It was clean and adequate for what we wanted and very reasonably priced.

Hotel was nice, although the room was a bit dusty and the mattress was like a brick. Helpful on reception and great location.

If I had been told by hotels.com about the charges and difficulty with parking around The Royal Hotel Scarborough, I would not have booked at that Hotel. As it happens we sorted an alternative parking place but it would not have suited visitors who have difficulty walking. The Hotel and Staff were excellent.

Checkin was easy and friendly, pleasantly surprised with the room , seems newly renovated by slightly spoiled by the curtains wh8ch seemed to be old , they were poorly hung abd didnt close properly, lovely quality towels changed every day, quality bedding , plenty of tea and coffee in the room and freely available on request from reception, one issue with room which was quickly resolved and to our satisfaction, food was lovely , no complaints at all , all staff were hard working and very pleasant, grand old building, enjoyed every minute, we will be back

Hotel is in dire structural condition. Windows do not open far because frames are rotting so room was uncomfortably airless. Corners need cleaning properly. Electricity supply unsafe. We turned on the coffee machine and all the sockets blew.. Wi-Fi in room cost £7 per device per night - scandalous! Breakfast offered tinned fruit (no fresh), overcooked hot food and sliced bread. Bar closes too early. Nobody wiped the tables during the course of the evening.

very very average. Was a nice building but quite dated. No heating in rooms. Was offered a portable heater but it never arrived (to be fair, I never chased it up.) Not a bad hotel but not great for the price.

The staff were very helpful and I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. It was very comfortable. The cleaning could use a bit more attention- there was mildew in the shower and tissues behind the nightstand for example. It was slightly annoying that the wifi in the room needed to be paid for- at £7 per device it wasn’t really worth it for two nights, but there was free wifi in public areas. Overall it was fairly nice, it just needed a bit of updating and attention.

Wonderful holiday at the Royal hotel, definitely one the best Britannia hotels. Lovely stay.

Standard double room was definitely smaller than the listing would have you believe, not worth the £150 that it cost, also charging £7 per day for WiFi? Is this 2010? Not to mention the giant inconvenient bar attached to the key. Would probably be better off at the nearby travelodge or Premier Inn

Clean and tidy but has that faded glamour of past glories needs a refurbishment - breakfast brilliant unlike so many hotels the chef knows how to deliver eggs with a runny middle - too many kids making too much noise running around unchecked not a place if you like a bit of quiet - staff at reception really helpful some patrons not so pleasant

No room wifi. No tv service even though the tv was mounted on a wall. Tiny single beds Noisy room Expensive for what we got. View consisted of looking out to walls. No view at all

The room was slanted not level and was like walking drunk very outdated smelly old mattress holes in walls room was smelly broken tiles in bathroom limescale all over bath and shower no parking cost me £29 on parking light switch behind a cupboard also opened the cupboard and an iron board fell on me

I was here on business, Dirty room, never seen a hoover, brown marks on bedding and a brown stain on one of my bath towels. Cob webs in corners. I was very disappointed

Me and my daughter had a lovely 4 days at the Royal or room was very nice it was very big and very clean it had 2 beds mine was huge and very comfortable my daughter had a single bed and hers was comfortable aswell.. we had a fan in the room which was nice as it was very warm.. there was an iron and ironing board aswell in the room.. wardrobe was massive.. bathroom was a good size and the shower over bath was powerful it was all nice and clean and nice and quiet.. the staff were lovely we didnt use the swimming pool so cant comment on that.. entertainment was good and the bar was well stocked i dont drink but for people who do it is good... i would definitely go and stay again.

I have made compliant On 5 floor idiots out sitting on window ledge spiking shouting people in street rave music on all night no sleep 4-30 hour drive to Glasgow checkout 6.30am Toilet needs ripped out done again stains bed & pillows mattress poor Very bad stay

I have stayed in this hotel previously & found the whole place in need of a total upgrade to bring it into the 20th never mind the 21st century. My room had severe damp on the outer walls, so much so the decoration was peeling from the wall. The bath had mould & the cleaners must never look at any of the appliances as the coffee machine drip tray was full of liquid.

No shower gel in dispenser. Reception staff carrying on private conversations when guests waiting Lift wedged open at second floor so could not be used by guests

Its very near the beach and the view of the room is very beautiful, can see the sunrises 🌅

We booked a 1 night break as a last minute treat as the weather forecast was good. We are so glad we did. This hotel was amazing value. Check in was at 4pm but we arrived at 2pm to drop our bags off and were told our room was ready. We went to the room (423) and it was massive with a sea view. The room was really warm and we asked reception for a fan and they quickly sorted this. The main thing that stood out in the hotel was how friendly and helpful all the staff were, from reception to cleaning staff. The hotel must have been so grand back in the day and I dread to think of the cost of the upkeep. For the price we paid to stay here it was the best value for money we have spent in a long time.

Good service. Lounge comfortable. I didn't have meals. Toilet seat in en-suite wonky and the lid wouldn't stay open.

The royal is looking tired and inside is the same. Shame about breakfast cut off on a sunday a 09.30 place needs some TLC.

Dirty smell

Stayed for four nights the hotel lobby looks amazing as does all the ground floor but as we got to our room on the 3rd floor it was in need of a little update.Our check in was fast and friendly.Our room itself was in need of updating here and there but saying that the bed was comfy bedding clean and the room had everything we needed including a fridge.Breakfast was good and you help yourself to what ever you want.It is in a perfect location with a great sea view,we would return again as all in all we had a lovely 4 nights here

Fantastic location for beach and town. Staff were great nothing was too much trouble. Stunning hotel very quirky with all the staircases rooms were functional and clean. Definetly would go back.

Room was very damp and lots of black mould in the corner Bathroom also had lots of black mould.

Hotel is great location just beside the Tram. There is parking nearby which is payable. Hotel is tired looking. Our room was ok but there were cigarette burns on the duvet despite it being a non smoking room. It was a last minute booking so it did the job but I probably wouldnt stay there again
