Always good to stay at the Oaks.

I had a horrible nights sleep due to some kind of banging noise - like an opening and closing of a door - I alerted staff earlier that evening and asked if i could change rooms but there was no rooms avilable that night. I spoke to staff in the morning of this issue and they were kind and compassionate. Made me a coffee for my troubles and offered a complementry night stay for the terrible sleep i had, I got woken up at 5.30am and the banging was still going on around 10.30pm so I was so grateful and will give Oaks another try. Hopefully a better experience. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Will hope for a quieter room on my next stay.

Great staff that are willing to help as needed. The facility is in need of an overhaul but the location is great, easy walk to either Canelands shopping centre or MacKay CBD. The secure parking was great. We would definitely stay in the location again with three other hotels to compare prices with, River Oaks is worth a look if staying in MacKay.

Overall experience was disappointing. No wifi given apparent overuse by guests. Tried to phone reception, but phone had no dial tone. TV had limited usage in view of no wifi. Good breakfast and clean room.

Staff were lovely, but rooms were super smelly (like a mouldy smell).
Friends in another room had the same experience.

While the staff were friendly and very helpful they were let down by the facilities.
We had a standard room so don’t expect the world but in a twin room there were only 4 coat hangers and 2 small bedside draws. No other draws or storage.
A microwave wave is provided but no cutlery, plates or bowels so unless you can heat in a cup and eat with your fingers - good luck.
The internet was nonexistent. Able to connect in the hallway but lost connection on entering the room. Able to get a perfect connection while out walking one street over though!
Somewhat disappointing I must say.

Furniture was ripped in lounge-tv in lounge didn’t work - paint peeling in ensuite- this was meant to be an executive apartment- certainly significantly below standard.

The receptionist was lovely. The room was sub standard for the price. It stunk of bleach, coming from bathroom sink. The tiles had dirty work boot prints all over them. The fans were covered in thick dust. The room was hot upon arriving and didn't seem to cool down. The bedrooms had better aircon. The balcony had 2 chairs and 1 small table. Room was booked for 3 people and slept 4. The dining table had rust and long time grim under glass. Only one of the 2 keys given to us worked. The pool has rubbish all around it. Loads in the garden beds.
On the plus side the beds were comfortable. For the price, I would stay elsewhere.

The lounges in reception really need replacing - doesn’t give a good first impression. Carpet in room very worn. Housekeeping is hit and miss. Sometimes bed made but not always and missed us completely one day (as we returned late we couldn’t tell anyone reception was closed). Restaurant isn’t always open so forget room service. The room we were in was extremely hot for October and the Aircon doesn’t go lower than 19 so rather uncomfortable and doesn’t cool down until late evening. Rather disappointed as we often stay at Oaks (and are away usually 200-300 nights per year) and this isn’t their usual standard.

Room had a few issues, cracks in the walls in 3 places, very noisy dryer and exhaust fan in bathroom, tv issues but overall very handy to retail and dining outlets.

Staff were good with easy checkin and checkout. Room carpets need a clean and bathroom door lock doesn't line up so it can't be locked or stay closed.

Reception had only one staff on duty. & guests waiting 20 plus minutes to check in.We were 3rd of 7 waiting. Only 1 key available. No compendium in room. No instructions for phone, reception, air con etc. Lounge had several tears in seating.Very noisy at night

We arrived only to be told that they didn't have our booking. Luckily I had printed out the confirmation and still they couldn't find it. After 20 frustrating minutes while the staff tried to figure things out, we were told that there had neem a major water leak and we were redirected to another Oaks apartment hotel. This one was not very clean. All in all, very disappointing

The restaurant service was terrible. The girls serving us had to be torn away from giggling behind the counter to serve their only customers, us. The food was horrible. I ordered char grilled rib eye steak. Got boiled scotch fillet. Chips were not nice. Room had ants all through it. TV was tiny and this was in an executive sweat. Linen smelt odd and hall way smelt disgusting. Even though we got the executive sweat we were asked to pay $5 to park in secure parking. Have stayed in other Oaks hotel with no issues but this will be the last time.
