a real character

Obviously, I stayed there to get to the airport very noisy because of the planes so would suggest earplugs

Lovely setting but poor comfort in room, esp bed. No breakfast available. Knew it might be noisy with airport but also others talking loudly in reception at 11.30 plus.

Hotel okay for the money BUT. Check car parking signs. I was told by reception that my car was okay and she took registration number. I have Received a £100 car parking fine for the 6 hrs my car was in car park. Spoke to car parking people said I was told wrong info. Very unhappy. So beware of the parking.

This hotel is amazing for what we needed it for!
