There were cockroaches in the room and the bathroom... I mentioned it to Sandra, the manager, and she did nothing about it. She ignored me. I sent her the text and the photos. She got angry... and I just stayed quiet... SHE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT TREATING THE GUEST WELL.

The room had very dim light and some of the hallways and stairs were unlit. The pooll was unlit. I told the clerk about the light and he said they were aware. The door to bathroom was off one of the hinges. Toilet barely flushed. I had to use a bucket. I would not go there again

The date of check in we arrived late the area was secluded and the building next to this hotel had a notice of legal closure due to human trafficking. My first priority was my family safety which both Expedia and the hotel disregarded. The hotel was dirty, the ac was not working most days and there was no hot water. The experience was horrible

The hotel is not like in the pictures, the swimming pool area is in bad conditions. They don't mention what type of breakfast they offer and it is just one coffee, one orange juice and a piece of bread

This hotel is appaling, filthy, noisy, stained sheets and no covering at the bathroom window. Uninhabitable.
Travelocity should not have this hotel on their site, nothing was as advertised and we had to move hotels, which cost a lot of money, but hey, I guess TrVelocity got their commission, so stuff their customers.
Not once have Travelocity got back to us about this hotel, so my advice is STAY AWAY

The people who run this place r rude no respect being a guest very dirty by the pool internet was poor very very noisy

This hotel had banners and stickers stating that it's "clausurado", this means that the authorities found reasons to shut it down.
They are still conducting business in an illegal manner.
They check you in through a little window and make you go to another building where the room was smelly and filled with dead bugs.
Didn't stay there and money wasn't refunded.

Noisy room, was beside the terrasse. The breakfast was verry minimal, The person responsible didn't even want to give an extra slice of bread. The staff at the reception do not speak a word of English. There was no safe in the room, and the sheets appeared to be soiled.

Nothing in listing matches what is actually there. The owner manages said they would refund in full. Expedia has tried to contact them with no awanser. I have photos of all the cockroaches. Have a screenshot of messages that say they will refund us but still have not been refunded

Misrepresented description and picture. There is no beach associated with property. Ground floor rooms are so dark, sunlight never come. In Breakfast give one slice of bread and 1 coffee. If you ask more they refuse with big disrespect. All fake.

We did not spend much time in Playa, it was just a quick stay. The location is good but housekeeping could work a little on dusting the bathroom door & sweeping floors. There was a little sand in places. Also, the shampoo didn't lather, maybe it was eco friendly. Generally it was satisfactory for the price.

The only thing that was not accurate is the impression of a private beach from the advertisement picture (you have to walk a block and the beach is public).
The "noise", sometimes at night from a club nearby mentioned in some reviews exist, but is minimal, or non-existent other nights. Bring a couple of $0.50 cents soft earplugs and you won't notice it.
The place was clean, safe, accessible, and close to the action, but not on the busy street, I saw people working on maintenance every day, the room was cleaned only when I left the sign "clean room" on the door, which is expected.

Balam's owner lies about amenities, not water for 3 days (This issue was the more terrible) no parking lot, (public parking that we need to pay for it, if we find space of course.) no private beach area, no daily housekeeping.

False advertisement. The rooms did not have air conditioning. It said no smoking and our neighbors were smoking and smoke went into our room. Beds were awful! The worst thing was that the beds had bed bugs. Found them in the morning of our last night!

The property was central to many things, and restaurants, laundry services, convenience stores were all within a block or so. There was a nearby club so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. The hot water takes a long time but that's not an issue if you do cold showers to wake up. Overall good value if you value location over other factors.

No hot water, you can hear outside birds singing all day and night but gets terrible around 4 in the morning waking you up without getting any rest. No hot water, no internet connection as specified on their hotel description, see through curtains so everyone passing by can see inside your room, no amenities, a motel would of been a better choose than here. We asked the hotel staff to help fix the hot water issue and was not fixed, we asked to see if we can have a different room and were ignored. No house keeping, we went for an all day tour and we were hopping to have the room made and at least soap to shower and the hot water fixed but we didn't.

Arrived early..dude barely looked up from his computer, said " come back at 3p.
Not angry , but thought a bit terse.
Came back , greeted by a nice young lady.Very helpful.

Put in a room that had no glass in the window, and they hit it behind a curtain.
They wouldn’t switch my room, that area is not a safe area at night at all, and the hotel is near one of the loudest clubs that play electronic music till 3 in the morning.

Really nasty place! Hair on the bed, walls stained of some liquid god knows what, room smelling like bad. Pictures are not accurate.

This property is very close to 5th avenue and there's a lot of little local restaurants really close that are absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to most budget travellers BUT with a caveat: there's a night club a half block away that plays obnoxiously loud music that shakes the walls of the hotel until after 3am. If you are in Playa to party, this hotel is for you, if you're there to relax and get any amount of sleep, it might not be your best option.
