We were extremely pleased with the unit. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the availability of fresh fish and a on the island allowed and a grill in the unit allowed us to eat most dinners at home. There was a closet filled with beach chairs, umbrellas and beach toys/balls that was very helpful for us. In unit washer/dryer was great for our family. The location has easy access to a great pool and is a good base to explore the full island. We had a great week.

Everything was excellent

Clean, well cared for property. Beds were firm and comfortable. Unit was a little tricky to locate initially: Google Maps directed us to the wrong cluster of units. However, the property manager was very helpful in guiding us to the building. Check in at the main gatehouse was a little slow and tedious. (Be prepared to provide Hawaii Safe Travels documents.) Pool was spectacular and offered beautiful sunset views. The pool area was very crowded with families done of the time, but we did visit over the Thanksgiving holiday week. Distance to shops and restaurants was reasonable. We walked it a couple of times (30 min walk), and drove when we were pressed for time (5 min drive). Overall, Great stay, and we'd definitely consider returning!

Our family of 5 (Children 12, 3 and 1) had an awesome stay here at Surfs Up. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, however the single beds are a little high for little people. We ended up putting a mattress on the floor for our 3 year old. The master bathroom is big enough to fit a crib which is where our 1 year old slept (it has a fan) and is really dark. We really appreciated the closet of activities and beach gear. The tennis courts are a 4 minute walk and the pool is a 10 minute walk. The pool is perfect for kids as there are 2 super shallow (2 ft and 3 ft) swimming areas to play. Beaches (Hapuna, Mauna Kea) are a 10 minute drive and the shops and grocery store are 5-8 minute drive away. Everything was close by and easy to get to! The kitchen was FULLY stocked with appliances (including a Ninja Blender, multiple coffee machines, serving dishes and non stick frying pans) and basic spices. The Fridge is large and as well as pantry space to store food for the week. It was a pleasure communicating with the Adriana, she was excellent at reminders, making sure we had everything we needed and was always prompt with her responses. We used BabyQuip (recommended by Adriana) for baby gear which I highly recommend. (High Chair, bed Rails, Baby Monitor and sound machine) I have already recommended this place to family and friends thinking about coming to the Big Island in the future. We will 100% be back and looking forward to staying here again! Thank you for everything! Mahalo!

Beautiful condo with all the amenities. Our second stay in the same condo over the past two years, we will be coming back for a third and more. Pro-tip, make sure you look in the bottom drawers of the dressers for extra towels, happened to find them on our last day. The Luva staff was great and extremely responsive. You’ll love it here.

We loved our stay here! The condo is just as it looks in the photos, very clean, and with a well-stocked gear closet, which really makes all the difference. Adriana was super easy to work with and very accommodating to our family's requests. Would definitely come back again, thank you for helping make our vacation great!

The rental unit was gorgeous and spacious and we were all thrilled when we arrived, as it met all of our expectations. Check-in was easy and we had codes for the front entry and gates. We had an issue with the shower in master bath because we stupidly could not figure out that you had to pull the handle out first (cold was hot and hot was cold)…but after a quick phone call to Adrianna at Luva, we realized our mistake and all was well. The MB was huge and the closet space was more than adequate to hide all the suitcases and organize clothes. We walked up to pool at the Ocean Club (short walk on beautifully landscaped property) and watched the sun set from the lava rocks. It was just spectacular. The rental had everything we needed for the beach! Chairs and coolers and plenty of towels. I suggest Hapuna Beach for your first beach adventure…stunning…but get there early to find parking! We also rented snorkel equipment from Snorkel Bobs. They were awesome and helped fit my older son with RX goggles. We hit Costco and Walmart before we arrived and bought essentials, but the unit was stocked with plastic containers and tons of dishware and cookware. Queen’s Market is close by, but pricey. I preferred Island Gourmet for fresh sandwiches and wine/beer. We even used the grill to cook fish my son’s caught in deep sea fishing trip! The AC was perfect and comfortable, but I recommend opening the windows and slider when you have a nice refreshing wind. The beds were comfy and each room was well appointed and welcoming (mahalo ) Everyone was helpful and welcoming and we enjoyed the beautiful salt water pool and yummy Lavaflows and food at club. We had a spectacular time at Surf’s Up! We have family on the Big Island and got to see things most visitors might miss because we had access to 4x4 vehicles and local knowledge of area. Venture over to Alaka Falls and explore north side of Island. I felt like I would see a T-Rex come bursting through the rainforest. It was like another world Hawaii…indescribable! Take it all in and relax…this is the way.

Hali i Kai Surfs Up has it all! We have used VRBO many times and Surf's Up was the best equipped and most organized place we have stayed. Everything from the quality and the comfort of the furnishings to the availability of water toys, beach chairs, umbrella's this place has it all. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you need regardless of the meal you want to prepare and the condiments available were an added bonus and much appreciated. Our grandchildren were with us for part of the stay and they really enjoyed the pool area and the grassed area outside the patio. Oh ya the chocolate smoothies from the clubhouse were a hit too. The clubhouse/pool area is outstanding to relax and enjoy whale watching or the awesome sunsets and a quality meal. The staff here are outstanding. Great place to stay hope to be back soon. Condo was recently updated with new floors and decorations. Very comfortable furniture. Condo kitchen was furnished was supplied with just about everything you need for meal preparations. All the small appliances, cookware and utensils you would need. We had a great stay!

We visited with our family and were so impressed with the attention to every detail. The Waikaloa resort area is beautifully groomed and has most of the amenities we needed. The Hali'i Kai resort is beautiful and has an excellent pool, fitness center and beach club all located on the water. The condo was exceptionally clean and perfectly appointed. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals but this is the best one by far. The owners have thought of everything from beach toys, snorkels, boogy boards, beach chairs and more. We can't think of anything else they could have done to make it better.

Our third stay at Hali'i Kai and our first in this unit. It is absolutely the nicest furnished and best equipped of any we have stayed in. We do lots of cooking in so appreciated kitchen supplies including spices etc for use. And the sports closet was best equipped we have seen in any Hawaii condo stay. Highly recommend Hali'i Kai generally, excellent spot in Waikoloa, pool views can't be beat. And great clubhouse bar/gym with friendly staff. Rick and Luva Property Management excellent to deal with.

We loved the condo. The location, the layout, the amenities in the complex along with the stores close by. It was absolutely fabulous!!! Best way to travel to the island. Would definitely stay here again!!

This condo had all the conveniences and more. The kitchen was well equipped with a French press, grinder and a cappuccino maker. There were beach chairs and umbrella, and snorkel gear to use on the beach. The condo is decorated very lovely with beautiful art work throughout. Mahalo

The unit was as described and shown in the pictures. It was beautiful, well decorated, comfortable, clean and had a great layout. The kitchen was one of the best stocked kitchens we have been in, and included paper supplies (Ziploc bags, coffee filters, foil, Saran Wrap, paper towels, etc), a nice variety of seasonings, plenty of Tupperware, and all the appliances you might need. The master bed was SO comfortable and we are definitely glad to have had a place with A/C since it was both hot and humid. Our kids said the other beds were comfy too. "Surf's up" also had plenty of laundry supplies, shampoo and conditioner, and body wash in the showers as well as a BBQ right on the patio. The beach supplies - towels, chairs, umbrella, cooler, ice packs were so helpful as well. These are things we definitely appreciated! The rental company was easy to work with, very pleasant, and timely with responses. They even let us check in early since the place was available. We enjoyed using the pool and Jacuzzi, exercise room, the beautiful landscaped grounds, and the staff at the pool area were very friendly. The unit was located close to a number of different beaches which we visited and snorkeled at. There's a grocery store, shopping, gas station, restaurants, a Starbucks, and plenty to do nearby.

Ok, I'm an Interior Designer and am VERY picky, and I have to say in my professional opinion that Rick and Wendy have done an absolutely lovely job on furnishing this home! The little touches make you feel like you're really living in luxury and pampering yourself! Everything is of high quality and you truly feel like they have thought of everything, from an incredibly well-stocked kitchen to a toy closet full of pool and beach items to a flat iron in the master bathroom... seriously that was a very nice touch! Note that the audio/visual cable/dvd is cumbersome to maneuver, but we didn't end up watching any tv so it was ok. When choosing a condo in the Hali'i Kai complex, I was a little concerned how far this condo is from the pool, but honestly, there was plenty of parking in the common area and it was only a quick minute drive to get there. And the coconut grove that it sits on is absolutely beautiful and was perfect for playing tag with my nieces and nephews! The hammocks were awesome and being on the ground floor was great! We could hardly hear the guests staying above us, so no worries there. We will definitely stay in this condo if we need a 3 bedroom in the Waikaloa area again... hands down the best condo we've every stayed in! Oh, and the pool area and view from there are truly stunning! Be aware they strictly enforce the pool rules (ie: no throwing balls, no saving lounge chairs, etc...), but an incredible salt water pool and a gorgeous place to recharge your soul!!!

Our family of 6 adults (and one 17-month old toddler) stayed for 5 nights at "Surf's Up" and it was FANTASTIC! It was our first time to the Big Island and we loved it. This vacation rental was also our 3rd (and final stop) as we toured around the island for 2 weeks. This was our favourite rental... Rick and Wendy's Hawaii home is so well-equipped and their "welcome binder" has excellent restaurant and sightseeing suggestions! We couldn't believe how stocked the kitchen was (e.g. oil/spices & kitchen gadgets!) it made cooking at home super easy. But we have to say the biggest "wow" factor was how stocked the "beach closet" was! Tommy Bahama chairs, picnic blanket, sandcastle toys, balls, boogie boards, coolers, big beach bags, etc!! (we also left a couple beach umbrellas to add to the mix! :)). The resort's communal pools/restaurant was a pleasant 10min walk from the condo and the view is stunning (we saw humpback whales breaching off shore!). There are lounge chairs everywhere and the Mai Tai's at happy hour were delish! The pool is great for dipping/relaxing - and there's even a tiny (1.5 ft) "kiddy pool" section where our 17month old son had a GREAT time. It was super toddler friendly! Speaking of "toddler friendly," Rick and Wendy also arranged for us to have a high chair at the condo (which was SOOO appreciated). We cant say enough about how wonderful our stay was... I only wish it was longer. And as a side note about location... the complex is pretty central in terms of the "Waikoloa" area. It's a short drive (5min) to Kings & Queens Marketplace and A-Bay. We also enjoyed checking out beaches slightly south and north of Hali'i Kai... so the location is really great. We hope to be back soon.

We had the pleasure of staying at this condo for 44 days in Jan/Feb, 2016. This was our third longer term stay on the Big Island and by far our best experience to date. We love the Big Island and all it has to enjoy and have already booked for next year. What made this years vacation the best was the fantastic condo which unlike many others ...actually had everything advertised and more. The owners, Wendy and Rick, went out of their way to ensure our every need was looked after and have outfitted the condo with first class everything. Being able to barbecue on our own deck was so much better than having to go to a common barbecue area like most condo developments in Hawaii. From all the beach chairs, coolers, tennis stuff, books , movies, and every kitchen appliance you can imagine not to mention the original art and upscale furniture...this condo has it all. We have no hesitation in recommending this Condo to anyone, and congratulate Rick and Wendy on their decision to provide first class all the way. Mahalo
